Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance ink repellency at nonimage parts and the durability of the original plate by a method wherein a silicone-modified photosetting resin is jetted and coated imagewise on a support by ink jet process and then is photoset.
CONSTITUTION: When a voltage is applied to a cylindrical piezoelectric element 1 through electrodes 4, a glass nozzle 2 in the interior of the element 1 contracts, a solution 6 of the silicone-modified photosetting resin is jetted from the nozzle 2 and is coated on the support 3. For nonprinted nonimage parts, an AC voltage is applied to the element 1 to continuously jet the solution, while on the other hand, for the image parts to be printed the impression of voltage is stopped to stop the jetting of the solution, and these operations are conducted simultaneously with scanning. After the coating is completed, the support is irradiated with ultraviolet rays to polymerize and harden the resin on the support, obtaining the original plate rich in printing durability. As the support, a metal, plastic, paper or the like is used.
