Abstract

本发明一般涉及一种指纹扫描系统,更具体地说,涉及一种自动指纹成像装置中照明指纹的方法和装置。
发明背景
自动指纹扫描器通常用来获得一模拟或数字图像,以用于安全、存取、确认或记录保持。在大多数传统的扫描器中,二维(2D)的指纹图像由一具有排列成多行和多列的图像元素或象素矩阵的成像装置获得。2D光敏电子传感器,例如一电荷耦合器件(CCD),一般用来获得指纹图像。但是,传统光源对成本、尺寸和均匀性的要求可使其在一些受约束的实际环境例如键盘、膝上型计算机和例如鼠标或跟踪球之类的光标位置指示器(pointing device)中的应用变得昂贵或不现实。
成像装置中照明指纹的传统方法是使用一放在该装置的透明台板下面的光源。但是,这种方法通常要增加成象装置的费用和尺寸,并且不可能提供均匀的指纹照明或指纹图像背景。
因此,需要一种能在受约束的实际环境中用的小型和廉价的指纹照明手段。
发明概述
本发明提供一种照明指纹用的方法和装置。把手指放在其一个表面上有微棱镜阵列的透明台板上。光源透过该台板的水平平面射出光来照明手指。透过台板射出的光基本上平行于微棱镜阵列的轴线,并且大部分容纳在该台板主体内。与台板接触的皮肤由该光照明,并且该光通过一成像装置成像。

在一优选实施例的以下描述中,标号是附图中的一部分,并通过图示一本发明可行的特定的实施例进行说明。应当理解,其它实施例可以利用,而且结构上的改变也可作出,并未超出本发明的范围。
在以下的描述中,出于解释的目的,进行了大量专门的详细描述,以对本发明提供全面理解。但是,对本领域技术人员来讲,如果没有这些专门的详细描述本发明也是可以实施的。
和现有的系统相比本发明具有几个优点。与光源位于台板下面的传统的成象装置相比,具有被定位来透过一基本上平行于微棱镜阵列轴线的透明台板的水平平面射出光的光源的成象装置,一般比较小且比较便宜,从而使得本发明一般比较小且可以较便宜地制造。通过发出透过基本上平行于微棱镜阵列轴线的台板的光而得到全内反射的效果,从而导致指纹图像质量的提高。本发明图像的背景是暗的且指纹边缘被照明。这样就产生了较高信噪比的图像,因此对光源光输出的均匀性要求不用太严格。

图2和图3表示本发明的立式实施例301的透视图和水平图。手指303位于透明台板302上。光源304经台板302射出光以照明手指303。任选的反射面305可被定位于靠近台板302的位置。任选的聚焦装置306可被用来将手指的图像聚焦在成象装置307上。聚焦装置306优选为一透镜,但是,本领领域的普通技术人员将会意识到,本发明可应用其它不丧失共性的聚焦装置,例如SELFOC(自聚焦)透镜或曲面反射镜。成象装置307可以是电荷耦合器件(CCD),但是,本领领域的普通技术人员将会意识到,本发明可应用其它不丧失共性的成象装置,例如复合金属氧化物半导体(CMOS)传感器或接触图像传感器(CIS)。
在依据优选实施例在特定的系统环境下描述本发明的同时,本领域的普通技术人员将会意识到,通过修改,本发明在所附权利要求书的精神和范围内的其它和不同的硬件和软件环境下也是可行的。
Claims (17)
1.一种照明指纹用的装置,包括:
一带有微棱镜阵列的透明台板;和
一被定位来透过一基本上平行于微棱镜阵列轴线的台板的水平平面射出光的光源。
2.如权利要求1的装置,其中所述台板包括一具有与光源相对的反射表面的台板。
3.如权利要求1的装置,还包括一邻近于与所述光源相对的台板定位的反射表面。
4.如权利要求1的装置,其中所述台板包括一塑料台板。
5.如权利要求1的装置,其中所述台板包括一玻璃台板。
6.如权利要求1的装置,其中所述光源包括一发光二极管(LED)。
7.如权利要求1的装置,还包括一被定位来获取指纹图像的成象装置。
8.如权利要求7的装置,还包括一被定位来将所述指纹图像聚焦到所述成象装置上的聚焦装置。
9.如权利要求8的装置,其中所述的聚焦装置包括一透镜。
10.如权利要求8的装置,其中所述的聚焦装置包括一曲面反射镜。
11.如权利要求8的装置,其中所述聚焦装置包括一SELFOC(自聚焦)透镜。
12.如权利要求7的装置,其中所述成象装置包括一电荷耦合器件(CCD)。
13.如权利要求7的装置,其中所述成象装置包括一复合金属氧化物半导体(CMOS)传感器。
14.如权利要求7的装置,其中所述成象装置包括一接触图像传感器(CIS)。
15.一种指纹照明用的方法,包括如下步骤:
将手指放在带有微棱镜阵列的透明台板上;并且
用被定位来透过基本上平行于微棱镜轴线的台板的水平平面射出光的光源来照明指纹。
16.如权利要求15的方法,还包括通过台板利用成象装置获取指纹图像的步骤。
17.如权利要求16的方法,还包括将指纹图像聚焦到成象装置上的步骤。
