Abstract

Es wird eine Gelenkkugel (1) für ein künstliches Gelenk beschrieben. Diese weist einen innenliegenden, metallischen Armierungskörper (2) sowie eine Beschichtung (3) auf dem Armierungskörper (2) als Gleitpartner für ihr Gegenstück im Gelenk auf. Die Beschichtung besteht aus einem Kompositwerkstoff mit einer anorganischen Komponente aus Biokeramik als Füllstoff in einer organischen Komponente auf Polyurethan- oder Epoxidbasis.

Description

  • Die Erfindung betrifft eine Gelenkkugel für ein künstliches Gelenk, beispielsweise für ein künstliches Hüftgelenk.
  • Verschiedene materiale Paarungen sind dabei seit langem bekannt. Zum einen sind Paarungen wie eine metallischen Gelenkkugel mit einem keramischen Gleitpartner in Form eines Inlays aus Polyethylen in einer Beckenpfanne bekannt, ebenso wie eine hartkeramische Gelenkkugel mit einem hartkeramischen oder einem komposit-keramischen Einsatz in einer Beckenpfanne.
  • Minimale Abweichungen von den Normmaßen können insbesondere bei keramischen Gelenkkugeln zu einem Zerbersten führen aufgrund der dann im Material herrschenden Spannungsspitzen.
  • Darüber hinaus ist der Abrieb bei den bekannten Paarungen von Gleitpartnern zwar gering, jedoch meßbar, was in der Regel nach Jahren einen Austausch der Gelenkkugel erfordert.
  • Demgemäß ist die Aufgabe der vorliegenden Erfindung, eine Gelenkkugel anzugeben, die langzeitstabil und verschleißfest ist bzw. eine Paarung von Gelenkkugel mit einem Gleitpartner anzugeben, welche die vorteilhaften Eigenschaften aufweist.
  • Gelöst wird diese Aufgabe durch eine Gelenkkugel mit den Merkmalen gemäß dem Anspruch 1 bzw. durch eine Paarung mit den Merkmalen des Anspruchs 8.
  • Demgemäß ist vorgesehen, daß die Gelenkkugel einen innenliegenden, metallischen Armierungskörper und eine Beschichtung auf dem Armierungskörper als Gleitpartner für ihr Gegenstück im Gelenk aus einem Kompositwerkstoff mit einer anorganischen Komponente aus Biokeramik als Füllstoff in einer organischen Komponente auf Polyurethan- oder Epoxidbasis aufweist.
  • Dementsprechend ist in der Matrix der organischen Komponente ein Füllstoff eingebettet, welcher die erforderliche Festigkeit und Abriebsresistenz aufweist. Die Kombination des metallischen Armierungskörpers mit der Beschichtung bietet die Vorteile, daß die Beschichtung auch eine dämpfende Funktion gegenüber den eingeleiteten Kräften ausübt. Es hat sich im Versuch gezeigt, daß der metallische Armierungskörper absolut notwendig ist. Ein Gießen einer Kugel ausschließlich aus dem Kompositwerkstoff führt zu Instabilitäten des Materials.
  • Besonders bevorzugt wird ein Armierungskörper, der eine Außenkontur im wesentlichen in Form einer Kugel aufweist. Hierdurch wird sichergestellt, daß die Beschichtungsdicke mit Kompositwerkstoff an jeder Stelle der Kugeloberfläche gleich ist, so daß die Symmetrie der Belastung der Gelenkkugel an allen Stellen gewahrt bleibt. Hierdurch wird einer ungleichmäßigen Druckverteilung entgegengewirkt.
  • Die Beschichtung der Kugel eignet sich auch in hervorragender Weise dafür, regelmäßig angeordnete Vertiefungen ohne Verbindungskanäle untereinander aufzunehmen. Diese Vertiefungen bilden mit der Synovia kleine Druckpuffer, welche zusammen mit dem Gleitpartner der Gelenkkugel dafür sorgen, daß die Synovia ihre Funktion ausüben kann. In diesem Zusammenhang wird verwiesen auf die DE-A 197 50 121.
  • Gemäß einer vorteilhaften Ausführungsform ist die anorganische Komponente eine Glaskeramik. Alternativ findet Aluminiumoxidkeramik oder Zyrkonoxidkeramik Anwendung.
  • Hinsichtlich der Paarung der vorbeschriebenen Gelenkkugel mit einem Gleitpartner in Form einer kalottenförmigen Pfanne ist vorgesehen, daß dieser aus dem selben Kompositwerkstoff wie die Beschichtung der Gelenkkugel besteht, wobei die Schüttdichten der Kompositwerkstoffe so gewählt sind, daß die Schüttdichte des einen Gleitpartners höher ist als jene des anderen Gleitpartners. Mit anderen Worten ist ein Gleitpartner immer härter als der andere. Damit die Beschichtung dauerhaft auf dem Armierungskörper haftet, ist dessen Oberfläche extrem aufgerauht oder weist viele Rillen auf.
  • Das Gesamtergebnis ist, daß die erfindungsgemäße Gelenkkugel ein isoelastisches Bauteil ist, welches abriebsfest und langzeitstabil ist, welches in der Lage ist, Spannungsspitzen abzudämpfen.
  • Die Erfindung wird anhand der einzigen Zeichnungsfigur näher erläutert. Diese zeigt schematisch eine Schnittansicht der Gelenkkugel zweier Ausführungsformen.
  • Erkennbar ist der metallische Armierungskörper 2 im Inneren der Gelenkkugel 1 angeordnet. Der Armierungskörper 2 ist beschichtet mit einer Beschichtung 3 aus einem Kompositwerkstoff, der eine anorganische Komponente aus Biokeramik als Füllstoff in einer organischen Komponente auf Polyurethan- oder Epoxidbasis umfaßt.
  • Der metallische Armierungskörper 2 ist vorliegend kugelförmig ausgebildet, so daß die Beschichtung 3 der Gelenkkugel 1 an jeder Stelle die selbe Dicke aufweist.
  • Im linken Teil der Figur ist eine bevorzugte Weiterbildung dargestellt, bei der die Beschichtung 3 regelmäßig angeordnete Vertiefungen 5 aufweist, die keinerlei Verbindung durch Verbindungskanäle untereinander haben. In diesen Vertiefungen 5 sammelt sich natürliche Gelenkflüssigkeit, die Synovia, und füllt einen Spalt zwischen der Gelenkkugel 1 und dem Gleitpartner, die künstliche Beckenpfanne, aus. Hierdurch wird das künstliche Gelenk gewissermaßen geschmiert.
  • Der Armierungskörper 4 ist auf der dem künstlichen Gelenk abgewandten Seite mit einer konischen Klemmhülse 4 versehen, in welche ein konischer Steckzapfen eines Adapters setzbar ist, welcher eine Verbindung zu beispielsweise einem Hüftstiel herstellt.

Claims (8)

1. Gelenkkugel (1) für ein künstliches Gelenk, aufweisend
einen innenliegenden, metallischen Armierungskörper (2), und
eine Beschichtung (3) auf dem Armierungskörper (2) als Gleitpartner für ihr Gegenstück im Gelenk aus einem Kompositwerkstoff mit einer anorganischen Komponente aus Biokeramik als Füllstoff in einer organischen Komponente auf Polyurethan- oder Epoxidbasis.
2. Gelenkkugel nach Anspruch 1, bei der der Armierungskörper (2) eine Außenkontur im wesentlichen in Form einer Kugel aufweist.
3. Gelenkkugel nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, bei der in der Beschichtung (3) regelmäßig angeordnete Vertiefungen (5) ohne Verbindungskanäle untereinander vorgesehen sind.
4. Gelenkkugel nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, bei der in dem metallischen Armierungskörper (2) eine konische Klemmhülse (4) ausgebildet ist zur Aufnahme eines konischen Klemmzapfens eines Adapters.
5. Gelenkkugel nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, bei der der Kompositwerkstoff eine Glaskeramik ist.
6. Gelenkkugel nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, bei der der Kompositwerkstoff eine Aluminiumoxidkeramik ist.
7. Gelenkkugel nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, bei der der Kompositwerkstoff eine Zirkonoxidkeramik ist.
8. Paarung einer Gelenkkugel (1) nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 7 mit einem Gleitpartner in Form einer kalottenförmigen Pfanne aus dem selben Kompositwerkstoff wie die Beschichtung (3) der Gelenkkugel (1), wobei die Schüttdichten dieser Kompositwerkstoffe so gewählt sind, daß die Schüttdichte des einen Gleitpartners höher ist als jene des anderen Gleitpartners.
