Abstract
The invention relates to diazotype materials with steep gradations for the recording of information. The aim and the object of the invention are to create high-contrast images using diazotype materials of steep gradation. This is achieved by the diazotype material, consisting of a layer support, a diazo system-containing recording layer and at least one further photosensitive layer, characterized in that the further photosensitive layer contains a decolorizing under the action of light whose absorption maximum of the diazonium salt in the diazo system is comparable. As a degarating compound diazonium salts or quinone diazides are used. The novel diazotype material is suitable for producing high quality copies of low contrast originals.
Description
. Diazotypiematerial, diazotype
The invention relates to diazotype materials with steep gradations for the recording of information.
-3 DESCRIPTION OF THE KNOWN TECHNOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS According to the reproduction of low luminance differences of an object to be recorded, the photographic materials are divided into those having a steep or a flat gradation.
While materials with a flat gradation reproduce the luminance differences in detail and are particularly suitable for image-wise photography, only high contrasts are reproduced on steep gradations.
EsThe known diazotype materials have a maximum density D ^ 2, resulting in a gradation f '& 1, 5 results. It

So far, there are a variety of ways to achieve flatter gradations. Examples include the additional use of a UV absorber, the use of several diazonium salts of different decomposition quantum yield, the combination of both possibilities and the introduction of a copy <or photochromic system (GB-PS 2,032,125).
Increasing the gradation is already possible by increasing the concentration of all building blocks of the diazo system, but the resulting maximum density only allows dye images with little brilliance. Further disadvantages are the increasing tendency for fogging and the necessarily additional expenditure of starting materials.

Of the other materials are proposed, which consist of several superimposed layers "Each contains a complete diazo system. The selection of the individual components takes place in accordance with the requirement for a straight-line characteristic curve (DE-OS 1 622 291),

Darlegung ^eS1 Wesens der ErfindungExposition ^ eS 1 We sens of the invention
The known materials have gradations that are insufficient for some practical applications. The object of the invention is therefore to provide materials with a steep gradation. According to the invention, this object is achieved by the Diazotypiematerial consisting of a support, a diazo system containing recording layer and at least one other photosensitive layer in which the further photosensitive layer contains a decolorizing under exposure to light, the absorption maximum comparable to that of the diazonium salt in the diazo system is.
The other photosensitive layer contains as compound a quinone diazide or a diazonium salt.
Acetylzellulose, Polyvinylchlorid,. Polystyren oder Polyvinylalkohol, Stabilisatorsäuren wie z.B. Sulfosalicylsäure, p-Toluensulfosäure verwendet werden können. The diazo system in the recording layer consists of the usual components such as diazonium salt, coupler, binder, stabilizer acid and optionally fade inhibitor, all known diazonium salts such as * p-N, N-dialkylaminobenzediazonium salts or 2,5-dialkoxy-4-dialkylaminobenzediazonium salts. Couplers such as e.g. Resorcinol, naphthol, 2-hydroxy-3-naphthoic acid amides, binders such as e.g. Acetyl cellulose, polyvinyl chloride ,. Polystyrene or polyvinyl alcohol, stabilizing acids such as e.g. Sulfosalicylic acid, p-toluenesulfonic acid can be used.

Geeignete Träger sind unter anderem Transparentpapier, Glas, Polyester- oder Cellulosetriacetatfolien.Suitable carriers include transparent paper, glass, polyester or cellulose triacetate films.
.The recording layer and the decolorizing compound-containing layer, hereinafter referred to as the overcoat, may be applied to the same or the opposite side of the support. ,
The following processes are responsible for the formation of the high gradation within the layered structure, with the desired effect occurring only when the copying light first strikes the cover layer. The substance contained in the cover layer first acts as a filter, which does not allow light to penetrate to the actual recording layer. In the bright spots of the original, the active substance of the overcoat is quickly decolorized and the light strikes the actual recording layer (optionally after passing through the undercoat when the recording and overcoat layers have been applied to different sides of the undercoat). At the less bright spots of the original, the active substance of the topcoat is not completely decolorized until the end of the copying process and the diazonium salt of the underlying recording layer is hardly attacked. The cover layer thus acts as an optical switch, which can only effectively penetrate light of a certain intensity from the recording layer.
Gradation und Empfindlichkeitszahl eines Diazosystems ohne Deckschicht und mit -f" und η Gradation und Empfindlichkeitszahl des erfindungsgemäßen Materials (mit Deckschicht), so gilt näherungsweise, wenn als wirksame Substanz der Deckschicht Diazoniumsalze eingesetzt werden:Denoted by D, the maximum density of the diazonium salt in the coating layer, with 7}. the length belonging to D., with D_ the density of the active substance of the cover layer at the wavelength TL, furthermore with ^, and n. gradation and sensitivity number of a diazo system without cover layer and with -f " and η gradation and sensitivity number of the material according to the invention (with cover layer), it is approximately true if diazonium salts are used as the active substance of the cover layer:
Tees '" 1 * C^2_ + 1) . 1Tees' "1 * C ^ 2_ + 1) 1
η = η - 2 . D2η = η - 2. D 2
In the case of quinone diazides as an effective substance, an approximately twice as large effect of the change in the number of gradations and sensitivity is present, with otherwise identical parameters. The gradation of a finished material can be reduced by diffuse preexposure (covering layer facing the light source). Likewise, the master may be copied through the pad onto the material of the present invention to obtain a copy of normal gradation.
The material according to the invention is e.g. for the production of high-quality copies of low-contrast originals (silver-containing original image of Spiritumdrucken, drawings on tracing paper) suitable »
