Abstract

In the manufacture of printing cloths or felts or coatings for use in rolls or cylinders or pre-determined diameter in printing machines (i) a cylindrical hollow body is cast centrifugally using a material selected from the group comprising liquid polymeric and pre-polymeric systems capable of forming macromolecular structures with elastomeric properties and (ii) after forming the macromolecular structure the cylindrical body is cut from one end to the other to form a naturally curved printing cloth or felt suitable for placing it on and fixing it to the curved surface of a printing roll. The roll or felt is of uniform thickness by virtue of the centrifugal casting technique and has a naturally curved form so that it can be applied to a cylindrically curved surface without deformation of or stresses in the material.
