Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable molding of a spigot which has an inner surface accuracy equivalent to that of a spigot of a holeless plastic tube, by a method wherein the end of a plastic pipe having a large number of holes in the direction of a pipe axis in a pipe wall is pressedly inserted into a spigot-forming mold under a heating condition. CONSTITUTION:The end of a porous pipe 3 having a large number of holes in the direction of a pipe axis in a pipe wall is heated, and said heated portion is pressedly inserted into a gap between a spigot-forming mold 1 and an outer mold 2 to be enlarged into a spigot. After a hole in the end 31 of the plastic pipe is closed by means of a proper system, a pressure medium, such as pressurized air P, is pressedly fed into through the hole in an end 32 of the plastic pipe. Feeding-in with pressure of said air P pressurizes the hole in he end of the porous plastic pipe between the molds 1 and 2, and said hole makes contact with a surface, where inner and outer pipe walls and said walls make contact with the molds, is increased in the pressure. This prevents the occurrence of waving at a spigot cross section, and permits the formation of a smooth inner surface of the spigot.
