交替消毒剂和氧化剂的EPA用户手册(The EPA guidance manual onAlternate Disinfectants and Oxidants)(1999年4月)在第八章对用作饮用水的消毒UV进行了讨论。所述手册指出波长为240至280nm的UV被微生物的RNA和DNA高度吸收。通过有机体对UV的吸收导致对有机体的复制能力的损伤。所述损伤经常通过嘧啶分子二聚酌导致。这使得DNA的螺旋结构扭曲。EPA用户手册也提出使得大多数的有机体类型90%不再获得的剂量非常低,典型的范围是2至6mJ/cm2。所述手册提出杀菌辐射可以通过包括在254nm发射的低压水银灯、在180至1370nm发射的中等压力灯、或者在以高强度脉冲的方式以其它波长发射的灯多个源来产生。
还必须注意,为了有效地治疗感染,杀死和使得所有的有机体都非活性是不必要的。如果导致感染的相当量的有机体被消灭或者使得非活性,主体的自然防疫将工作来消除感染。这样,治愈感染所必须的辐射剂量可以比需要通过消灭所有的有机体所必须的剂量要低很多。
其它类型的杀菌辐射
专利5,900,211(Dunn,1999)也提出不仅UVC可以用于对水和食物进行消毒。Dunn讨论了使用脉冲多色光来使得有机体非活性。Dunn使用比用额外的热来消灭其所必须的能量更低的能量来使得有机体非活性。但是,Dunn只将此技术应用于对食物和其它材料来杀菌,而没有考虑到将其用于对皮肤或者指甲感染。这大概是因为光不能穿透皮肤或者指甲(Dunn指出光的有效性依赖于其有效穿透介质的能力)。
使用UVC来杀死和使得有机体非活性的现有技术
专利6,254,625(Rosenthal,2001)是用于对手进行消毒的装置来防止感染有机体扩展。此装置利用光来对手的表面进行消毒来防止感染从一个人传递到另外一个人。在所有的实施例中,其包括至少两项。其利用光杀死有机体,同时或者利用额外的光来复原地治愈被辐射的皮肤,或者利用臭氧来增加杀死有机体的效率。复原治愈光利用了光反应的现象,由此受损的细胞和有机体可以使用这样的不同波长的光来修复所述损坏。将包括此种类型的光源作为所述装置的一部分显示出导致有机体的疾病被杀死或者不止是非活性,它们也可以通过光复合作用来修复损伤。此外,所述专利没有考虑到将所述装置应用到皮肤的受感染区域,它也没有提及使用电磁辐射来治疗对指甲的任何感染。所述装置依赖于使用臭氧来杀死指甲或者通过死细胞屏蔽的任何有机体,并不正确地指出UVC辐射不会穿透指甲。Rosenthal似乎没有意识到杀菌UV能够穿透皮肤和指甲并用于治疗感染。
专利6,283,986(Johnson,2001)讨论了使用UVC辐射来治疗创伤。但是,Johnson只将辐射应用到了开放创伤上,所述创伤会很容易暴露,并提出“考虑到UVC是短波,皮下组织不会被穿透”。此专利没有提及皮肤感染和提及整个指甲都没有的情况,尽管指甲感染是真皮感染的很大一部分。可能所述专利只应用到了创伤的原因是它们本身是开口的创伤,由此能够让它们的表面被辐射。Johnson好像没有注意到杀菌辐射能够穿透皮肤和指甲的能力。
杀菌光不能穿透皮肤和指甲可能是一个误解,这部分阻止了发现杀菌辐射(包括UVC)确实能够穿透到足以成功治疗皮肤和指甲感染的深度。尽管皮肤和指甲能够吸收很大百分比的UVC,足够的UVC可以穿透以成功治疗和防止感染。
指甲感染和治疗
指甲感染是普通人群中尤其显著的问题,影响了大概5%的总人口(大约1500万人)。这个比例在年长人群、运动员和其它在足部区域中具有更多的湿气的个人中相对更高。指甲感染经常由真菌导致,此种类型的感染被称为“甲真菌病(onychomycosis)”。现在,防止和治疗皮肤和指甲感染的优选方法依赖于局部药物治疗或者药物摄取的应用。这些药物治疗被用于治疗现有的感染,而不是用于防止感染。使用药物治疗的治疗成本在每个疗程是600至1200美圆,并持续三到六个月。这就是对指甲采用药物治疗所需要的时间。然后需要另外的一个到六个月的时间来对指甲完全不受感染。需要注意上述没有考虑到医生访问或者诊断试验来确定病人可以忍受药物治疗(许多药物治疗可能导致肝脏和其它损伤)。
与口服抗真菌药物相关的问题可以通过引用伊曲康唑胶囊(由JanssenPharmaceutica公司在商标名称SPORANOX进行市场推广)的临床试验的结果,这是1996年美国开出最多的抗真菌药。脚趾甲的甲真菌病的治疗成功率报道如下-“研究显示真菌治疗的结果是...病人的54%。35%的病人被认为是完全康复(真菌治愈加上完全或者最小的指甲涉及显著的症状减小)以及14%的病人显示了真菌治愈(所有症状消失,没有或者具有参与指甲变形”。至于负面反应——“SPORANOX具有非常罕见的严重肝中毒,包括肝脏丧失功能和死亡。一些病例既没有预先的肝脏疾病也没有严重的潜在治疗状态”。在602个病人的系统真菌疾病的研究中,“由于负面的效果10.5%的病人停止了治疗”。
尽管现有治疗指甲感染的优选方法是使用口服药物,也有其它的治疗被使用。这几个典型应用被用于治疗指甲的真菌感染。但是,这些方法比口服药物具有更差的成功率,并可能导致感染重新出现。
专利No.6,090,788(Lurie,2000年7月8日)是通过将色素引入到受感染区域然后用激光加热受感染区域中的色素以升高温度足以通过足够的热量来杀死导致感染的细菌从而消灭真菌感染的专利。优选实施例中所列出的能量从5至15J/cm2,并具有相对较长的波长(通常是500至700nm)以穿透指甲。大量的能量足以导致周围区域的多余热量消灭有机体。但是,这样的高能量水平也在周围的组织上造成不利的效果,例如红肿。
Lurie不正确地提出典型的真菌不具有色素,由此不能吸收光。但是,所有的细胞吸收240至280nm波长之间的光,因为有机体中的DNA将在此波长吸收光。同样,Lurie没有认识到这样的事实:有机体通常在使用多余热量来杀死它们所必须的剂量要低很多的剂量上能够非活性。由于治疗上的复杂属性,专利No.6,090,788作为治疗感染的方法,而不是为了防止感染。
Lurie提出“广泛需要并且具有用于治疗皮肤和指甲病原体的光线治疗方法以及使其有效的药物成分是高度有利的”。可以增加的是更加需要只是使用杀菌辐射的治疗皮肤和指甲感染的方法,尤其是如果所述辐射在比高能量激光更低的剂量上有效的话,并且不具有与高能量激光所具有的负面效果。
发明内容
相应地,我的发明有以下几个目标和优点:
提供了一种直接的治疗受感染区域的装置,这样消除了影响整个身体的口服药物的需要,所述口服药物具有严重的负面效果,并且在治疗感染时具有有限的成功率。
提供了一种使用在较短的时间周期(通常小于一个月)上使用非常小数目的处理(1至大约12)来治疗受感染的区域的装置,而消化口服医药的周期大约是3个月或者更多。
一种比当前每疗程需要600美圆至1200美圆外加监测负面效果所需要的额外成本更为有效的治疗感染的装置。
一种用于在与需要等待三到六个月来使得药物治疗生效相比具有更短的时间(通常小于一个月)来处理感染的装置。
一种装置,所述装置使用最小量的辐射来使得有机体非活性,而不是通过额外的热量来消灭感染的较大能量的辐射治疗。这也极大地减小了由于使用过度能量所引起复杂情况的可能性。

本发明用于治疗和防止皮肤和指甲感染,这将在后面参照附图进行详细说明,其中显示了本发明的优选实施例。但是,本发明可以用许多不同的形式来实施,并可以认为是不受现有实施例的限制;这些实施例被提供,这样此公开将变得彻底和完整,并将本发明的范围完全传递给普通技术人员。
本发明的优选实施例显示在图1中。本发明是用于防止皮肤和指甲感染的方法并用于治疗现有的受感染的皮肤和指甲。所述方法用使用杀菌辐射的原先被忽视的能力来充分穿透皮肤和指甲以防止和治疗指甲感染。所述治疗方法使用电磁辐射10和辐射12源辐射将被治疗的皮肤14和指甲16的区域。所述装置18可以被提供以防止所述辐射12辐射其它不需要治疗的皮肤20和指甲22的其它区域。开口24允许所述辐射12到达受感染区域14和16。装置26也被提供以保护眼睛受电磁辐射的影响。
所述治疗可以通过将本发明应用到发生在2001年夏天的指甲感染来进行说明。图2是当其大约在2001年9月1日大致有一个月时的左大脚趾30的指甲32的感染的草图,并扩展到了大约指甲的20%。大左脚趾30未受影响,但是,脚趾甲32具有三个主要的感染区域32、34和36。上左受感染区域34是黑色的并相对较小。中间受感染区域36是红褐色的并覆盖大约指甲的20%。甲床38也受感染,所述感染部分延展到皮肤之下。
指甲32的初始辐射是在2001年9月5日。电磁辐射源是低压水银灯(型号G6T5),由美国新泽西州Murray Hill Ultraviolet公司制造。所述灯能够在254nm的波长在1m提供11uw/cm2。所述灯在离指甲32四英寸的距离使用三分钟大约37,000uw-sec/cm2剂量。所述治疗在治疗指甲36的较大感染上表现得比较成功。但是,指甲的受感染区域,主要是受感染的甲床38,在接下来的两个月继续长大使得必须进行额外的治疗。等同于第一治疗的治疗在2001年10月6、7、8、30和31以及2001年11月1日进行。最后一次处理在2001年11月8日,总剂量大约达到100,000uw-sec/cm2(所述灯从指甲4英寸的距离使用大约8分钟)。总共进行了8次处理,施加了总剂量大约为360,000uw-sec/cm2(360mw-sec/cm2或者360mJ/cm2)。
对没有治疗的指甲和皮肤22和24的所有治疗区域覆盖衣服以防止暴露。在治疗之后只注意到稍微的红斑(E0至E1),并在任何的处理的过程中和之后没有痛感。注意到甲床38(指甲连接皮肤的地方)显著受感染并是最难于治疗的地方。到2001年12月18日,很明显所述感染非活性。
图3显示了最后治疗之后大约9个月的指甲32。脚趾30没有变化。脚趾甲32现在完全从感染恢复,除了上右44中的指甲的较小区域外,所述上右44具有长出的坏死的感染的最后部分。此原先感染区域44白垩色并没有感染活动的迹象。
本发明的详细说明
用于防止和治疗皮肤和指甲感染的方法将杀菌电磁辐射和原先所述辐射未识别的能力组合以有效穿透指甲和皮肤以使得有机体非活性。
本发明的最好的实施方式的下述详细说明不是出于限制的目的,而只是用于说明本发明的总的原则。本发明的范围需要用权利要求进行确定。
如上所述,本发明使用杀菌辐射来防止和治疗皮肤和指甲感染。为了成功治疗这些感染,必须提供性质上能够杀菌的辐射,并能够穿透感染的位置,并传递足够的时间和强度以使得有机体非活性。所述治疗使用预先未识别的杀菌辐射能力来充分穿透皮肤和指甲以使得皮肤和指甲感染的有机体非活性。同样,尽管本发明使用人作为试验客体,可以认为所述治疗可以使用到人以及动物试验客体上。
所述方法能够用于治疗和防止皮肤和指甲的所有的感染。这包括了由金黄色葡萄球菌(Staphylococcus aureus)、链球菌火成作用(Streptococcuspyrogenes)、假单胞菌aeriginosa(psuedomonas aeriginosa)以及其它导致皮肤感染的有机体所导致的最常见的皮肤感染。也包括由细菌、真菌(包括dermaphytes、酵母菌、霉菌和非dermaphyte霉菌)、病毒和其它微生物所导致的指甲感染。特别地,导致指甲的真菌感染的有机体、所述感染被称为甲真菌病,包括在本发明治疗的有机体列表中。其尤其包括apergillusspp.,红色毛癣菌、须毛癣菌、发癣菌schoenleinii(trichophytonschoenleinii),断发毛癣菌、表皮癣菌属floccsum(epidermophytonfloccsum)、小孢霉属种(microsporum spp.)、尖芽孢镰刀菌、scopulariopsisbrevicaulis、acremmonium spp.和Scytalidium dimadiaturn,这些是导致甲真菌病的主要原因。
UVC
杀菌辐射的最容易识别的形式是240至280nm范围中的UVC辐射。此范围中的辐射被细胞的RNA和DNA吸收病损害细胞的复制能力。被发现用于使得有机体非活性的辐射的其它形式包括180至1370nm的源和以高强度脉冲方式发射的源。尽管作者不希望受到任何理论操作的限制,可以详细杀菌光通过损害其基因材料或者通过损害细胞而影响复制的能力,这样其不能存活和繁殖。
已经观察到有机体对杀菌辐射具有变化其抵抗力的效果。对于大多数有机体而言,5至10,000mw-sec/cm2(5mJ/cm2至10J/cm2)的剂量足以完成使得有机体非活性。此剂量可以施加到几个分离的段,但是,必须注意不能使有机体在治疗之间恢复和再次滋生。
优选地,辐射选择是在通过低压水银灯或者通过激光很容易产生的254nm范围的UVC。此类型的辐射源(通常是水银灯)很容易从多个制造商获得,许多有机体对此种光需要扩展的非活性剂量列表。此类型的辐射是对诸如医院之类的建筑中的空气进行杀菌以及对饮用水进行杀菌的优选形式。在254nm输出的激光是辐射的另外的优选源。激光在低压水银灯上更为有效,因为其可以准确地传输预定剂量或者辐射,而不影响相邻区域。此类型的激光现在可以商用获得,并用于在其它装置中制造集成电路。
也可以在不知道是什么有机体导致感染的情况下使用辐射来治疗指甲或者皮肤感染。但是,这样做的危险在于要么施加辐射不足要么施加过多辐射。因此,当处理感染时,最好诊断是什么有机体导致感染。一旦感染的原因被确定,执业医生可以参考UVC表,这可以从杀菌灯的制造商出获得。许多表列在254nm的UV剂量上一些列出多于50种的需要让它们非活性的不同的有机体。所述表可以从美国Ultraviolet公司获得(新泽西Murray Hill)、Atlantic Ultraviolet公司(纽约Hauppauge)、其它制造商,以及研究机构获得。此处并入Ultraviolet公司、Atlantic Ultraviolet公司提供的非活性表,作为进一步说明。
一旦导致感染的有机体被确定之后,可以从表上获得254nm处所必须的UV剂量,执业医生可以确定从灯从皮肤之上需要保持的距离,以及必须辐射以传递必须剂量所需要的时间。杀菌灯的制造商提供了公式来确定这些参数。

为了确定感染的原因,执业医生通常从试样中培养有机体,或者基于视觉观察来进行临床确定。
接着执业医生必须确定杀菌辐射所必须的剂量。非活性剂量在图中对许多导致皮肤感染的诸如金黄色葡萄球菌(6,600uw-sec/cm2来使其非活性)、streptococcus pyrogenes(4,200uw-sec/cm2来使其非活性)和psuedomonas aeriginosa(10,500uw-sec/cm2来使其非活性)的有机体可以获取。此外,新的有机体在针对UVC光的杀菌效果进行更多的研究时可以被添加到其中。如果有机体没有列在表上,其可以推测可能的非活性的剂量。例如,多于50种类型的细菌列在制造商的表上,所有的非活性范围都是2,500至26,400uw/cm2(除了炭疽热孢子,其尤其难于治疗并具有公开的9,400至135,000uw/cm2来使其非活性)。因此如果一个人受到细菌感染,而且不能确定其起因,执业医生可以在所述范围的高端辐射所述感染来使其非活性。随着感染的杀菌治疗变得普遍,可以预期所有主要的有机体可以很大的准确性确定非活性剂量。
皮肤感染因为结壳和残余物以及由于所述区域的敏感性通常难于治疗。在杀菌辐射被结壳和残余物削弱时,如果施加合适的剂量,所述辐射必须能够穿透足够深以具有有效的效果。但是,好的做法是移除所有的结壳和残余物以获得最大的辐射效果。在特别深的感染中必须展开治疗,这样感染的表面可以愈合并允许辐射更容易施加到更深的水平(清洁的皮肤将允许辐射比厚且不透明的结壳更容易通过)。
如果执业医生确定所述感染由金黄色葡萄球菌(皮肤感染的经常原因)所导致,她然后可以查表并确定非活性剂量是6,600uw-sec/cm2。这通过使用G6T5低压灯来实现,此灯可以从美国Ultraviolet公司(AUC)获得。所述灯使用固定物和压载物,这与荧光灯相似。所述灯在一米的距离提供11uw/cm2。如果所述灯与感染处保持6英寸的距离,将所施加的辐射1米转换到在6英寸施加的乘积因子从美国Ultraviolet公司所提供的表上可以获得。这个因子是12。因此从感染处保持6英寸的G6T5灯将辐射132uw/cm2(11uw/cm2乘以转换因子12)。这样,执业医生将需要对一个人在距离感染处6英寸辐射50秒(6,600uw-sec/cm2除以132uw/cm2)以使得有机体非活性。但是实际上,使用大约必须使得有机体非活性的辐射名义值的两倍作为安全系数来辐射一个人是理想的。将总的辐射在两个疗程中施加也是理想的,每个6,600uw-sec/cm2来使得辐射的日剂量最小化,同时也施加安全因子2。
一旦施加辐射,执业医生可以计划正常的后续预约以监测所述感染的状态。如果所述感染持续扩展,执业医生施加额外的辐射剂量来使得导致感染的有机体非活性。
治疗指甲感染的示例
治疗指甲感染与治疗皮肤感染相似,只有另外一点。当治疗指甲感染时,必须考虑到指甲的透明度和其传输辐射的能力。而未感染清晰的指甲由于其相对半透明的属性可以传输相对较大量的辐射,通过感染变暗或者变厚的指甲将能够显著降低传输。因此,如果可能,获得和试验较小的指甲的试样来确定光可以传输的量是理想的。所述试验必须使用将用于治疗的光的波长,因为不同波长的光具有不同的穿透指甲的能力。在缺少实际的指甲试验时,执业医生用经验可以估计可以穿透受感染指甲的光量。在严重感染和变厚的指甲中少于10%的光可以通过,电磁辐射的剂量必须相应地调整。例如,如果确定指甲只能传输254nm的光10%,有机体所需的剂量是99,000uw-sec/cm2(黄曲霉是导致指甲感染的真菌,其需要此UV254剂量来使得其非活性),然后在十次这个能量上,或者99,000uw-sec/cm2将需要施加来使得有机体非活性。与皮肤感染相似,也需要采用安全因子。
皮肤和指甲感染的防止
此外,可以通过周期施加电磁辐射来防止初始感染发生,从而防止微生物感染。这在易于受到真菌感染的人群(诸如糖尿病患者和年长者)中以及需要经常监测的人(诸如医院中或者护理室中的人)中尤其有利。对健康很容易受到真菌感染的人(诸如糖尿病患者以及缺乏免疫能力的个人)是非常有利的。糖尿病患者中的指甲的真菌感染可能会发展并且相关联的并发症可能导致手指或者脚趾节肢。必须防止真菌感染的剂量可以比消除完全肿胀的感染要显著的小。所述剂量大约是标准剂量的一半范围,并必须足以使得可能存在的99%的有机体非活性。此剂量将周期施加(每天、每周、每月或者每季度,根据感染和施加的剂量的所估计的危险性)来帮助保持一个人免于感染。
前述对本发明的说明不是出于限制的目的。尽管本发明的一些实施例已经被说明,普通技术人员很容易理解在不背离本发明的原理和本发明的优点的情况下可以对本发明进行修改。
治疗感染的杀菌辐射的其它形式
本发明的说明书讨论了UVC光来防止和治疗感染。但是,任何具有抗微生物效果的电磁辐射也可以认为通过此方法来治疗感染。与可以使得有机体非活性的UVC不同的电磁辐射的示例是广谱、高强度、脉冲光。Kinetics of Microbial Inactivation for Alternative Food ProcessingTechnologies(食物安全和应用营养美国食物和药品管理中心,2000年6月2日)的第五页提到这样具有小到1.25J/cm2强度的光(波长170至2600nm)的单脉冲足以使得金黄色葡萄球菌非活性。这比需要的在254nm6.6J/cm2要小很多,并使得利用此种类型的辐射尤其吸引人。此种类型的光也更容易穿透(更长波长的光比短波长光更容易穿透)并比UVC更好忍受,所述UVC也是有利的。
PurePulse Technologies公司销售可以传输此种类型辐射的脉冲光,商标是PUREBRIGHTTM。此种光通常具有DC电源,其对电容器进行充电,用于控制电容器的放电的开关、允许电容器在既定程序的时间间隔放电的触发器电路、手工操作模式和一至四个安装在反射器中的闪光灯以指引从所述灯发射的光。此结构也被修改和细化来更适于对皮肤和指甲感染进行治疗。使用此种装置的方法与上述使用上述说明的低压水银灯相似。当前在较宽范围的有机体上进行了研究以确定各有机体非活性所需能量,以及施加这些能量所需要的最好的方式(即一个较大的脉冲或者几个较小的脉冲)。
在比UVC更低的总剂量上有机体非活性用多谱杀菌光的有效性显示出光谱的其它部分具有杀菌属性。精确的非活性机理还是未知的,但是,可能是几种机理组合在一起以使得细胞非活性或者不再繁殖。尽管作者不希望受到所使用的非活性的机理的限制,也进行了几次观察。除了对有机体的基因材料可能的损伤之外,多谱光可能损害有机体其它所必须的功能的成分。其也可以提供对细胞中的较小区域的立即加热,这将通过高温杀死有机体,但是损害了细胞壁的效能同时使得有机体非活性。
可能特定类型的辐射比其它的在使得有机体非活性和防止它们繁殖上更为有效。这些类型的辐射可能包含在脉冲光的范围中(170至2600nm),但是光谱的其它部分也可以杀菌。因此,所提出的防止和治疗皮肤和指甲感染的方法要求保护可以用于杀菌地使得有机体非活性或者防止其繁殖的任何形式的电磁辐射。

在优选实施例中,需要辐射皮肤和指甲数次以完全使得有机体非活性。有限实施例中的电磁辐射包括UVC范围中的辐射(100至280nm,更具体而言在240至280nm的范围中),其能够迅速使得有机体非活性。在优选实施例中,UVC源可以是低、中或者高压水银蒸汽灯或者激光。
在优选实施例中,在一个治疗中所接收到的辐射量将在5至10,000mw-sec/cm2的范围中。在优选实施例中,施加几个疗程的辐射是理想的。
第二实施例
本方法的另外的治疗皮肤和指甲感染的实施例涉及使用发出254nm的灯在总施加辐射剂量350至400mJ/cm2的时间周期上每次治疗中以37至100mJ/cm2对受感染区域进行辐射。
电磁辐射是用于防止皮肤和指甲感染的物质的特定成分。在优选实施例中,所述辐射可以应用到人和动物。优选实施例中的电磁辐射包括UVC范围(100至280nm更为优选地在240至280nm范围中)中的辐射,所述范围能够迅速使得有机体非活性。在优选实施例中,UVC源可以是低、中、或者高压水银蒸汽灯或者激光。
第三实施例
在可以使用的电磁辐射的其它优选实施例中,可以从诸如用于对食物和仪器进行消毒的多色脉冲源来形成。在其它的优选实施例中,在可以被使用能够使得有机体非活性的任何电磁辐射能够充分穿透,并在所考虑的剂量内对人和动物暴露是安全的。
其它优选实施例
对于特别难治愈的感染,将所述治疗方法与附属治疗相组合是有益的,所述附属治疗包括口服或者局部药物治疗。这种组合协作以在更短的时间周期、更完全的方式或者以更小的复发概率治愈。相应地,优选实施例是将所述治疗方法和包括口服和局部药物治疗的附属治疗进行组合,这被领域中普通技术人员认为是适当的。
其它的优选实施例包括将所有必须的辐射使用240至280nm之间的波长在大约50至1000mJ/sec2以一个剂量来传递。基本上比此更多的辐射在尤其难治愈的感染中是必须的。
其它优选实施例可以包括从5mJ/cm2至50mJ/cm2的剂量,如果波长的辐射是可以更高的剂量安全应用到话(如果是使用多谱光的话这尤其适用)。所述光可以是多波长并可以相干或者非相干的,并可以是脉冲的。
可选实施例
可选实施例中的电磁辐射可以是UVA辐射(315至400nm)。
可选实施例中的电磁辐射可以是UVB(280至315nm)辐射。
可选实施例中的电磁辐射可以是来自光谱的可见部分。
可选实施例中的电磁辐射可以是红外辐射。
可选实施例中的电磁辐射可以是从光谱的可见和不可见部分的组合的辐射。
可选实施例中的电磁辐射可以是包括氙脉冲源的脉冲源或者激光。
可选实施例中的电磁辐射可以是非相干或者相干的,例如激光。
可选实施例中的电磁辐射可以是单光谱或者是多光谱。
在可选实施例中,在一个治疗中所接收到的辐射量可以将被大于或者小于本实施例的5至10,000mw-sec/cm2。在所有的情况下,辐射的总量必须在疾病或者感染的治疗医生区被认为是安全的限制之内。
概述、分类和范围
相应地,读者可以看见本发明被用于防止和治疗很宽范围的皮肤和指甲感染。在对这些感染具有当前的治疗方法上的如下优点:
对于使用口服药物治疗,本发明消除了此类药物治疗所导致的不需要的和潜在危险的负面效果(诸如肝脏问题)。
对于使用口服药物治疗,本发明使用了非常小数目的治疗(一个至大约12)以消除感染同时药物治疗需要持续好几个月。
对于使用口服药物治疗,所提出的治疗具有比现有治疗600美圆至1200美圆显著的更为便宜。
对于使用口服药物治疗,所述感染可以在更短的时间中消除,因为治疗过程从大约1天到一个月变化,而药物治疗需要三到六个月。
对于通过使用色素以及使用高能量光来使用过量的热来消除感染的治疗,本发明消除了需要在治疗开始前在有机体中单独感应色素。这节省了时间、成本并消除了从感应色素所尤其的负面效果。
对于通过使用色素以及使用高能量光来使用过量的热来消除感染的治疗,本发明消除了需要大量的能量来用过热消除有机体,所述过热可以对病人导致损害和不舒适。本发明使用显著更少的能量,这样具有较低的复杂危险性。
对于其它现有感染的治疗方法,此治疗也可以被周期使用来防止产生感染。这尤其对那些容易得皮肤和指甲感染或者这样的感染造成显著威胁的人而言是理想的。
尽管在上述说明书中进行了说明,它们不是为了限制本发明而只是出于对本发明的优选实施例进行说明的目的。例如,其它辐射源可以被使用,如果它们具有必须使得有机体非活性的属性,并充分穿透、对人和动物使用安全等。

Claims (22)
1.一种治疗由微生物所导致的指甲感染的方法,包括步骤:以足以使得微生物非活性的强度将电磁辐射施加到受感染的指甲及其附近一段时间。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,所述指甲感染由从细菌、真菌、酵母菌、霉菌和病毒所构成的组中选择的微生物所导致的。
3.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,所述电磁辐射从315至400nm的UVA、280至315nm的UVB、100至280nm的UVC、可见光、红外光以及任意组合所构成的组中选择。
4.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,所述电磁辐射从由相干、非相干、连续、脉冲、单光谱、多光谱和其任意组合所构成的组中选择。
5.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,提供了用于防止所述电磁辐射影响眼睛和没有治疗的皮肤和指甲的任何区域的装置。
6.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,所述治疗可以用口服或者局部药物治疗来补充,以提高所述治疗的总的效果。
7.一种用于防止由微生物所导致的微生物指甲感染的方法,包括步骤:以足以使得微生物基本非活性并不能产生感染的强度将电磁辐射施加到受感染的指甲及其附近一段时间。
8.根据权利要求7所述的方法,其特征在于,所述可以被防止的微生物感染是从细菌、真菌、酵母菌、霉菌和病毒所构成的组中选择的微生物所导致的。
9.根据权利要求7所述的方法,其特征在于,所述电磁辐射从315至400nm的UVA、280至315nm的UVB、100至280nm的UVC、可见光、红外光以及任意组合所构成的组中选择。
10.根据权利要求7所述的方法,其特征在于,所述电磁辐射从由相干、非相干、连续、脉冲、单光谱、多光谱和其任意组合所构成的组中选择。
11.根据权利要求7所述的方法,其特征在于,提供了用于防止所述电磁辐射影响眼睛和没有治疗的皮肤和指甲的任何区域的装置。
12.一种用于治疗由微生物所导致的微生物皮肤感染的方法,包括步骤:以足以使得微生物非活性的强度将电磁辐射施加到受感染的皮肤及其附近一段时间。
13.根据权利要求12所述的方法,其特征在于,所述感染由从细菌、真菌、酵母菌、霉菌、病毒和尤其导致痤疮的微生物所构成的组中选择的微生物所导致的。
14.根据权利要求12所述的方法,其特征在于,所述电磁辐射从315至400nmUVA、280至315nm的UVB、100至280nm的UVC、可见光、红外光以及其任意组合所构成的组中选择,排除了专用在400-670nm范围中的光线疗法。
15.根据权利要求12所述的方法,其特征在于,所述电磁辐射从由相干、非相干、连续、脉冲、单光谱、多谱和其任意组合所构成的组中选择。
16.根据权利要求12所述的方法,其特征在于,提供了用于防止所述电磁辐射影响眼睛和没有治疗的皮肤和指甲的任何区域的装置。
17.根据权利要求12所述的方法,其特征在于,所述治疗可以用口服或者局部药物治疗所补充以提高所述治疗的总的效果。
18.一种用于防止由微生物所导致的微生物皮肤感染的方法,包括步骤:以足以使得微生物非活性的强度将电磁辐射施加到受感染的皮肤及其附近一段时间。
19.根据权利要求18所述的方法,其特征在于,所述感染由从细菌、真菌、酵母菌、霉菌、病毒和尤其导致痤疮的微生物所构成的组中选择的微生物所导致的。
20.根据权利要求18所述的方法,其特征在于,所述电磁辐射从315至400nm的UVA、280至315nm的UVB、100至280nm的UVC、可见光、红外光以及任意组合所构成的组中选择。
21.根据权利要求18所述的方法,其特征在于,所述电磁辐射从由相干、非相干、连续、脉冲、单光谱、多谱和任意组合所构成的组中选择。
22.根据权利要求18所述的方法,其特征在于,提供了用于防止所述电磁辐射影响眼睛和没有治疗的皮肤和指甲的任何区域的装置。
