Abstract
Un método de separar níquel y cobalto de un precipitado de níquel-cobalto, estando dicho cobalto en estado cobáltico, que comprende, disolver dicho precipitado en una solución de sulfato de amonio que contenga por lo menos alrededor de 100 gramos por litro de (NH4)2S4 y por lo menos alrededor de 50 gramos por litro de NH3 a una temperatura fluctuante de alrededor de 80grados C a 120grados C bajo una presión de por lo menos alrededor de 20 ppc norma, acidificando dicha solución a un pH de alrededor de 1.5 a 3.0 y refrescando dicha solución para producir un precipitado de sulfato de níquel-amonio altamente enriquecido en níquel, separando dicho precipitado de dicha solución, la cual contiene dicho cobalto y níquel residual, pasando dicha solución a través de una columna de intercambio de ión selectiva a la extracción que contiene dicho cobalto substancialmente libre de níquel, y pasado entonces dicha solución a recuperación de cobalto.
