Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method and a system for recording and rewarding the return of shopping carts to the designated collection points of a supermarket. During the shopping a first signal A and at Returning a shopping cart to a collection point becomes a second signal B generated. The correlation of the two signals A and B leads to the output of a Bonus. There are a number of shopping carts, at least one collection place and first detection means for generating the first signal A and second detection means for generating the second signal B are present. The Correlation of the two signals A and B for the issue of a bonus takes place in egg ner data processing device.
Shopping markets that are set up for self-service shopping Usually interested in customers purchasing a shopping cart use gene. For this purpose, the shopping carts are usually in collection points kept ready from which the customer can take a cart and into the one can take the supermarket. However, the motivation of the customers, the be used shopping carts back to the collection point after the purchase experience, very low experience. Instead, the shopping carts mostly left where they were unloaded; usually in the middle of it the customer parking lot of the supermarket. This leads to annoying disabilities conditions and sometimes also damage to customer vehicles, so that too Additional staff is necessary to keep the shopping cart on a regular basis collect it and bring it to the collection points.
In order to give the customer an incentive, put the shopping carts into the Sam to reset the milking point, the trolleys with a deposit prevailed locks: The customer can only remove a shopping cart from the Remove collection point when he puts a coin in the deposit lock, which releases the shopping cart. The customer receives the deposit coin only return when the shopping cart is properly in the collection point is deferred. In addition to the disadvantage for the customer's shopping mood The one that arises when he has no deposit coin at hand becomes the deposit lock system is generally not accepted by some customers, but rather as unpleasant perceived smoothing and over-regulation.
To avoid these disadvantages of the deposit lock system is in WO 98/51197 an electronic system for detecting and rewarding the return of On shopping cart has been proposed, in which each shopping cart with an elec tronic transmission-reception device is provided. With their help Shopping carts that can be removed from the collection point free of charge, electronically identified and the path of each shopping cart through the Understand the supermarket. A first signal A is generated when a be coordinated shopping cart at the checkout of the supermarket and is detected electronically. A second signal B is generated when the same Wa in a collection point, where it is also electronically identified and is recognized in this way. A central data processing facility in the supermarket receives both signals A and B, correlates them and gives a Bo nus off. As a rule, the bonus is in the form of a voucher through an issue device issued near the collection point; but he can also on one Customer card that is read by the output device for this purpose is good be written.
This prior art according to WO 98/51197 avoids the above Disadvantages of the usual deposit lock system; but this is done with a Bought considerable effort because each shopping cart with an electronic Device must be equipped wirelessly with the respective Erfas means for generating the signals A and B communicates. This electroni Devices cause additional costs for original equipment and egg Considerable maintenance effort due to the necessary mobile energy supply and the susceptibility to malfunction due to less gentle handling of the shopping cart gene.
The present invention is therefore based on the object of a method and a system for capturing and rewarding a return of shopping carts type mentioned at the beginning with regard to the installation and maintenance effort to improve comparable comfort for customers.
This object is achieved by a system with the features of the attached patent claim 1 and by a method with the features of the attached patent claim 12 solved.
Advantageous refinements of the system result from claims 2 to 11; preferred developments of the method are in claims 13 to 17 laid down.
According to the invention, signals A and B are used to generate an optical one Signal generator and / or an optical detector as part of the respective detection means used. The radio link for wireless communication between a shopping cart or the customer and the market's own data processing is therefore replaced by an optical signal path.
In the simplest case, this can be done, for example, by each individual shopping trolleys with an optically readable identifier, for example a barcode, is provided so that a digital image processing camera, such as a CCD Camera, or a scanner working with laser light verver every shopping cart can easily identify. The cameras or scanners then generate the Si signals A and B and send them to a central data processing system in the Supermarket. These two examples work on the principle that an opti signal - in the case of the camera, the ambient light - to one for each on characteristic of a shopping cart and the reflected signal from egg nem optical detector is detected. So the shopping carts are neither equipped with a signal transmitter and a detector. This principle can realized in other ways than with a barcode or the like : A cha is conceivable for the respective shopping cart, for example characteristic polarization or frequency shift of the reflected signal.
In addition, the principle according to the invention is by no means based on identification of the respective shopping cart. Rather, the generation of the Si signals A and / or B also by optical recognition or individualization of the Customers or a customer card optically.
If part of the detection means, namely a signal generator, in the supermarket or is arranged at the collection point and another part of the registration tel, namely an optical detector attached to the shopping cart you do not have a proprietary data processing system that works with the first and the second recording means is connected: The interaction of the opti The detector of a shopping cart with the optical signal transmitter in one Kaufmarkt generates signal A, which is "taken away" by the shopping cart that can; for example as the memory content of an electronic memory, or but by changing the color of a corresponding color field; also the immediate Writing a customer's own data carrier with signal A is conceivable. On Such "marked" shopping cart can then receive the light signal of the second signal generator in the collection point generate signal B and correlate with signal A or signal B also to a customer's own Output disk. The customer's own data carrier can, for example be a chip card that is inserted into a read / write device on the shopping cart becomes. However, it can also be a universally usable data carrier deln, which is applied contactless with the signals A and B. The correlation the signals A and B on the car or in the customer's own data carrier and the memory Saving the bonus on this data carrier has the advantage that the customer can Take the bonus with you and, if necessary, also do well in other supermarkets can write.
The optical signal transmitters used here preferably work in the infrared Area and therefore invisible to the customer.
It is associated with particularly little effort and yet high reliability it when the optical signal generator in the supermarket and / or the optical signal giver in the collection point by modulating the usual, anyway existing NEN lighting is formed. The modulated light signal can then in particular the generation of signals A and B in one on the shopping cart Trigger the detector.
The bonus is usually output for correlated signals A and B by crediting a certain amount the next time you buy the same or a connected supermarket.
Es zeigen:An exemplary embodiment of a system according to the invention is described below hand described in more detail in the accompanying drawings. Show it:
Fig. 1 eine schematische Seitenansicht einer Kasse des Einkaufsmarktes; Figure 1 is a schematic side view of a checkout of the supermarket.
Fig. 2 eine schematische Seitenansicht einer Sammelstelle mit einer Ein kaufswagen-Stapelreihe; Fig. 2 is a schematic side view of a collection point with a row of shopping trolleys;
Fig. 3 is a schematic representation of the handle area of a shopping cart.
In Fig. 1 is schematically shown as a shopping cart 1 at the checkout counter 2 of a shopping market is passed. The cash register 2 is provided in the usual way with a scanner 3 and a display 4 . A first signal transmitter 5 , which emits a first light signal 6 in the infrared range, is arranged above the checkout area. The first light signal 6 strikes a detector 7 which is attached to the handle 8 of the shopping cart 1 . The detector 7 recognizes from the first light signal 6 that the shopping cart 1 is located in the checkout area and accordingly shopping is taking place. It therefore generates signal A and stores it for a certain period of time.
Above the stack row 10 , a second signal transmitter 11 is arranged, which is designed in accordance with the first signal transmitter 5 and sends a second light signal 12 to the handles 8 of the shopping cart 1 in the stack row 10 . To power this second signal generator 11 , a solar module 13 is provided on the roof of the collection point 9 . Will be known from Fig. 1 A shopping trolley 1 is set in the assembly center 9, the detector 7, which guides the Si gnal A with it receives the second light signal 12, detects the fact that the shopping cart has been set in a collection 9 1 , and generates signal B.
Fig. 3, the operation of the shopping trolley 1 is a schematic representation of the detector 7 on the handle 8 in more detail: The first or the second light signal 6, 12 encounters a converging lens 14 of the detector 7 and is guided from this to a photo diode 15. The photodiode 15 works together with an evaluation electronics 16 and recognizes whether it is the first light signal 6 or the second light signal 12 . The evaluation electronics 16 generate the signal A or the signal B and store these signals for a preset period of time. In a read-write device 17 of the detector 7 , a chip card 18 of the customer can be inserted, on which the signals A and B are written. The correlation of the signals A and B can already take place in the evaluation electronics 16 or later when the chip card 18 is read out. After the chip card 18 has been written to , which can be indicated, for example, by a short acoustic signal, the customer can remove it again. Upon presentation of the chip card 18 with the signals A and B or the next purchase, the customer receives a credit as a bonus for the proper return of the shopping cart 1 to the collection point 9 .
