Abstract

Description

用于数据盒式磁带的机器和人可读标牌
本申请是分案申请，原申请的申请日为1995年1月13日，申请号为95101195.2，发明名称为“用于数据盒式磁带的机器和人可读标牌”。
本发明涉及标记存储物品，并特别地涉及一种标牌，其包含应用到一个物品上的机器可读和人可读两种信息。
在一个自动信息存储和检索图书馆系统里，每一种在其上记录数据的媒体(如磁带或光盘)为了保护和便于携带一般都安装在刚性盒体内。因为该盒带要被人们(把盒带放入图书馆和从图书馆取出)、机械访问器(在一个存储器单元和一个数据驱动器之间内部地传送该盒带)和数据驱动器(在该媒体上装入和接口信息)所处理，附属于该盒带的信息必须能由人类操作员、机械访问器和数据驱动器得到。盒带的标识信息可包括，例如，盒带的卷序列号。媒体信息可包括，例如，媒体长度或尺寸，媒体容量以及该盒带是否是一个用以清洗数据驱动器的清洗器盒带。
通常，人可读的信息和机器可读的信息在盒带上是分别处理的。典型地，人可读的信息是用适当的语言印在粘着的标牌上的，而机器可读的信息则采取几种方式中的一种。标识信息(诸如盒带的卷序列号)可用对视觉系统是可读的数字形式编码在一个标牌上，或者印成条形码扫描器可读的条形码格式。但是，这两种方式都需要带有相对灵敏的光学和机械对齐的光学译码系统，并且一般不包括媒体信息。通过在数据驱动器里使用机械手指的媒体信息可被提供，当机械手指检测预先定位在盒带外壳上的孔时它们触发或释放相关的开关。在一特定位置上有或没有一个孔代表着某些媒体信息。因为各种媒体信息码组合是由当盒带外壳被加工时所形成的不同的式样所体现的，各种组合需要不同的加工模具而且各种盒带外壳外形需要分类库存。此外，因为人可读的信息是在外壳被加工好并把媒体安入之后再以标牌或类似物贴到外壳上的，这存在着增大的风险，即人可读的信息和机器可读的信息可能是不一致的。
鉴于上述情况，本发明的一个目的是提供一种数据盒式磁带或类似物品，它具有一种单一的加工外形和具有一组包含机器可读和人可读两种信息的可修改特性。
在本发明的第一实施例中该目的和其它目的是通过提供一种具有外壳的盒式磁带来实现的，这种外壳在其外表面上带有一个指示器区域并且带有一个至少能覆盖该指示器区域的标牌。该指示器区域包括Z个在表面上成形的凹槽(Z至少为1)；而该标牌包括人可读的信息和Z个指示器位置，每个位置覆盖指示器区域上所述凹槽中的一个。该指示器位置具有打开和关闭状态，该打开状态通过一个穿过该标牌的孔来表示，以展示一个对应的凹槽。这样，指示器位置的状态代表2z位编码机器可读信息。
另一个实施例提供一种具有另一种外壳的盒式磁带，这种外壳在其外表面具有一条缝，并具有和该缝相配合的一种可移动插入物。该插入物包括一个突起的表面部分，该表面部分具有人可读的信息和Z个指示器位置。同样，每个指示器位置具有打开和关闭状态，其关闭状态是由突起的垫(pad)所指示的。这样，指示器位置的状态包括2z位编码机器可读信息。
每个实施例都可以使用带有机械手指的传感器装置，当在指示器位置上检测出凹槽时机械手指触发或释放相应的开关。
通过对在附图中所示的本发明的最佳实施例的下述较具体的描述，可以了解本发明的上述和其它的特性和优点。
图1表示带有凹槽和一个标牌的本发明的数据盒式磁带的第一实施例；
图2表示一个具有机械检测手指的磁带驱动机部件；
图3表示该数据盒式磁带装在驱动机部件上并和机械检测手指啮合；
图4A和4B表示带有模压缝的本发明的数据盒式磁带的第二实施例的二个视图；
图5A和图5B表示和图4A和图4B所示的盒式磁带带上的缝相配合的插入物的两个视图；以及
图6表示一个完整的数据盒式磁带，它带有配合到模制缝中；图5A和图5B所示的插入物。
图1表示本发明的数据盒式磁带10的第一实施例。虽然这里所表示的和所描述的盒式磁带10是一个双卷筒盒式磁带，本发明同样可应用于其它含有记录媒体的数据存储盒带，包括单卷筒盒式磁带和光盘盒带，以及其它类型的对象。盒式磁带10包括一个刚性外壳或罩12以及卷筒14，在外壳12的里面磁带被绕在卷筒14上。当盒式磁带10被装入磁带驱动机里时，通过一个铰链门16该磁带可被访问。一个双位写保护开关17选择性地允许或禁止数据记录到磁带上。
Z个凹槽18(Z至少为1)被模压，钻入或用其它方式成形在外壳12的一个表面的一个指示器区域20。在图1所示的盒式磁带10里，4个凹槽成形在沿外壳12的一条边的一条线上，以适应驱动机传感器的一种布局。同样，可以采用外壳的其它区域和采用其它数量的凹槽以适应其它的传感器布局。凹槽18向外壳12内部延伸足够远以允许传感器区分有或没有一个凹槽18。凹槽18也可以是穿过外壳12的表面的孔，尽管这种通路会不希望地允许杂质渗入到盒式磁带10的内部。
图2表示一个示范性装入器30。装入器30包括驱动马达组，它们啮合盒式磁盘10的卷筒14，和包括一组Z个弹簧承载的传感器机械指34和相应的开关。一个附加的传感器机械指36和开关用以检测写保护开关17的状态。读/写磁头未显示，利用读/写磁头数据被记录到外壳12内的磁带上和从磁带上读出。
盒式磁带10还包括一个标牌22，其至少覆盖住外壳12的指示器区域20。如果足够大，标牌22包括开口24和开口或切口25，穿过开口24，卷筒14与磁带驱动机里的驱动马达啮合，而开口或切口25用以暴露写保护开关17。标牌22具有人可读的信息26，人可读的信息26是写在、印在、刻在或用其它方式标志在外表面上的，以允许人类操作员很容易地确定象媒体类型，长度和容量之类的信息。另外，标牌22的覆盖指示器区域20部分包括Z个指示器位置28，Z个指示器位置直接覆盖外壳12上的Z个凹槽18。每个指示器位置28具有二种可能的状态，打开状态和关闭状态，以按需要允许分别暴露或遮盖在指示器区域里的下凹槽。每个标牌22最初生产时不带有任何人可读的信息并且所有指示器位置处于关闭状态。人可读的信息是被标记在标牌22上的，而指示器位置被冲压以在合适的位置上成孔。然后标牌22被粘在盒式磁带10上。图1所示的标牌22具有四个指示器位置28，对应于外壳12上的四个凹槽18；其中两个指示器位置28处于打开状态(在图中用实线表示)而两个指示器位置处于关闭状态(用虚线表示)。
请参见图3，当盒式磁带10装到装入器30里时，传感器机械指34对准标牌22上的指示器位置28并和指示器位置28相接合。处于打开状态的一个指示器位置允许对应的传感器机械指延伸到下伏的凹槽中。
相反，处于关闭状态的指示器位置阻止对应的传感器机械指延伸到下伏的凹槽内。这样，开关接触或者被接通或者被断开，相连电路读出并译码这些状态，并把信息传送给驱动控制机。
Z个凹槽18和对应的Z个指示器位置28可以表示Z个分离信息，每个分离信息具有两个状态中的一个状态(例如，盒式磁带10是一个清洗器盒带或是一个标准的可记录盒式磁带)。
交替地，Z个凹槽18和对应的Z个指示器位置28可以表示为2z位的二进制编码信息，以允许代表更大量的编码信息。
现参见图4A、4B、5A、和5B，本发明的数据盒式磁带40的另一个实施例被表示出。该盒式磁带40具有一个封闭其媒体的外壳42(同样，双卷筒盒式磁带被显示和被描述，但是该实施例同样可应用于其它类型的盒式磁带和其它的物品)。该外壳包括一条缝44，该缝用模压、机加工或其它方式成形在外壳42的一个表面上。如图所示，该缝44大体上按一条边横穿外壳42的宽度；但是，本发明并不限制于这种特定的布局。一个可移动的细长插入物50和该缝44相配合。该插入物50包括一个基面52，一个含有人可读信息的突起表面部分44，和Z个指示器位置56，同样Z个指示器位置对应于装入器30上Z个传感器机械指34和开关的数量和位置。每个指示器位置具有两种状态：一种状态是用一个突起的垫所表示的，而另一种状态是用没有突起的垫表示的。当该插入物50处在缝44里时(图6)，人可读的和机器可读的两种信息可用类似于第一实施例的盒式磁带上所含信息的方式被读出。而且，和第一实施例的情况一样，只需要一种单一的盒带外壳布局。
当本发明参照其最佳实施例组被详细地表示和描述时，技术熟练的人应该了解，在不违背本发明的精神和范围的前提下，可以进行形式上和细节上的各种变化。例如，如果驱动机30的检测机械指34触发/释放具有多于两个状态(如四个)的开关时，插入物50除无垫状态外还可具有多于一种高度(如三种)的突起垫。这样，大得多的信息量可被编码。

Claims (7)

1．一种应用到物品的信息标牌，其特征在于，包括：
在该标牌表面的人可读的信息；以及
Z个指示器位置，每个指示器位置具有打开状态和关闭状态，一个选定指示器位置的打开状态通过一个穿过所述标牌的孔表示，允许传感器通过该孔至少部分延伸到物品的底部凹槽，关闭状态阻止传感器伸进槽内。
2．权利要求1的信息标牌，其特征在于，所述人可读的信息包括在所述标牌的所述表面上的印制信息。
3．权利要求1的信息标牌，其特征在于，所述Z个指示器位置的打开和关闭状态构成2z位编码机器可读信息。
4．权利要求1的信息标牌，其特征在于，所述Z个指示器位置的打开和关闭状态构成Z条机器可读信息。
5．一种插入到物品表面缝隙内的信息标牌，包括其尺寸适于该缝隙的一个可移动插入物，其特征在于，所述插入物包括：
其上具有人可读信息的所述可移动插入物的突起表面部分；以及
位于所述可移动插入物上的Z个指示器位置，每个指示器位置都具有一个关闭状态和一个打开状态，一个突起垫所表示的一个选定指示器位置的关闭状态阻止传感器延伸到物品的表面，没有突起垫所示的选定指示器位置的打开状态允许传感器延伸到物品的表面。
6．权利要求5的信息标牌，其特征在于，所述Z个指示器位置的打开和关闭状态构成2z位编码机器可读信息。
7．权利要求5信息标牌，其特征在于，所述Z个指示器位置的打开和关闭状态构成Z条机器可读信息。
