随着WLAN逐渐普及,WLAN建立在更多数量的商业设施和公共场所中,诸如咖啡馆、机场、图书馆、学校以及会议中心。由于订制不同服务提供商的服务的不同人群在这些场所表达了希望接入WLAN服务的需求,因此对于提供商来说,将发展需要以提供交叠服务。但是,当前对于AP的共享并没有规定任何过程。相反地,在当前最新技术中,每个提供商提供独立的AP,其配置以自己的SSID并且广播该SSID。这样的系统十分浪费,因为它迫使服务提供商提供冗余的系统。而且,提供WLAN服务的可用带宽是有限的,主要的WLAN场所,诸如机场和会议中心,可能不具有足够的带宽来支持多个服务提供商中每个所使用的交叠AP。
此外,当前最新技术仅仅允许用户根据SSID来选择服务提供商。当用户能够接入多个服务提供商的每个的网络时,SSID独自不可能向用户提供足够的信息来作出有关使用哪个服务提供商的充分有见识(fully informed)的决定。而且,当用户执行被动扫描时,用户可能不得不在选择与所需服务提供商相关联的SSID之前扫描和处理多个信标,消耗了向MS供电的有限寿命电池的过多的电量。
因此,需要一种方法和装置,允许接入WLAN的MS用户根据一个或多个标准,诸如每个服务提供商所支持的服务、服务价格、付费方法、访问的网络提供商和用户的归属网络之间的关系,从多个服务提供商中选择服务提供商,并进一步允许多个服务提供商共享AP。

为了解决上述需要,即一种方法和装置,用于允许接入无线局域网(WLAN)的MS用户根据一个或多个标准,诸如每个服务提供商所支持的服务、服务价格、付费方法、访问的网络提供商和用户的归属网络之间的关系,从多个服务提供商中选择服务提供商,并进一步允许多个服务提供商共享AP,提供一种WLAN通信系统,其包括与移动站通信的接入点,至少一个鉴别、授权、结算(AAA)服务器提供鉴别过程,由此移动站用户可以在被鉴别之前从一个或多个WLAN服务提供商和/或一个或多个3GPP服务提供商中选择WLAM服务提供商,进一步根据与所选服务提供商相关联的、除了服务集标识符(SSID)之外的网络服务信息来作出订制所选服务提供商的服务的决定。

Claims (11)
1.一种用于提供网络服务信息给接入无线局域网的移动站用户的方法,包括:
接收鉴别移动站的请求;和
作为对接收到上述请求的响应,传送关于多个服务提供商中每个服务提供商的网络识别和服务信息到移动站。
2.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中,鉴别移动站的请求与网络识别和服务信息每个都是在媒介接入控制层消息中传送的。
3.如权利要求1所述的方法,进一步包括:
请求鉴别信息;和
接收包括对从多个服务提供商中选择服务提供商的选择的鉴别信息。
4.如权利要求3所述的方法,进一步包括:
根据接收到的鉴别信息来确定鉴别、授权、结算服务器;和
通过确定的鉴别、授权、结算服务器来请求对移动站的授权。
5.一种用于接入无线局域网的方法,包括:
传送鉴别移动站的请求;
接收关于服务提供商的网络识别和服务信息;和
根据接收到的网络识别和服务信息来确定是否接入无线局域网。
6.如权利要求5所述的方法,其中,鉴别移动站的请求与网络识别和服务信息每个都是在媒介接入控制层消息中传送的。
7.如权利要求5所述的方法,其中,接收关于服务提供商的网络识别和服务信息包括接收关于多个服务提供商中的每个服务提供商的网络识别和服务信息,并且其中,该方法进一步包括:
接收对鉴别信息的请求;和
传送对从多个服务提供商中选择服务提供商的选择。
8.一种无线局域网中的接入点,包括:
存储器,储存关联于多个服务提供商中每个服务提供商的服务提供商标识符和网络服务信息;和
处理器,连接到存储器,组装一个或多个消息,所述消息包括与多个服务提供商中每个服务提供商相关联的服务提供商标识符和网络服务信息,并将这一个或多个消息传送到移动站。
9.如权利要求8所述的接入点,其中,所述一个或多个消息包括第一一个或多个消息,并且其中,所述处理器接收鉴别移动站的请求,作为对接收到该请求的响应,组装所述第一一个或多个消息,进而组装包括对鉴别信息的请求的第二消息,然后将所述第二消息传送到移动站。
10.如权利要求9所述的接入点,其中,所述处理器进而响应于传送对鉴别信息的请求,接收所请求的鉴别信息,而且,作为对接收到所请求的鉴别信息的响应,组装请求对移动站的授权的第三消息,然后将所述第三消息传送到服务器。
11.如权利要求10所述的接入点,其中,所述存储器,关联于服务器,储存服务提供商标识符,其中,所接收到的鉴别信息包括服务提供商标识符,并且其中,所述处理器根据所接收到的服务提供商标识符来确定所述服务器。
