Abstract

Description
本发明涉及制造多晶金刚石或立方氮化硼切削刀片的高压/高温(HP/HT)工艺。具体地说,本发明涉及在HP/HT工艺上的某种修改,从而使切削刀片的产品经济性和夹紧的可能性得以改进。
金刚石是加工例如铜、镁和铝等各种有色合金的最好的刀具材料,而立方氮化硼(cBN)非常适合于高速加工硬化钢、冷硬铸铁和铸铁。
进行这些加工的刀片被称为PCD(多晶金刚石压合体)或PcBN(多晶立方氮化硼压合体),这种刀片包括一个硬质合金体,其具有在上述高温和高压下施加的金刚石或cBN层,在该高温和高压下金刚石或cBN为一稳定的相或者刀片在至少一个角部或沿一个通过钎焊被固定的边缘上具有金刚石或cBN体。
加工这种刀片的方法在例如美国专利3,745,623、3,743,489、4,525,179、5,598,621、和5,676,496中进行了说明。
很多用于机加工的刀具在其中心都具有孔以保证刀具尽可能地夹紧到刀架上。对于钎焊的刀片,这可以通过将PCD/cBN尖端钎焊到已经具有一孔的一个主体上来实现。否则,该孔还要在以后加工出来,这样做成本很高,因为这种加工通常涉及放电加工(EDM)。
美国专利申请08/601,631公开了一种制造带有用于固定在刀架上的夹紧孔的切削刀片的方法,其中在一高温和高压的容器中,一超硬的磨料被烧结并同时被粘结到带有一孔的烧结硬质合金体上。在烧结过程中,该孔被一个塞子塞住,在烧结后塞子被取出。塞子的材料可包括耐火材料、硬质合金、或由一耐火材料套筒围绕的硬质合金。耐火材料最好为铌。这种方法的缺点是耐火材料不能承受高压和高温从而在硬质合金刀片中产生裂纹。
根据本发明,孔的制造是通过提供一个具有一孔的硬质合金坯料来实现的。在HP/HT处理的过程中,该孔装有一个由硬质合金组成的塞子。塞子和/或硬质合金具有一薄层耐火氧化物涂料。在HP/HT处理后,塞子很容易通过机械压力取出,而坯料被磨制成最终的形状和尺寸。
图1是根据本发明改进的HP/HT单元的截面图。
在这种类型的装置中同时施加高压和高温的技术是现有技术所公知的。现在参看图1,HP/HT单元10装配在受HP/HT条件控制的装置中的空间内。该组件包括壳体11,该壳体包括圆柱形套筒12和屏蔽金属盖13,屏蔽金属从包括Zr、Ti、Ta、Nb、和Mo的一组元素中选择。
烧结和涂有硬质合金的刀片坯料16位于杯12中,该坯料具有一孔。孔可以是圆柱形但也可以是其他的形状,例如完全的或部分的锥形或者在一侧或两侧有倒角。该孔中装有一个塞子25,其具有与孔相同的几何形状。为了避免在塞子和硬质合金坯料之间出现不希望的烧结,塞子25上涂有一层薄的Al2O3层20,但也可在硬质合金坯料上涂一层薄的Al2O3层以避免在硬质合金和单元的耐火材料之间发生不希望的表面反应。该薄Al2O3层为1-10μm,优选为2-8μm,最好约5μm厚。优选地,塞子和硬质合金坯料均被涂覆。优选地,塞子包括硬质合金,其成分基本上与硬质合金坯料16的成分相同。
包含金刚石或cBN粉末的一混合物被填充到单元内例如形成一顶层14或填充到如美国专利5,598,621和5,676,426中公开的凹槽内,或采用其他需要的方式。单元被封闭并被置于HP/HT装置中。压力和温度被增加到使金刚石或cBN稳定足够长时间的程度,从而使烧结发生。然后,该填料被允许在压力下短时间冷却,并在减压后重新获得压合体。
塞子可通过施加机械压力取出。最后,压合体被磨成所需要的最终的尺寸和形状,例如圆形、三角形或方形。
本发明已经参照带孔刀片的制造进行了描述。很显然,该方法也可被应用到其他情况,即在HP/HT处理过程中一起烧结两个或多个硬质合金部分,或者在高压单元组件中的部件之间的其他表面反应被避免。作为Al2O3的替代,也可使用象Y2O3、ZrO2的耐火氧化物。
实例
制备一个硬质合金圆柱形盘,其成分为WC+重量百分比为16%的Co,直径约22mm,厚度6mm,其具有直径为4mm的圆锥形中心孔,沿着盘周围表面等距地分布着四个凹槽。凹槽具有基本上半圆形的横截面,其直径约4mm。硬质合金盘被置于一铌制杯中,一塞子被挤入盘的孔中,该硬质合金塞子直径为5mm,成分为WC+重量百分比为16%的Co,其涂有一个5μm的Al2O3层。凹槽被一个cBN粉末混合物填充,其成分相当于兆金刚石工业等级(Megadiamond Commercial Grade)MN50,然后容器被密封并根据在美国专利5,115,697中描述的工艺进行高温和高压处理。在冷却后,获得了压合体。通过施加轻微的机械压力,塞子被取出。盘然后被磨成刀片,型号WNGA 080408,其中心孔可被紧固地夹紧在刀架上。
Claims (5)
1.一种在高温和高压的条件下(HP/HT处理)的一容器内将超硬磨料烧结并同时粘结到一硬质合金体上的方法,从而所述硬质合金体与至少一个其他的硬质合金体接触,该其他硬质合金体在烧结后被移去,其特征在于,在高压/高温处理过程中,彼此接触的至少一个表面上涂有厚度为1-10μm耐火氧化物层。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,要装备超硬磨料的所述硬质合金是一个切削刀片坯料,其带有用于夹紧到刀架上的孔,所述至少一个其他的硬质合金体是在烧结过程中填充所述孔的一个硬质合金塞子,在烧结之后塞子被移去且所述坯料被磨制成具有最终形状和尺寸的刀片。
3.根据权利要求2所述的方法,其特征在于,刀片坯料和塞子均被涂覆。
4.根据权利要求2所述的方法,其特征在于,所述塞子的硬质合金的成分基本上与切削刀片坯料的硬质合金成分相同。
5.根据前述任一权利要求所述的方法,其特征在于,所述耐火氧化物为Al2O3、Y2O3、或ZrO2。
