背景技术
电子广告牌随时准备着通过能在任何所需的时间和频率下在电子广告牌上显示多个广告而改变广告牌产业。另外，可以利用任何类型的电子手段，包括无线传输，把广告传送到一个特定广告牌上。
发明内容
本发明允许用户访问广告牌提供者的网站，以对世界上任何地方的一个特定广告牌订购和上载所需的广告。
更具体地，广告主可以通过远程计算机向运营某特定广告牌的服务器上载广告数据。一旦内容得到认可，接着可把该广告数据发送到广告牌以在广告主选定的时间和期限内进行显示。
显示该广告信息的广告牌可以位于室内或室外。
尽管根据广告的显示对本发明进行了说明，但是可依据本发明在室内或室外广告牌上上载并显示任何信息，包括视频和静止图象。
上面概括地描述了本发明的特征和技术优点，以便可以更好地理解下面对本发明的详细说明。后面将对构成本发明的权利要求书主题的其它特征和优点进行描述。

具体实施方式
在下面的说明中，叙述大量的具体细节以对本发明提供充分的理解。但是，业内人士清楚，可以不在这些具体细节下实践本发明。在其它例子中，为了不因不必要的细节而难以理解本发明，以方块图的形式显示出熟知的电路。在大部分情况下，只要和计时考虑等有关的细节对于完整理解本发明不是必须的并且是在相关技术一般人士的专业范围内的，尽可能地省略这些细节。
现参照各附图，其中所描述的部件不必是按比例显示出的并且其中相同的或相似的部件在几张图中是用相同的参考数字标记的。
遍布美国甚至全球设置着室外广告牌。传统上，广告牌是纸/海报型的，其中广告牌上的广告必须利用一个或多个工人按周期人工地改变。因此，对于一个限定的时间周期，通常是一个月或者更长，在任何特定的广告牌上只能显示单个广告。
通过把在商店内有关产品和特别销售的信息显示在内墙或其它位置上，室内广告牌也获得立足点。同样，这种传统海报和室内广告牌的问题也是必须人工地改变，从而限制了它们的多用性和有效性。
诸如图2A和2B中显示出的电子广告牌，具有以类似于电视机或计算机显示器的方式显示静止或视频图象的能力。图2A描绘出一个依据本发明的一个实施例配置的具有电子显示屏200的室外广告牌201。图2B描绘出一个用于在商店内的墙202上显示广告信息或任何其它信息的室内电子广告牌203。在电子广告牌处设置处理器、存储器设备以及驱动器电子部件和软件。可以在该存储器内存储要显示的图象，并且然后利用软件以希望的方式显示。例如，可以以不同的预选频率以及时段显示多个不同的广告。通过本地的直接连接或者通过利用陆线(landline)、电缆、卫星信令、光纤电缆、无线传输等远程连接，可以把广告上载到广告牌系统。这样，一个中心地点可以把各种广告上载到位于美国各地(图1示出遍布美国的用X标志的电子广告牌的例子)或者甚至全球范围的不同广告牌上。替代地，如上所述，由图1上的示意位置标明的任何一个或多个广告牌可以是室内广告牌。
本发明的再一个优点是它允许希望购买一个特定电子广告牌上的广告空间的客户无须广告牌提供者的介入而完全地或几乎完全地做到这一点。
替代地，在不同地理区域中的商店位置使用室内或室外广告牌的公司可以远程地将任何希望的信息上载到任何选定的广告牌。例如，若某公司打算进行劳动节促销，它只需将描述该促销的广告上载到全球范围的选定商店处的选定广告牌上即可。
参照图3，一个希望在世界某处的一特定广告牌上显示其广告的客户会登录到一个网络上，例如因特网或因特网2，并访问广告牌提供者运营的网站。在步骤302，该客户可查看一个带有该广告牌提供者的电子广告牌位于何处的指示的美国、任何其它国家或者甚至是全世界的地图。利用缩放特性，该用户可以在一特定位置上放大，例如纽约市，以准确定位电子广告牌的位置，一直精确到城市的街区。而且，客户可以观看显示广告牌高度、宽度和广告牌朝向等的广告牌照片。替代地，甚至可以向客户显示室内广告牌的图象。
在步骤303，客户将选择一个广告牌。在步骤304，向客户提供所选广告牌中广告空间的可用开放时间及其持续时间的列表。客户可在步骤305选择一个可用的时间间隙和持续时间。一旦选择了可用的时间间隙和持续时间，在那些计费的事例中可向客户提供该广告空间的费用。这种广告费用可以取决于几个因素，包括显示该广告的日间时间。
在步骤306，客户将购买想要的时间额(若可实施)。可利用信用卡完成购买，或者该客户可能已经与该广告牌提供者建立了一个账户。备择地，可以在能向该广告牌上载任何软件之前要求输入一个口令。
在步骤307，客户着手准备自己供显示的广告(或者要显示的其它信息)。作为一个替代，客户可能已经有一个广告，客户可以把它上载给广告牌提供者。若客户需要准备一个广告，可以利用诸如PowerPontTM的预打包软件或者从广告牌提供者下载的能使客户创作广告的软件包来进行。一旦创作出广告，则客户可在步骤308把创作出的广告上载到中心地点供广告牌提供者批准。预料这种批准会是需要的，以便使广告牌提供者可以确保所显示的广告遵守该广告牌所在地的当地法律。尽管如此，但一些预先批准的客户仍然可以跳过步骤308并把他们的广告直接上载到广告牌系统。
在步骤309，一旦批准后，该广告牌提供者排定该广告以下载到选定的广告牌系统从而在期望的时刻和持续时段显示。进而，广告牌提供者可使用一个软件密钥以确保只对广告牌发送其自己的保密传输。
参照图4，电子广告牌，例如电子广告牌401，可位于世界上的任何地方。此外，每个广告牌可能具有其自己的关联网站，其中该网站将由服务器405支持。服务器405会维护广告牌401的网页，用户可以在因特网403上通过进入www.billboard401.com访问服务器405。在上面根据图3说明的过程中，可给广告主一个选项以便提供更多的有关要在广告牌401上显示的广告的信息。这种附加信息可包括有关广告产品的细节、至其它网站的链接、等等。若广告主上载这样的信息，ebillboard.net服务器402接着会把该信息下载到bilboard401.com。随后，当人们观看广告牌401上的该特定广告时，在广告牌401的某处会有一条可在bilboard401.com找到广告牌401上所示产品的其它有关信息的消息。该消息可由该电子广告牌显示，或者可仅仅印制在广告牌401的边框上。然后，当人们得到其计算机404并且访问billboard401.com时，他们可以观看广告主提供的其它附加信息。将对遍布全球的每个广告牌实施上述方案，其中每个这样的广告牌会具有它自己的网页。
以和在汽车接近机场时把机场信息广播给汽车收音机的方式，每个广告牌还可在特定无线频率下向路过者广播有关该广告牌或者其广告的信息。
参照图5，电子广告牌实施中的一个课题是在无线方式下向广告牌来回传输数据。虽然蜂窝通信、卫星、光纤和电缆技术可实现该功能，但另一种适用的传输媒体是射频(RF)波。通过利用例如可覆盖高达15哩的距离的语音移动信道，该系统能够为其它数据链路数字式地转发数据消息并且同时在节点(广告牌)处提供数据输入/输出服务。一条路径可包括多达数个转发站。结果是，该系统很容易从一个源位置覆盖120-150哩，其中该源位置通过电话、蜂窝调制解调器、卫星等和中央控制中心连接。这样的一个中央控制中心501可放置ebillboard.net服务器402。可以通过如上面所述的任何类型的电信手段完成到一个城市(例如洛杉矾)的主链路502的链接。类似地，也可通过任何类型的电信链路完成控制中心501和主链路506(例如纽约)之间的连接。接着每个主链路可具有对第一转发器节点503、507的无线连接，第一转发器节点通过无线连接和下一个转发器节点504、508连接，后者(504，508)接着可通过另一个无线连接和下个转发器节点505、509连接。这些节点中的每一个包含一个无线转发器，并且可以在特定的地点内位于不同的广告牌点上。结果是，通过无线RF通信一个主链路可以和一个区域内的所有广告牌通信。

Claims (25)

1.一种显示系统，包括：
一个具有电子显示器的电子广告牌；
一个和该电子显示器连接的并且能控制在主电子显示器上显示什么的信息处理系统；
一个和该信息处理系统连接的网络；以及
一个相对于该信息处理系统位于远程的并通过该网络与该信息处理系统连接的计算机，该计算机能接收用于通过网络向该信息处理系统发送信息的输入，以供在该电子广告牌的电子显示器上显示。
2.权利要求1所述的显示系统，其中把该电子广告牌安置为可供多个人观看。
3.权利要求2所述的显示系统，其中该电子广告牌是一个室外广告牌。
4.权利要求2所述的显示系统，其中该电子广告牌是一个室内广告牌。
5.权利要求1所述的显示系统，其中该网络是一个开放网络。
6.权利要求1所述的显示系统，其中该网络是因特网。
7.权利要求1的显示系统，还包括：
一个具有第二电子显示器的第二电子广告牌；
一个和该第二电子显示器连接的并且能控制在第二电子显示器上显示什么的第二信息处理系统，其中该网络也和第二信息处理系统连接，以使该计算机可以上载要在这些电子广告牌中的一个或二个上显示的信息。
8.一种用于在一个电子广告牌上显示信息的方法，包括步骤：
生成信息；
在网络上把该信息从一个第二信息处理系统上载到一个第一信息处理系统；以及
通过第二信息处理系统控制电子广告牌上信息的显示。
9.权利要求8所述的方法，其中该网络是一个开放网络。
10.权利要求8所述的方法，其中该网络是因特网。
11.权利要求10所述的方法，其中该电子广告牌安装成供室外显示信息。
12.权利要求10所述的方法，其中该电子广告牌安装成供室内显示信息。
13.权利要求8所述的方法，还包括安装该电子显示器以供公众观看所显示信息的步骤。
一种在电子广告牌上显示信息的方法，包括步骤：
在一个第一位置提供一个第一电子广告牌；
把一个第一信息处理系统和第一电子广告牌相连接，从而使第一信息处理系统可以控制要在第一电子广告牌上显示的信息；
在第二位置提供第二电子广告牌；
把一个第二信息处理系统和第二电子广告牌相连接，从而使第二信息处理系统可以控制要在第二电子广告牌上显示的信息；
通过因特网把第一和第二信息处理系统连接到一个第三信息处理系统；
通过第三信息处理系统选择第一和第二电子广告牌中的哪一个将显示信息；
通过因特网从第三信息处理系统把信息上载到控制选定电子广告牌的信息处理系统；以及
在选定的电子广告牌上显示信息。
14.权利要求14所述的方法，还包括步骤：
通过第三信息处理系统选择在选定的电子广告牌上显示信息的时段；以及
在选定的时段期间在选定的电子广告牌上显示信息。
15.权利要求14所述的方法，其中该选定的电子广告牌是从一个包括着第一和第二电子广告牌的可用电子广告牌列表中选择的。
16.权利要求16的方法，其中该表包括第一和第二位置的地图。
17.权利要求16的方法，还包括步骤：
对在选定的电子广告牌上显示信息的金额计费。
18.一种用于在电子广告牌上显示信息的系统，包括：
装置，用于在一个第一位置提供一个第一电子广告牌；

装置，用于通过因特网从第三信息处理系统把信息上载到控制选定电子广告牌的信息处理系统；以及
装置，用于在选定的电子广告牌上显示信息。

装置，用于通过第三信息处理系统选择在选定的电子广告牌上显示信息的时段；以及
装置，用于在选定的时段期间在选定的电子广告牌上显示信息。
20.权利要求19所述的系统，其中该选定的电子广告牌是从一个包括第一和第二电子广告牌的可用电子广告牌列表中选择的。
