背景技术
小部分的射频(RF)频谱被分配给各通信载波。被分配的频谱因此必须被有效使用以便使最大数量的频率用户能够使用该频谱。多路存取调制技术已经被开发以提供RF频谱的最佳使用。这样的调制技术的示例包括时分多址(TDMA)、频分多址(FDMA)、和码分多址(CDMA)。

发明内容

如果移动通信装置经由其蜂窝通信模块并通过蜂窝网络正在进行(即预先建立)通信,并且Wi-Fi天线系统检测具有第一预定电平(强度)的Wi-Fi信号,位于移动通信装置内的定时器被激活以建立第一预定大小的第一时间窗口。如果在第一时间窗口期间所检测的Wi-Fi信号电平保持等于或大于第一预定电平,则在第一时间窗口期满时,转换电路导致进行中的通信将从其蜂窝通信模块转换至其Wi-Fi通信模块并通过VoIP网络,而不会丢失进行中的通信。

如果在时间窗口T2期间检测的Wi-Fi信号电平小于Vth3,则在时间窗口T2期满时,定时器部件7被复位并激活以建立第三预定大小的第三时间窗口T3,其中T3小于T2。如果在时间窗口T3期间检测的Wi-Fi信号电平等于或大于Vth3,则先前所建立的VoIP通信继续而无需转换。
如果在时间窗口T3期间检测的Wi-Fi信号电平小于Vth3,则在时间窗口T3期满时,定时器部件7向网络转换部件6发送Wi-Fi拆卸信号和蜂窝链接信号。作为响应,网络转换部件6向Wi-Fi模块3发送拆卸信号,并且向蜂窝模块4发送链接信号。网络转换部件6还指示音频/视频放大器5生成音频/视频报警信号。所生成的音频报警信号随后由扬声器21重放,并且所生成的视频报警信号随后由显示监视器22重放。音频/视频报警音调适合于通知移动通信装置用户由Wi-Fi至蜂窝进行网络转换。
在接收到拆卸信号之后,Wi-Fi模块4适合于终止到VoIP网络的连接并且适合于切断到音频/视频放大器5的连接。在接收到Wi-Fi链接信号之后,蜂窝模块4适合于激活到蜂窝网络的连接并且适合于接通到音频/视频放大器5的连接。先前所建立的通信链路因此持续不间断并通过扬声器21、麦克风20和显示监视器23。
依照某些实施例,如果在建立通信链路之前移动通信装置检测到来自接入点的Wi-Fi信号和来自移动蜂窝基站的蜂窝信号,则移动通信装置首先试图利用Wi-Fi模块4来建立与Wi-Fi接入点的通信。
本发明的上述实施例是说明性的而非限制性的。各种替换和等效物都是可能的。可以理解,与上述任何块相关联的功能性可以是集中的或分布的,或为本地的或为远程的。还可以理解,各移动通信装置的一个或多个块可通过硬件、固件或软件或其中的某些组合来完成。本发明不受承载通信的蜂窝网络类型(如CDMA、GSM或其它方式)的限制。本发明也不受VoIP网络的限制。本发明不受用来承载VoIP通信的Wi-Fi信号(如由IEEE 802.11x定义的那些,其中x可以是a、b、g)或WiMAX的限制。本发明不受其中可布置本发明的集成电路类型的限制。本发明也不受限于可用来制造本发明的任何特定类型的处理技术(如CMOS、双极型、或BICMOS)。鉴于本发明,其他增加、减少或修改是显而易见的因而被认为是涵盖在所附权利要求的范围内。

Claims (16)

1.一种移动通信装置,包括:
蜂窝通信模块,适合于同无线蜂窝网络进行通信;
Wi-Fi通信模块,适合于同与利用VoIP协议的Wi-Fi网络相关联的接入点进行通信;以及
转换电路,适合于在所述蜂窝通信模块和所述Wi-Fi通信模块之间自动转换操作。
2.如权利要求1所述的移动通信装置,其中所述无线蜂窝网络从包含GSM、CDMA和CDMA2000无线蜂窝网络的组中选择。
3.如权利要求2所述的移动通信装置,其中所述Wi-Fi网络从包含IEEE 802.11x、Wi-Fi和WiMAX网络的组中选择。
4.如权利要求3所述的移动通信装置,还包括:
定时器;以及
Wi-Fi信号监视器;其中如果所述Wi-Fi信号监视器检测到第一Wi-Fi信号电平大于第一预定阈值Vth1,则所述定时器被激活以建立第一预定大小的第一时间窗口T1,其中如果在T1期间,所述Wi-Fi信号监视器检测到第二Wi-Fi信号电平等于或大于Vth1,则在所述第一时间窗口期满时,所述转换电路向所述蜂窝通信模块发送拆卸信号并向所述Wi-Fi通信模块发送链接信号,其中所述拆卸信号导致所述蜂窝通信模块中断处理先前建立的蜂窝通信,并且其中所述链接信号导致所述Wi-Fi通信模块经由VoIP网络处理所述先前建立的蜂窝通信。
5.如权利要求4所述的移动通信装置,其中所述拆卸信号导致所述蜂窝通信模块进入休眠模式。
6.如权利要求4所述的移动通信装置,其中在所述定时器激活时,所述网络转换电路导致所述Wi-Fi通信模块的状态从休眠模式改变到活动模式。
7.如权利要求4所述的移动通信装置,其中所述第一和第二Wi-Fi信号电平各由所接收的Wi-Fi信号的相应的多个取样来限定。
8.如权利要求4所述的移动通信装置,其中如果所述Wi-Fi信号监视器检测到所述Wi-Fi信号电平低于第二预定阈值Vth2,则所述定时器被激活以建立第二预定大小的第二时间窗口T2,其中如果在时间窗口T2期间,所述Wi-Fi信号监视器检测到Wi-Fi信号电平等于或大于第三预定阈值Vth3,则先前所建立的VoIP通信继续而无需转换,其中Vth3小于Vth2
9.如权利要求8所述的移动通信装置,其中如果在时间窗口T2期间,所述Wi-Fi信号监视器检测到所述Wi-Fi信号电平小于Vth3,则在时间窗口T2期满时,所述定时器部件被激活以建立第三预定大小的第三时间窗口T3,其中T3小于T2,其中如果在时间窗口T3期间,所述Wi-Fi信号监视器检测到所述Wi-Fi信号电平小于Vth3,则所述转换电路向所述Wi-Fi通信模块发送拆卸信号并向所述蜂窝通信模块发送链接信号,其中所述拆卸信号导致所述Wi-Fi通信模块中断处理先前建立的VoIP通信,并且其中所述链接信号导致所述蜂窝通信模块经由蜂窝网络处理所述先前建立的VoIP通信。
10.如权利要求9所述的移动通信装置,其中在预定时段T2期满时,所述网络转换电路导致所述蜂窝通信模块的状态从休眠模式改变到活动模式。
11.一种方法,包括以下步骤:
检测第一Wi-Fi信号电平;
如果所检测的第一Wi-Fi信号电平大于第一预定阈值Vth1,则建立第一预定大小的第一时间窗口T1
在所述第一时间窗口期间检测第二Wi-Fi信号电平;
如果所检测到的第二Wi-Fi信号电平大于Vth1,则将经由蜂窝无线网络的进行中的通信自动转换至经由VoIP网络的通信。
12.如权利要求11所述方法,其中所述无线蜂窝网络从包含GSM、CDMA和CDMA2000无线蜂窝网络的组中选择。
13.如权利要求11所述方法,其中所述VoIP网络与从包含IEEE802.11x、Wi-Fi和WiMAX网络的组中选择的网络进行通信。
14.如权利要求11所述方法,其中所述第一和第二Wi-Fi信号电平各由所接收的Wi-Fi信号的相应的多个取样来限定。
15.如权利要求11所述方法,还包括以下步骤:
检测第三Wi-Fi信号电平;
如果所检测到的第三Wi-Fi信号电平低于第二预定阈值Vth2,则建立第二预定大小的第二时间窗口T2
在所述第二时间窗口期间检测第四Wi-Fi信号电平;
如果所检测到的第四Wi-Fi信号电平等于或大于第三预定阈值Vth3,其中Vth3小于Vth2,则继续VoIP通信而无需改变。
16.如权利要求15所述方法,还包括以下步骤:
如果所检测到的第四Wi-Fi信号电平小于Vth3,则建立第三预定大小的第三时间窗口T3
在所述第三时间窗口期间检测第五Wi-Fi信号电平;
如果所检测到的第五Wi-Fi信号电平小于Vth3,则将经由VoIP无线网络的进行中的通信自动转换至经由蜂窝网络的通信。
