Description
The invention relates to a method and a system for detecting and rewarding the return of shopping carts in the designated collection points of a shopping market. During the shopping process, a first signal A is generated and when a shopping cart is returned to a collection point, a second signal B is generated. The correlation of the two signals A and B leads to the output of a bonus. For this purpose, a number of shopping carts, at least one collection point and first detection means for generating the first signal A and second detection means for generating the second signal B are present. The correlation of the two signals A and B for the output of a bonus takes place in a data processing device.
Buying markets that are set up for self-service shopping are usually interested in customers using a shopping cart to shop. For this purpose, the shopping carts are usually kept ready in collection points, from which the customer can remove a cart and take it to the supermarket. However, experience has shown that the motivation of the customers to return the used shopping carts to the collection point after successful shopping is very low. Instead, the shopping carts are usually left where they were unloaded; usually so in the middle of the customer parking lot of the shopping market. This leads to annoying disabilities and sometimes also damage to customer vehicles, so that additional personnel is necessary to collect the shopping carts at regular intervals and bring them to the collection points.
In order to give customers an incentive to return the used shopping carts to the collection point, it has become established to provide the shopping carts with deposit locks: the customer can only remove a shopping cart from the collection point if he inserts a deposit coin into the deposit lock the shopping cart is released. The customer will only receive the deposit coin back if the shopping cart is properly returned to the collection point. In addition to the adverse for the purchasing mood of the customer annoyance that arises when he has no deposit coin at hand, the deposit lock system is generally not accepted by some customers, but perceived as inappropriate regulation and over-regulation.

This object is solved by a system having the features of appended

According to the invention, an optical signal generator and / or an optical detector are used to generate the signals A and B as part of the respective detection means. The radio link for the wireless communication between a shopping cart or the customer and the proprietary data processing is therefore replaced by an optical signal path.
In the simplest case, this can be done, for example, by providing each shopping cart with an optically readable identifier, for example a barcode, so that a digital image processing camera, such as a CCD camera, or a laser light scanner can reliably identify each shopping cart. The cameras or the scanners then generate the signals A and B and send them to a central data processing system in the shopping market. These two examples work on the principle that an optical signal - in the case of the camera, the ambient light - reflected in a typical way for each shopping cart and the reflected signal is detected by an optical detector. The shopping carts are therefore equipped with neither a signal generator nor a detector. This principle can certainly be realized in other ways than with a barcode or the like: It is conceivable, for example, a polarization or frequency shift of the reflected signal which is characteristic of the particular shopping cart.
In addition, the principle of the invention is not limited to the identification of the respective shopping cart. Rather, the generation of the signals A and / or B can also be effected by optical recognition or customization of the customer or a customer card by optical means.
If a part of the detection means, namely a signal generator, is located in the shopping center or at the collection point and another part of the detection means, namely an optical detector, is attached to the shopping cart, no proprietary data processing equipment is needed with the first and second detection means in connection: The interaction of the optical detector of a shopping cart with the optical signal generator in the shopping market generates the signal A, which can be "taken" by the shopping cart; for example, as memory contents of an electronic memory, or by color change of a corresponding color field; also the direct writing of a customer's own data medium with the signal A is conceivable. Such a "marked" shopping cart can then generate the signal B upon receipt of the light signal of the second optical signal transmitter in the collection point and correlate with the signal A or also output the signal B to a customer-owned data carrier. The customer's own data carrier can in this case be, for example, a chip card which is plugged into a read / write device on the shopping cart. However, it can also be a universally usable data carrier which is acted upon contactlessly with the signals A and B. The correlation of the signals A and B on the cart or in the customer's own data carrier and storing the bonus on this data carrier has the advantage that the customer can take away his bonus and if necessary can also be credited in other shopping markets.
The optical signal transmitters used in this case preferably operate in the infrared range and thus invisible to the customer.
With very little effort and yet high reliability is connected when the optical signal transmitter in the shopping market and / or the optical signal transmitter is formed in the collection point by modulating the usual, anyway existing lighting. The modulated light signal can then in particular trigger the generation of the signals A and B in a detector attached to the shopping cart.
The issue of the bonus for correlated signals A and B is usually done by crediting a certain amount at the next purchase of the same or a related shopping market.
Es zeigen:An embodiment of a system according to the invention will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawings. Show it:
