Abstract
Παρέχεται ένα σύστημα και μια μέθοδος για τη χρήση δεδομένων οπισθοσκέδασης και γνωστών παραμέτρων για τον χαρακτηρισμό του αγγειακού ιστού. Συγκεκριμένα, σε μια εφαρμογή της παρούσας εφεύρεσης, χρησιμοποιείται μια συσκευή υπερήχων (120) για την απόκτηση δεδομένων οπισθοσκέδασης RF (δηλ. δεδομένων IVUS) από ένα αιμοφόρο αγγείο. Τα δεδομένα IVUS στη συνέχεια μεταδίδονται σε μια υπολογιστική συσκευή (130) και χρησιμοποιούνται για να δημιουργήσουν μια εικόνα IVUS. Το αιμοφόρο αγγείο κατόπιν διατομώνεται και χρησιμοποιείται για τον προσδιορισμό του τύπου του ιστού και για τη δημιουργία μιας αντίστοιχης εικόνας (δηλ., της ιστολογικής εικόνας).
