颜料在水介质中用于分散体系染色的用途
本发明涉及一些染料作为在水介质中的分散染料的用途。
单词″颜料″源自拉丁语(pigmentum),起初表示在有色物质意义上的颜料,但是随后扩展到表示着色的装饰(例如,化妆)。在中世纪后期,该词还被用于植物和蔬菜的萃取物,特别是那些用于染色的萃取物。在生物学术语学中单词染料仍然表示这种含义;它的意思是作为微细颗粒存在于细胞或细胞膜内部、作为组织中的沉积物或悬浮在体液中的植物或动物有机体的染料。
与该单词色素有关的现代含义产生于本世纪。根据通用标准(DIN55943和DIN55945)颜料一词意思是指由小颗粒组成的物质,所述的小颗粒实际上在使用的介质中不溶,并且基于其色彩、保护性或磁性加以应用。颜料和染料均被归入一般性术语“着色材料”中,其表示所有由于其色彩特性而使用的材料。将颜料与可溶有机染料区别的特征其在溶剂和粘合剂中的低溶解度。颜料的特征可表现为其化学成分和其光学或工艺性能。
在染料索引(C.I.)中,颜料通常命名为“C.I.颜料XY xy″。一些化合物由于它们的在聚合物应用中的色移倾向可命名为“C.I.溶剂XY xy″,虽然在水中或在有机溶剂中这些化合物可以完全符合根据DIN55943和DIN55945的颜料不溶性标准。
颜料可分为两类:
(i)无机颜料;
(ii)有机颜料。
使用颜料的最重要方面是油漆、清漆、塑料、美术颜料、用于纸张和纺织品的印刷油墨、皮革染色、建筑材料(水泥、抹灰、混凝土砖和瓷砖--主要基于氧化铁和氧化铬色料)、皮革仿造、地毯、橡胶、纸、化妆品、陶瓷釉料和珐琅。
油漆工业几乎只使用优质色料。最佳的均匀粒度很重要,因为其影响了光彩、遮盖力、着色力和发亮能力。涂膜不能过厚,因此需要有优良着色力和遮盖力并结合了最优分散性的颜料。
白颜料用于白色着色和遮盖,而且用于减少(减轻)彩色和黑色颜料。它们必须具有最小的固有色调。
当选择用于特别用途的颜料时,通常必须考虑好几个方面。在决定使用效能和由此得到的经济性方面,色彩特性(例如色彩、着色力或减轻能力、遮盖力)很重要。下列性质同样重要:
1)一般的化学及物理特性:化学成分、湿气和含盐量、水溶性和酸溶性物质的含量、颗粒尺寸、密度和硬度;
2)稳定性:对光、气候、热和化学物质的耐受力,防蚀性、光彩的保持力;
3)在粘合剂中的性能:与粘合剂相互作用的性能、分散性、在一些粘合剂中的特定性能、相容性和固化效果。
一个重要的应用范围是聚合物纤维、特别是聚酯纤维的大量染色。聚合物熔体被直接染色然后纺纱的方法称为“纺前染色”。颜料染色在高于260℃的温度“溶解”在聚合物熔体中,例如聚酯。用于熔体纺丝方法,温度通常较高,例如对于聚酯是约285℃。只少数颜料种类可以耐受这样的高温同时染料分子不发生显著的降解。
分散染料是呈分散胶质形式的低水溶性着色剂,适于疏水性纤维制品的染色和印刷。
已经开发了用分散染料为聚酯纤维染色的模式。当该染料经水介质施用时,染料从分子分散的水溶液被吸收到纤维制品表面上,然后扩散到纤维制品内部。下列参数决定了上色率,并且在某种程度上决定了均匀性(leveling properties):
(1)在从分散的晶态染料转变为分子分散相期间的溶解速率,和
(2)在纤维制品表面以及特别是在纤维制品内部的扩散速率。
两个过程的速率均随温度变化。
染料分子几何学和极性的差异可导致在这些加工或染色吸收特性方面的巨大变化,对所有染料的吸收性可产生显著的影响,不管是使用单成分染色还是拼色染色工艺。例如,当不均匀的粒度分布引起分散稳定性不足并由此导致在在基材表面晶体生长和沉淀时会发生染色不匀。
因为在染色过程中温度通常低于120℃,染料分子的温度稳定性不是非常重要。有时候,染色过程中的温度可高达130-140℃。工业上使用的分散染料是以许多发色团体系为基础的。所有产品的大约60%是偶氮染料,约25%是蒽醌染料,其余的是quinophthalone、methine、naphthalimide、萘醌和硝基染料。根据要染色的产品,通常用多种取代基改进染色分子以使它们的特性最佳化。
令人惊讶地,人们发现了一些用于聚合物纤维、特别是聚酯纤维(例如注册商标为Polysynthren和Sandoplast的CARIANT的颜料)大规模染色的颜料可用于在水介质中纺织品纤维的染色。
有限的、化学结构悬殊的颜料可用作聚酯大规模染色的分散染料。共同的要素是它们具有相当对称、紧凑和刚性的结构以及相当有限的侧基,使其在纺纱染色过程的高温中稳定性最佳。
根据本发明可使用的Polysynthren颜料优选的例子作为C.I.溶剂棕53列于Color Index中。
本发明涉及根据式(I)的颜料或颜料混合物的用途:
其中R1-R8彼此独立地表示H、卤素、-NO2、-CN、-OH、-COOH、-CH3、-NH2或NHCH3,其特征在于染色过程在含水介质中进行。
优选使用的颜料或颜料混合物中R1-R8彼此独立地表示H、卤素、-COOH或-CN。
更优选使用的颜料或颜料混合物中R1-R8彼此独立地表示H、-Cl、-COOH或-CN。
特别优选使用的颜料中所有的R1-R8为H。
其中所有R1-R8是H的颜料是已知的C.I.溶剂棕53(polysynthren r8 Braun R,CARIANT的商标)。
式(I)的颜料可用于染色和印刷半合成的和优选合成的疏水性纤维制品材料,特别是纺织品。由含这类半合成疏水性纤维材料的混纺织物组成的纺织品也可以通过本发明的染料染色或印刷。
适合的半合成纺织品主要是纤维素-21/2醋酸酯、三乙酸纤维素聚酰胺和高分子量聚酯及其与纤维素的混合物。
合成的疏水性纺织品主要由线性芳族聚酯组成,例如那些由对苯二甲酸和二醇、特别是乙二醇组成的芳族聚酯,或对苯二甲酸和1,4-二(羟甲基)环己烷的缩合物,由聚碳酸酯组成,例如能那些由α,α-二甲基-4,4′-二羟基二苯基甲烷和光气组成的;和由基于聚氯乙烯和聚酰胺的纤维组成。
疏水性合成材料可以是薄片状或细丝状结构,并可加工成例如纱或织物,编织或编结成织物。式(I)的新染料还适合染色微纤维形式的疏水性合成材料。
在使用前将式(I)色料转化成染料配制品是适宜的。这可通过将染料研磨到0.1至10微米平均粒度来实现。研磨可以在分散剂存在下进行。一般,将干燥的色料与分散剂一起研磨,然后在真空下干燥或通过喷雾干燥。印染浆和染液可通过在这样得到的配制品中加入水制备。
根据式(I)的颜料用已知的染色或印花方法用于纺织品,例如使用在法国专利申请No.1,445,371中所述的那些。
一般在通常的阴离子或非离子分散剂存在下,并在有或没有通常的膨润剂(载体)的存在下,在65℃至140℃的温度范围内,通过尽染方法在水分散体中将聚酯纤维材料染色。
纤维素-21/2-醋酸酯优选在65℃至85℃的温度染色,三乙酸纤维素优选在最高125C的温度染色。
根据式(I)的色料适于通过热溶法染色,其用于尽染和连续方法,同时也用于现代成像方法的印刷,例如热转印或喷墨印刷。
染色在含水液剂中通过尽染方法进行的,液比可以从宽范围内选择,例如从1∶4至1∶100,优选从1∶6到1∶50。染色时间为20至90分钟,优选30至80分钟。
染液可以另外含有其它添加剂,例如染色助剂、分散剂、润湿剂和消泡剂。
液剂还可含有无机酸,如硫酸或磷酸;或适宜地同时含有有机酸,例如甲酸或乙酸;和/或盐类,如乙酸铵或硫酸钠。酸主要用于调节染液pH,其优选在4-5范围内。
颜料通常以微分散体的形式存在于染液中。
用于制备这种分散体的适合的分散剂是例如阴离子分散剂,如芳族磺酸/甲醛缩合物、4-甲基-2-甲氧基苯酚磺酸盐油/甲醛缩合物、木素磺酸盐或丙烯酸衍生物的共聚物,优选芳族磺酸/甲醛缩合物或磺化的木质素;或基于聚烯化氧的非离子分散剂,例如通过环氧乙烷或氧化丙烯的加聚反应可得到的非离子分散剂。其它适合的分散剂列于US4,895,981或US5,910,624。
这样得到的染色或印刷具有优良的综合坚牢度;特别值得注意的是耐热色移性、耐光性、热定色性和耐褶性,以及极好的耐湿性。
本发明还涉及半合成的或优选合成的疏水性纤维材料,其通过上述的应用染色或印刷。
在下文的实施例中份数和百分数基于重量。温度以摄氏温度表示。
应用实施例
17.5份下式(Ia)颜料

和32.5份基于木质素磺酸盐的商业分散剂混合并研磨成粉末。1.2份该染料配制品加入到70℃的2000份软化水中,所述的水中含有40份硫酸铵;染色浴的pH值用85%甲酸调整到5。100份清洗过的聚酯纤维织物置于染色浴中,关闭容器,用20分钟加热到130℃,染色在该温度再进行60分钟。冷却后,将聚酯纤维织物从染色浴中取出,漂洗,皂洗,然后按惯例用联二亚硫酸钠还原净化。在热定色(180℃、30分)后,得到棕色染色,其具有很好的全面的耐久的,特别是耐光度和耐升华作用,尤其具有极好的耐湿性。
