Description

DEUTSCHESGERMAN

The invention relates to practically fluorine-free optical borate glasses according to patent 949686, the lanthanum oxide as contain essential component.

In Erweiterung der Erfindung nach dem Hauptpatent wurde festgestellt, daß besonders wertvolle Gläser mit den Brechungsindizes no > 1,75 und no > 2,000-0,005 ν erschmolzen werden können, wenn das Glas mindestens Praktisch fluorfreie optische BoratgläserAs an extension of the invention according to the main patent, it was found that particularly valuable glasses with the refractive indices no > 1.75 and no > 2.000-0.005 ν can be melted if the glass is at least practically fluorine-free optical borate glasses

mindestens ein Oxyd von Zink, Cadmium, Blei, Germanium und Silicium Verwendung findet, wobei das Molverhältnis von La2O3 zu B2O3, wie im Hauptpatent gefordert, zwischen 0,1 und 0,5 liegt.at least one oxide of zinc, cadmium, lead, germanium and silicon is used, the molar ratio of La 2 O 3 to B 2 O 3 , as required in the main patent, being between 0.1 and 0.5.

Glasses which consist of at least 75 percent by weight of B 2 O 3 , La 2 O 3 and ZrO 2 are known from Swiss Patent 206,664. These glasses differ from those of the invention in that they do not comply with the required molar ratio between lanthanum oxide and boric acid. These glasses therefore do not have the good optical position as the glasses according to the invention; in particular, the dispersion in them is greater to an undesirable extent. In addition, the previously known glasses have a content of titanium oxide instead of the required content of silicon oxide according to the present invention. Apart from the fact that the known glasses, due to the titanium oxide, always have a color, the titanium oxide also brings with it an undesirable increase in the dispersion.

Außer den hier genannten Metalloxyden können Erdalkalioxyde, Aluminiumoxyd, Indiumoxyd und Wolfram-Anmelder: In addition to the metal oxides mentioned here, alkaline earth oxides, aluminum oxide, indium oxide and tungsten can be applied for:

The use of alkali oxides such as Li 2 O and Na 2 O is advantageous up to 5 percent by weight. In addition to the oxides mentioned, decolorizing substances and refining agents can be used in a known manner.

A number of melts are listed in the tables below, but these are only examples. The glasses are all stable and at most slightly colored.
