Device for warming up an internal combustion engine before cranking
It is already known to the easier turning of internal combustion engines
To transfer heat to parts of the machine subject to friction by means of a heat transfer medium.
By preheating these parts, the aim is to prevent the damaging breakaway. the cold and
Insufficiently lubricated sliding surfaces of these parts and the risk of cold corrosion
these areas should be avoided.
auswirkt. So far, lines and ducts have been used for the supply of heat
anyway provided on the machine to supply it with coolants or lubricants
are. The coolant lines only allow the cylinders and piston liners to be preheated
to, while the lubricant lines and especially the narrow lubrication gaps in
the running and bearing surfaces due to the lubricant, which is viscous when cold
are blocked in such a way that the supply of heat to the parts to be preheated on this
Paths, if at all, are difficult and take a considerable amount of time
is. The well-known preheating by bringing heat to the outside
the machine z. B. using hot air is inadequate in that it is
to the parts inside the machine only indirectly
the housing and therefore imperfect and, above all, only after a long warm-up period
affects.
Lagerstellen.According to the invention, for the supply of heat to the friction
subordinate parts of an internal combustion engine used special lines that
on the inner or outer wall of the crankcase of the: machine
and also through the area of the crankshaft bearings. This enables
for preheating, apart from the coolant or lubricant of the machine, any other
To use heat transfer medium. Cross-section and course of the lines for the heat transfer medium
can be used regardless of the cooling or lubrication requirements
solely on the most favorable management of the heat carrier and the most effective heat transfer
be turned off. This direct introduction of heat achieved with the invention
to the parts of the internal combustion engine to be heated significantly accelerates them
Preheating and thus their readiness to start, the greatest possible protection of the running and
Storage locations.
According to the invention, those on the wall of the crankcase are expedient
provided lines for the heat transfer medium also through the lubricating oil in the oil pan
of the crankcase passed through, so that during the preheating of the machine too
whose lubricating oil is heated in a known manner and the sliding and bearing surfaces
when cranking, lubricating oil with the necessary lubricity is immediately available
stands. The lines for the heat transfer medium are expediently cast into the crankcase
Channels, which also contribute in an advantageous manner to making the crankcase more dimensionally stable
close.
As a heat transfer medium, for. B. a gas or a liquid from the plant
an auxiliary internal combustion engine can be used. As the lines for the heat carrier
completely separate and independent of the machine's lubricant and coolant lines
exhaust gases can also be used for preheating. Of course you can
Instead, use external heat sources to heat up the heat transfer medium.
The invention is still based on an exemplary embodiment below
explained in more detail that in the drawing in Fig. 1 in a vertical section through the
Crank bearing of an internal combustion engine and in Fig. 2 in section along the line 11-II
Fig. 1 is shown.
The crankshaft 1 of the internal combustion engine runs in bearings 2, which each rest on a transverse web 3 of the lower part of the crankcase 4. Each bearing 2 has a cover 5. In the side wall 6 of the upper housing part, lines or channels 7 and 8 are cast in connection with an inlet and an outlet line 9 and 10, respectively. In the parting line of the two housing parts, the lines 7 and 8 open into a line 11, which is at a small distance. the camp 2 surrounds. Close to the housing joint, the lines 7 and 8 are followed by a second line 12 connecting them, which runs in or on the side walls 13 and on the bottom 14 of the lower housing part, where the lubricant supply 15 of the internal combustion engine collects. A liquid or gaseous heat transfer medium flowing in the line 9 enters the line 7 under the effect of a force which sets it into circulation and flows through both the line 11 and the line 12; from here it passes into the line 8 and into the return line 10. The cross-sections of the lines are matched to one another in such a way that the heat transfer medium flows through the lines 11 and 12 to the desired extent and thereby emits a corresponding amount of heat. This leads to an increase in temperature in the area of the crankshaft bearings and in the bearings themselves as well as to a heating of the lubricant supply 15 above the housing base 14 (FIG. 2). As a result, the favorable preconditions set out in more detail above for a slight cranking of the internal combustion engine are created on all sliding surfaces of the internal combustion engine that are connected to the lubricant supply.
