本发明涉及视频显示器。
背景技术
在视频显示系统、例如基于计算机的视频显示系统中,通常难以让用户了解什么视频材料可用于查看而无需浪费大量时间人工搜索材料。
已经提出采用所谓的代表图像(常常称作“缩略图”或“关键帧”)来表示一段视频材料的内容。代表图像通常取自一段材料中的固定点,例如第一帧。在一长段材料中,这种单一图像可能不提供对于材料的整体内容的良好指示。具体来说,序列的第一图像可能无效-例如空白图像或测试图案。
为了解决这个问题,已经提出可采用多个代表图像。M.Guillemot等人的“通过互联网浏览视频的分层关键帧用户界面”的论文(IDIAP-COM 03-02,2003年8月)公开了一种配置,用户借此可选择一级或两级增加的细节,其中的每个提供更多数量的代表图像。
发明内容
本发明提供一种用于显示一个或多个候选视频项的目录供重放的视频显示设备,各视频项在目录中通过具有至少一个所显示代表图像的目录条目来表示;该设备包括:
用户控制装置,可用于通过选择-拖拉操作对所显示目录条目调整大小;以及
响应目录条目的大小调整而选择多个不同代表图像以便相对于那个视频项进行显示、使得所显示的数量随着增加的目录条目大小而增加、同时各代表图像的显示大小相对目录条目大小的变化实质上保持恒定的部件。
在本发明的实施例中,只通过一次快速交互,用户便可询问视频项的内容,其程度可让他们查看到足够的内容以便判定是否查看视频项,从而让他们满意。
当用户展开目录条目时,系统智能地采用那个视频项的更多代表图像来填充空间。用户展开的目录条目越多,则他们查看到更多信息。这种扩展性使用户可以查看他们进行媒体是否是他们正寻找的判定所需的内容。当他们看到足够内容时,他们便结束选择-拖拉操作(例如从鼠标上抬起他们的手指),并转移到下一个操作。
本发明使用户可以快速询问目录,而无需开启界面中的另一个屏幕或面板(例如“更多信息”、“详细情况”、“情节串连图板”等)。
Guil lemot等人的论文为用户提供目录列表。紧挨着每个代表图像的是“+”按钮。用户必需点击“+”按钮以查看代表图像表示的项目的情节串连图板。紧挨着各另一个图像的是另一个“+”按钮,用户点击此按钮来提供另一个图像之下的快照细目分类。应当注意:
(a)这要求3次交互来询问单一项目,并且可能是一个缓慢的过程。
(b)“+”按钮类似于“更多信息”或“情节串连图板”按钮,并且看来不会增加优于传统情节串连图板的任何好处。

具体实施方式
图1是基于通用计算机10的视频重放系统的示意图,其中具有包括程序和数据的磁盘存储器30、连接到诸如以太网或因特网等的网络50的网络接口卡40的处理器单元20、诸如阴极射线管装置60等的显示装置、键盘70以及诸如鼠标80等的输入装置。系统在程序控制下进行工作,程序存储在磁盘存储器30中,以及例如通过网络50、可移动磁盘(未示出)或者在磁盘存储器30中预先安装来提供。
图2示意说明例如在显示器60上显示的显示屏幕。为了清楚起见,显示屏幕的所有特征不一定全部示出,但重要的特征为:播放器窗口100、视频播放器控件110以及含有代表关键帧(图像)130的目录区域120。
各代表关键帧130对应于不同的相应视频材料段。关键帧例如可以是相应视频项的第一图像,或者可通过诸如色调直方图的分析等的统计技术作为“最具代表性的”图像导出。这类技术是已知的,不需要在本描述中进一步说明。
用户可通过把鼠标指针放置于关键帧130上并进行单次“点击”来选择视频材料的项目。这会使所选视频项的第一帧以“暂停”方式显示在重放窗口100中。然后可通过从控件110中选择播放控件来开始重放。
或者,在关键帧130上的“双击”使得在查看窗口100中开始(从头开始)相应视频项的回放。
目录120中的每个条目(关键帧)可调整大小。图3A至3D示意说明可调整大小的目录条目以及大小调整技术背后的目的。
参照图3A,示出关键帧130。为了使这个关键帧在图3A至3D中被沿用,关键帧标记为关键帧(A)。
采用鼠标指针160,用户可“抓取”(点击保持)关键帧130,并对它调整大小。这在实际上不改变初始关键帧A的大小或位置,而是打开窗口、区域或框150(称作“框”,但不一定将它限制为矩形),它在展开时容纳更多关键帧。
因此,在图3B中,包含另一个关键帧132(标记为“B”)。在图3C中,框150已经被展开,以致于包含另外两个关键帧134和136(“C”和“D”)。在图3d中,框150的形状已经改变,使得包含另外两个关键帧138和140。注意,它们标记为“E”和“F”,尽管实际上可能是关键帧“C”和“D”。但是,它们不必与“C”和“D”相同。
一般来说,在这个过程中,一旦已经在相对初始关键帧130的某个显示位置上显示关键帧,它继续被显示,只要框150大到仍然足以包含它。
关键帧最好是仅作为整体关键帧被添加。也就是说,随着框150展开,当它通过大到足以包含一个或多个另外的关键帧的阈值大小时,那一个或多个另外的关键帧在单个步骤中被添加。也就是说,不显示部分关键帧。但是,相反的情况无疑是可能的,使得当框少量展开时,显示相应的少量新显示关键帧。
下面参照图4和图5来描述关键帧“B至F”的起源。
再参照图2,可以看到,对于至少一些关键帧130,当框150从关键帧展开时,它可能遮掩显示的其它重要部分。但是,在本实施例中,一旦关键帧中的一个被选取以便开始重放,框150即消失,因而可再次看到查看窗口。
显示为框150的关键帧从视频项的不同部分被扩展。因此,当框展开时,为用户提供视频项的整个内容的加深印象。另外,假定各关键帧在视频项中具有相应的时间位置,优选的是,当选取关键帧(通过上述点击或双击操作)时,建立或开始视频重放,自对应于那个关键帧的时间位置开始。因此,关键帧提供到视频材料中的不同时间位置的链接。同样,这对于尝试快速浏览视频材料段的用户可能极为有用。
基本上,可采用这种技术来显示任何数量的关键帧。当与关键帧的大小进行比较时,限制无疑是显示屏幕60上可用的图像大小。关键帧最好是当框150展开时保持相同大小,也就是说,关键帧的数量增加,但各关键帧的大小既不增加也不减小。
图4示意说明从视频材料项中导出的一组代表关键帧。视频项由水平条200表示,其中的时间沿水平方向继续。垂直条210示意说明如已知的画面变化检测算法所检测的视频材料中的画面变化。对10的画面变化把视频项200分为相应段,以及对于各相应画面导出关键帧G...L。(这可能例如是各画面的中心帧,或者例如是各画面的“最具代表性”帧,如上所述)。

用于驱动关键帧以便显示的另一种技术如图5A至5E所示。在这里,第一关键帧M被看作视频材料的第一帧。在图5B中,第二关键N被看作材料的最后帧。当需要第三关键帧0时,它被看作材料的中间(或最接近中部)关键帧。

Claims (12)

1.一种用于显示一个或多个候选视频项的目录供重放的视频显示设备,各视频项在所述目录中通过具有至少一个所显示代表图像的目录条目来表示;所述设备包括:
用户控制装置,可用于通过选择-拖拉操作对所显示目录条目调整大小;以及
响应目录条目的大小调整而选择多个不同代表图像以供相对于那个视频项的显示、使得所显示的数量随着增加的所述目录条目大小而增加、同时各代表图像的显示大小相对所述目录条目大小的变化实质上保持恒定的部件。
