Abstract

本文中使用的术语“宠物”包括犬、猫和啮齿动物,例如毛丝鼠(chinchilla)、豚鼠、八齿鼠、小鼠、沙鼠、仓鼠、大鼠、黑脚黄鼠(ferret)和兔类动物,例如兔子。所有年龄的动物都包括在内,例如,成年动物、半成年(medium age)和较老的动物。本发明主要针对犬和猫。
牙菌斑是柔软的、凝胶状的物质,它由细菌及其代谢副产物、口腔碎屑和唾液组分构成。成熟的牙菌斑不能通过舌头的正常动作或通过嘴的活动来去除。更确切地,来自咀嚼或刷牙的机械磨蚀对去除牙菌斑来说是必要的。

聚合物适合以大约0.01%(按重量计)至大约5%(按重量计)的含量存在,优选为大约0.01%(按重量计)至大约3%(按重量计),都是基于宠物食品组合物的总重而言的。
根据本发明的宠物食品可以以任何传统的宠物食品为基础。可利用的宠物食品范围宽广,它们可以被分为三类(a)完全膳食、(b)补充膳食以及(c)点心和零食。完全膳食可以与水一起进行长期的喂养,它可以作为营养物质的唯一来源,提供动物所有的能量和营养需要以及希望动物达到的生理状态所需的能量和营养需要。补充膳食一般不足以确保所有的营养和能量需求都能达到,除非将其和另外的食物或膳食联合起来进行喂养。点心和零食是开胃食品或者是用于偶尔的喂饲,其被认为是补充产品。然而,还有很多产品可用于构成日常膳食的一部分或对动物的幸福生活发挥作用,例如牙齿咀嚼物(dental chew)。在本发明中,牙齿咀嚼物是尤其适合的。

被部分显示于图1至图4中的结果如下:
