Podstatou zariadenia je umožnit plynulý přestup tekutej farby na povrch farbiaceho valčeka pre vytváranie znakov, pričom sa zabezpečí plynulá prevádzka počítacieho stroja. Odstráni sa zhutňovanie povrchu farbiaceho valčeka, ako sa to stává u doteraz používaných farbiacich valčekov a odstráni sa čiastočné poškodzovanie—opotřebováváme znakov na znakovom válci.
