Abstract

Description
本发明所属技术领域
本发明涉及无线通信系统,尤其涉及蜂窝通信系统。
在蜂窝通信系统中,地理范围或地区一般被划分成标准呈六角形的网元。各网元被分配一个或多个射频信道。在频分多路存取(FDMA)系统中,邻接或靠近的网元使用分隔开的频率。(这里说明的技术主要是针对频分多路存取系统中的应用,但同样也应用于时分多路存取(TDMA)或代码分割多路存取(CDMA)系统中)。在全部可用频率分配完后,就需要开始重复利用这些频率。例如,如果有7个频可兹利用,就需要在第八网元再次开始利用第一频率。
图1为表明频率重复利用问题的先有技术网元结构的方框图。7个网元(为易于理解每个网元为6角形)的群形成以粗线指出的网元组1。7个频率被用于每一网元组1中,而然后在邻接的网元组1中重复应用。各网元组1中,频率分布模式通常均相同。因而,图示的中央网元组1a的中央网元2a采用与邻接网元组1b的中央网元2b相同的频率。
因为频率被重复利用,二个以同样频率运行的网元,尽管在地理上是分开的,但仍可能互相干扰。这叫做“同频道干扰”。同频道干扰的作用随地形和距离变化。在通路损失情况有利用所希望的信号的情况中,同频道干扰的强度可能不足以对接收机能产生重大影响。在另外的情况下,通路损失情况有可能使得所希望的载波功率与干扰间之差(称为“C/I”比)不适应良好的接收机性能。在许多系统中,当C/I比约低于16-17db(一般表明严重的频道干扰)时,就会发生这种情况,虽然能接收的C/I比随信号和信道的性质而言可能较大或较小。总体效果是在一网元内产生一个不可能良好地覆盖的区域。在总共为7个频率的情况下,这些恶劣地点可能占有正常网元的40%或更多。
为减轻频分多路存取系统中同频道干扰的惯常方法是分派更多数量的供服务用的频率和设计稀疏的重复利用模式。常见的分配是重复利用因子为21(每网元3个120°扇区的7个网元)。但这种方法在只有很少数量的频率,例如7个能加利用的频率时无法被采用。
因而,如可以对一蜂窝通信系统采用很少数量的频率,例如7个,并同时大大降低严重的同信道干扰则将是受欢迎的。本发明即对此问题提供解决办法。
本发明概要
本发明为在蜂窝通信系统中用于频率重复利用的分时方法和设备。通过使蜂窝通信系统中的网元发送/接收基地台与一公共时基同步,然后经由被分配的时隙来共用可用的频率,以上来增强频率的重复利用。亦即,使采用可能相互干扰的相同频率的网元仅在被选定的时间间隔期间被激活,而同时邻近的同频网元则被停用。然后此被停用的网元在先前被激活的邻近同频网元被停用时依次被激活。
频率时隙可以为相等长度,或者可对具有较高使用率的网元分配以较长的时隙,这可按多种方法中任一个来确定。时隙可以是相互间独立的,或者可以是重叠的。
本发明的分时技术允许许多重复利用模式的网元系统设计。揭示了数种网元重复利用模式,它们具有良好的操作特性和低的同频道干扰。基于消息的控制规划确定时隙的分配和对网元间移动用户单元的传送有关的某些问题的处理。
本发明允许在一常规的蜂窝式系统中利用少量的蜂窝频率而不对现有系统做太大的变动。不过,本发明特别适用于双向蜂窝式寻呼系统。
结合附图,在下面的说明中将提供本发明优选实施例的细节。掌握本发明的细节后,本技术领域的一般技术人员将显而易见的有其它的创新和变更。

本发明的详细说明
在本说明书中所列举的优选实施例和举例均为示例,而不是对本发明的限制。
本发明是蜂窝通信系统中频率重复利用的分时方法和设备。本发明使得能在常规的蜂窝系统中利用少量的蜂窝频率而无须对现有系统作重大变动。但本发明特别有用于双向蜂窝寻呼系统,尽管它也被用于任一同频道干扰成为问题的数据通信系统中。
频率重复利用的增强是借助使蜂窝系统中网元发送/接收基地台同步到一公共时基,然后通过所分配的时隙共用可兹利用的频率。蜂窝系统的公共时基可利用全球定位系统(GPS)接收机,本地时间广播,网络定时,或其他技术来产生。
可采用多种不同的时隙分配方案。例如,图2为表明按照本发明由二个干扰网元间的某时隙分配的定时图。横向量度代表时间。在所示例中,在第一时间周期Ta期间,第一同频道干扰网元X被激活,而在此同一第一时间周期Ta期间,第二同频道干扰网元Y则被停用。在第二时间周期Tb内,第一网元X被停用而第二网元Y则被激活。在第三时间周期Ta’内,网元再倒转状态,如在第一时间周期Ta中那样,在第四时间周期Tb’中亦如此等等。
图3为表明在循环时间周期Ta、Tb、和Tc期间三个干扰网元X、Y、和Z之间的等时时隙分配的定时图。虽然仅表明了3个时隙循环,但也可应用4、5、或更多的时隙,此时根据网元之间的相关利用分配给一个或多个网元“额外的”时隙。
通常,时隙周期的长度应较系统的典型的块传送时间大很多。换句话说,时隙应足够长以使与频率转换相关的辅助操作不致造成总处理能力的显著损失,而又要足够短以便使系统响应时间仍然良好。在此优选实施例中,当本发明应用于一蜂窝式寻呼系统时,各激活周期的时间可在由5秒到20秒左右之间变化。例如,在蜂窝数字数据包(CDPD)协议中,在一10秒的周期内可进行大量的数据传送。但在其他系统中,此时间周期可以更短或更长。
因为各网元均在一相对长的时间周期内“拥有”一频率,所以本发明可由其他协议采用,例如由改型的电路转换蜂窝系统和蜂窝数字数据包系统。
图4为表明按照本发明的二个干扰网元X与Y之间的不等时隙分配的定时图。例如,如果网元Y的负载或利用大于网元X的利用,则网元Y即可被分配一较长的激活时间。网元的利用量可由多种办法中的任一个来确定,例如借助(1)对网元X和Y中每一个所传送的消息块的数量加以计数和比较;或(2)确定和比较对各网元传送消息中的平均延迟时间;或(3)比较各网元中待处理消息的数量;或(4)比较这些网元中移动用户单元电子注册的数量。其他确定网元应用的措施也可应用。
应用情况一旦被确定,就可按任何所希望的样式进行时隙间的时间分配。例如,在高使用率和低使用率网元之间作为它们各自被测量得到的使用率比的函数来分派时间。作为另一示例的是,可采用这样的比例,但以最小的时间值指定给低使用率网元。时隙时间的分派可以是动态的(例如根据周期地测得的使用率)或者静态的(亦即根据连续统计的使用预设)。
图5为表明按照本发明的二个干扰网元间的重叠时隙分配的定时图。如图2中那样,在第一时间周期Ta期间第一同频道干扰网元X被激活,而在此同一时间周期Ta期间内第二同频道干扰网元Y则被停用。在第二时间周期Tb内,第一网元X被停用而第二网元Y被激活。在第三时间周期Ta’中,网元再次反转状态,如在第一时间周期Ta中那样,然后在第四时间周期Tb’中依次变化。但是时间周期Ta和Tb重叠,从而各同频道干扰网元中的用户单元在此时间的部分期间内唯一地应用一信道,而在此期间的部分期间内(既这里频率重叠)必定要争夺信道。在优先地点中(例如在当一对同频道干扰网元的二个网元基地台均在运行中的情况下,亦有良好的C/I)的用户在时隙重叠时能利用此信道。恶劣地点的用户单元在竞争用户断开时利用此信道(亦即,在恶劣地点的用户单元具有此信道的独占利用时,因为当较少干扰者在运行中时,C/I比改善)。这样的信道重叠方案使得系统的复杂性增加很少但却有较大的信道利用率。
图6为表明按照本发明的三个干扰网元间的重叠时隙配置的定时图。如所示,三个时间周期Ta、Tb、Tc是这样重叠的,即在一个循环期间仅二个频率有效。这样的结构比起不作分时频率的系统而言,C/I比有了改善,但不能得到时隙不重叠时的结构那样大的改善。不过,这种结构允许移动单元能对信道有更频繁的访问。这样的结构可能有用于对干扰具有较宽容性的系统,或者在地形条件导致较均匀的通路损失情况,从而很少机会碰到C/I的极端情况。
本发明的分时技术使得能设计具有许多重复应用模式的网元系统。仔细的配置重复利用的频率可得到特定的网元模式,该模式能提供优良的运行特点和低同频道干扰。总的说,希望(但不是必须)使群或网元组近似为圆形的。另外,通常可应用二经验法则来确定最佳重复利用模式:第一,在所有网元间(不仅仅那些在一网元组内的),尽可能远离地均隔开同频道干扰以使同频道干扰最小;第二,将邻接信道干扰(既同时采用如邻频率的那些网元)置于非邻接的网元中(这在小网元组中可能不现实)以使邻接信道干扰最少。
图7为表明按照本发明的用于蜂窝系统的四网元群的7个频率和2个时隙的地理配置的网元结构的方框图。图示为7个14网元群或网元组10。在各网元组10中,在二个交替的时隙期间,7个频率在14个网元间进行分时利用,以使得编号为1-7的网元在第一时间周期Ta期间运行而编号为1’-7’的网元在第二时间周期Tb期间运行。这一特定的网元组形状和各网元组10内的分配模式将所有同频道干扰以相等距离置于邻接的网元组中,并使所有同频道干扰尽可能地相互远离。这种配置已被证明在网元区域具有可接收的C/I比的百分比上与7个频率不作分时相比,取得了重大改善。这种配置还不存在有同时利用相邻频率的相邻网元。不过,每个网元组10内的网元的其他分配可以用来取得类似结果。
图8为表明按照本发明的用于一蜂窝系统的21网元群的7个频率和3个时隙的地理分配的网元结构的方框图。其中表明7个21网元群或网元组11。在各网元组11中,7个频率在3个7网元11的组(总共21个网元)之间作分时利用,使得编号为1-7的网元在第一时间周期Ta期间运行,编号为1’-7’的网元在第二时间周期Tb期间内运行,而编号为1”-7”的网元在第三周期Tc期间内运行。这种特定的网元组形状和各网元组11内的分配模式,将所有同频道干扰以相等距离置于邻接的网元组中,并使所有同频道干扰尽可能远离地相互分开。这种配置已表明与具有7频率而不作分时的系统或具有7频率和2时隙(如图7中所示)的系统相比,在具有可接收的C/I比的网元的百分比上获得显著改善。这种配置也没有在同时利用相邻频率的相邻网元。不过,各网元组11内的其他网元分配可以取得相当结果。
图9为表明按照本发明为一蜂窝系统的16网元群作4个频率和4个时隙的地理分配的网元结构的方框图。在各网元组12中,4个频率在4组的4个网元(总共16网元)之间作分时利用,使得编号为1-4的网元在第一时间周期Ta期间运行,编号为1’-4’的网元在第二时间周期Tb期间运行,编号为1”-4”的网元在第三时间周期Tc期间运行,而编号为1-4的网元在第四时间周期Tc期间运行。这一模式值得注意,因为仅需要4个频率而不是7个对蜂窝系统服务。这一特定的网元组形状和各网元组12内的分配模式将所有同频道干扰以相等距离布置并尽可能使之互相远离,并可表明对组12中的网元数量提供最好可能的C/I性能。这种配置也没有同时利用邻接频率的相邻网元。
另一用于小带宽系统(例如许可带宽为50KHZ)的理想结构是利用上述原理为一蜂窝系统的9网元、12网元、和15网元的群组分配3个频率和3、4或5个时隙。
一控制方案规定时隙的分配和处理有关用户单元在网元间传送的某些问题。在此优选实施例中,各网元和各用户单元保持三个同步到公共时间标准的定时器。一循环定时器周期地通过一个限定为完整的时隙循环(即传送使能/传送禁止)的时间周期计数。一时隙起始定时器在当循环定时器循环通过零时开始计数,然后计数到一予设值,在此一网元开始发送。一时隙结束定时器在网元开始发送时开始计数,然后计数到一予设值,在此网元停止发送。各定时器的予设值最好是一网元的结构信息的部分,但可以按照网元的应用作动态改变,如以上所述。
一旦构成,各网元基地台即以产生已知方式的时间信号,从而确定何时发送。各网元基地台以已知方式在还包含有其它用于控制用户单元的参数的控制消息中对所有三个定时器发送予定值。在此优选实施例中,定时器控制消息以明确定义的间隔被加以发送,以使得移动用户单元能容易地取得信息。更具体说,在此优选实施例中采用两条控制消息,ChannellD消息和CellConfig消息。
紧接时隙结束定时器到期之前,发送ChannellD消息,它提供关于欲在其上发送消息的信道的信息。此ChannellD消息含有(除其他内容外)日期(TOD)值和对循环定时器、时隙起始定时器、及时隙结束定时器的予设值。当一移动用户单元开始采集基地台信号时,它以已知的样式搜索带有能被可靠地接收的足够良好信号的信道。用户单元然后监视该信道上的数据直至用户单元接收到一ChannellD消息。用户单元被编程得以知悉已接收的ChannellD消息接近或(最好)在正由利用此信道的网元发送的数据的最后的块中。用户单元利用ChannellD消息中的定时器信息来建立一指明将由该网元作下一有效发送时间的时间依据。因而,用户单元能与之同步并跟踪一网元的时隙传送。但如果希望的话,可以采用其他措施使用户单元与网元基地台同步。
CellConfig消息提供由移动用户单元为运用网元间的过渡所需的信息。由于相邻网元利用不同的频率,在不同的时隙中有效,和可能具有不同的循环定时值,并因而具有不可与当前所选择的基地台同步的发送时间,所以,这类信息需要被发送给每个用户单元。因此,来自一网元的CellConfig消息含有一被相邻网元所用的所有频率的表,以及对与各个这样的频率相关的循环定时器、时隙起始定时器、和时隙结束定时器的予置值(这些值可能与当前网元所用的频率的对应值不同)。在此优选法实施例中,各CellConfig消息在或接近各网元的有效发送周期的起始被发送。当一用户单元在一特定信道上正在采集和已经接收到他的第一ChannellD消息时,用户单元等待直到发送的基地台再次开始传送(如由ChannellD消息中的定时器值所确定的)。然后此用户单元提取在下一发送时隙中发送的CellConfig消息。
用户单元可利用接收到的CellConfig消息中的日期和定时器的值来确定各相邻网元何时将成为有效,这使得用户单元在这些相邻网元在CellConfig消息中所指明的频率上成为有效时能经常地监视和扫描它们。当进行了扫描和用户单元评判了每一被指明的相邻网元的信道(各网元均有一专用信道)时,用户单元以公知的样式选择最好的网元基地台,并通过新的网元发送数据包和开始与蜂窝网络的登记及通讯。
通过将ChannellD消息置于一网元在其有效时隙期间的传送的尾端,和将CellConfig置于一网元在其下一有效时隙期间的传送的起端,本发明减少了用户单元为取得与网元同步和评估其他网元信道所需信息而需要的时间。
本发明的系统可以硬件或软件或二者的组合来实现。特别是,时间和定时器值的产生,以及ChannellD消息及CellConfig消息的产生、传送、和利用,都可以在蜂窝系统的基地台和用户单元中的可编程处理器上执行的计算机程序中实现。各计算机程序最好被存储在可由通用或专用计算机读取的存储媒体或装置(例如ROM或磁盘)上,以便在当此存储媒体或装置被计算机读取来执行上述协议时结构和操作此计算机。本发明的协议也可考虑被作为有计算机程序结构的计算机可读存储媒体,在此,这样结构的存储媒体促使计算机以一特殊和预先定义的状态运行来执行上述协议。
概括说,本发明包括一种在蜂窝通信系统中重复使用频率的方法,它依靠在相互间有显著同频道干扰范围内将同样的频率分配到蜂窝系统中的相邻网元,以及周期地启动各个这样的相邻网元以便至少部分地仅在没有其他这种相邻网元被激活的时间周期内进行传送。
本发明也可被认为是一种在蜂窝系统中提供更多(或“虚拟”)信道的途径。在这种思路中,信道由其定时及其载波频率两者指定。这样,分成时隙允许比仅用频率的系统有更多的信道。
在介绍了本发明的某些实施方案之后,对于本技术领域内的普通技术人员来说,各种各样的替代方案、修改方案和改进方案都容易产生。这类替代方案、修改方案、和改进方案都在本发明的精髓和范围之内。因此,上述介绍仅仅是作为实例,没有任何限制的倾向。本发明只受权利要求书及其等价物的限制。
Claims (29)
1.一种在蜂窝通信系统中重复利用频率的方法,其特征在于包括:
a)在足以使得相互间产生显著的同频道干扰的近范围内对蜂
窝系统中所选择的网元分配相同频率;和
b)周期地启动各被选择的网元使之至少部分地仅在没有任何
其他这样选择的网元被激活的时间周期内进行发送。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其特征是每个被选择网元在一相同频率上启动发送的时间周期与所有被选择网元的时间周期相同。
3.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其特征是每个被选择网元在同一相同频率上启动发送的时间与至少某些被选择网元的时间周期不同。
4.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其特征是每个被选择网元在一相同频率启动发送的时间周期不与任何被选择网元在该相同频率上启动发送的任何时间周期重叠。
5.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其特征是每个被选择网元被启动的时间周期为该被选择网元的相对应用的函数。
6.一种在蜂窝通信系统中重复利用频率的方法,其特征在于包括:
a)在足以使得相互间产生显著的同频道干扰的近范围内对蜂
窝系统的一网元组中的第一选择数量的网元分配分隔的频
率;
b)对与第一选择数量的网元相对应的网元组中的至少一个第
二选择数量的网元分配频率,被分配到该至少一第二选择
数量的网元的每一个网元的频率与分配到第一选择数量的
网元的对应网元的频率相同;和
c)周期地启动第一选择数量的网元和至少一第二选择数量的
网元中的各对应网元,使之至少部分地仅在没有其他任何
对应网元被激活的时间周期内进行发送。
7.根据权利要求6所述的方法,其特征是各对应网元被启动在一相同频率上发送的时间周期与用于所有对应网元的持续时间相同。
8.根据权利要求6所述的方法,其特征是各对应网元被启动在一相同频率上发送的时间周期与至少某些对应网元的持续时间不同。
9.根据权利要求6所述的方法,其特征是各对应网元被启动在一相同频率上发送的时间周期不与任一其他对应网元被启动在该相同频率上发送的任一时间周期相同。
10.根据权利要求6所述的方法,其特征是各对应网元被启动的时间周期是该网元的相关应用函数。
11.根据权利要求6所述的方法,其特征是分隔的频率的数量为7,第一选择的网元数量为7,和至少第二选择网元的数量为7,而分隔的和相同的频率以图7中所示模式分配到网元组内的这些网元。
12.根据权利要求6所述的方法,其特征是至少一个第二选择数量网元包含一个第二选择数量网元和一个第三选择数量网元;而且其中的分隔频率的数量为7,第一选择网元数为7,第二选择网元数为7,和第三选择网元数为7;而分隔频率和相同频率以图8中所示模式分配到网元组中这些网元。
13.根据权利要求6所述的方法,其特征是该至少第二选择数量网元包含一第二、第三和第四选择数量网元;分隔频率的数量为4,第一选择网元数为4,第二选择网元数为4,第三选择网元数为4,和第四选择网元数为4;而分隔频率和相同频率以图9中所示模式分配到网元组中这些网元。
14.一种在蜂窝通信系统中重复利用频率的方法,其特征在于包括:
a)在足以使得相互间产生显著的同频道干扰的范围内将相同
频率分配到蜂窝系统中的被选择网元;和
b)周期地启动各个该选择网元使之至少部分地仅在并非所有
其他被选择网元激活的时间周期内进行发送。
15.根据权利要求14所述的方法,其特征是三个被选择网元被分配相同频率,而且在各时间周期内每次仅周期性地启动三个网元中的两个同时进行传送。
16.根据权利要求14所述的方法,其特征是各被选择网元被启动在相同频率上发送的时间周期与所有被选择网元的持续时间相同。
17.根据权利要求14所述的方法,其特征是各被选择网元被启动在相同频率上发送的时间周期至少与某些被选择网元的持续时间不同。
18.一种在蜂窝通信系统中重复利用频率的方法,其特征在于包括:
a)在足以使得相互间产生显著的同频道干扰的范围内将相同
频率分配到蜂窝系统中被选择的网元;
b)周期地启动各被选择的网元使之至少部分地仅在没有任何
其他被选择的网元被激活的时间周期内进行传送;以及
c)周期地在蜂窝系统内由各网元基地台向范围内的用户单元
发送含有为使各该用户单元与该网元基地台同步的信息的
第一消息。
19.根据权利要求18所述的方法,其特征是此第一消息由各网元基地台在一时间周期的接近结束时发送,以使得接收用户单元能与该网元基地台同步,从而在下一时间周期内与该网元基地台进行通信。
20.根据权利要求18所述的方法,其特征是此第一消息由各网元基地台在各时间周期的接近结束时发送,以使得接收用户单元能与该网元基地台同步,从而在下一时间周期内与该网元基地台进行通信。
21.根据权利要求18所述的方法,其特征还在于包括由各该网元基地台周期地向该用户单元发送含有使各用户单元与至少一被选择网元的网元基地台同步的信息的第二消息。
22.根据权利要求18所述的方法,其特征还在于包括由各该网元基地台周期地在与发送此第二消息的基地台不同的频率上向该用户单元发送含有使各用户单元与至少一被选择网元的网元基地台同步的信息的第二消息。
23.根据权利要求21或22所述的方法,其特征是该第一消息由各网元基地台在一时间周期接近结束时发送,以及该第二消息由各网元基地台在下一相同周期接近开始时发送,以便使接收用户单元能在下一时间周期内能与所选择的网元同步。
24.一种在蜂窝通信系统中重复利用频率的方法,其特征在于包括:
a)分配多个频率信道到用于网元用户发送的蜂窝系统,该蜂
窝系统包括移动单元和基地台;
b)分配该蜂窝系统的网元用户可能进行发送的发送时间周
期;和
c)选择蜂窝系统内网元用户的发送频率信道的映射和在此蜂
窝系统内提供所希望的容量和C/I性能的发送时间周期。
25.根据权利要求24所述的方法,其特征是映射到发送频率信道之一的每个网元用户在与所有其他映射到该一个发送频率信道的网元用户同样的时间长度内进行发送。
26.根据权利要求24所述的方法,其特征在于至少一个映射到发送信道之一的网元用户在与至少一个映射到该一个发送频率信道的网元用户不同的时间长度内进行发送。
27.根据权利要求24所述的方法,其特征是用于各网元用户的发送时间周期与用于任一其他使相互间产生显著的同频道干扰的范围内的其他网元用户的发送时间周期不重叠。
28.根据权利要求24所述的方法,其特征是各网元用户进行发送的发送时间周期是该网元用户和在同一频率信道上发送的最接近的映射的网元用户的相关应用的函数。
29.一种在蜂窝通信系统中重复利用频率的方法,其特征在于包括:
a)在足以使得相互间产生显著的同频道干扰的范围内分配至
少三个不同频率到蜂窝系统中被选择网元;
b)分配该蜂窝系统能进行发送的至少三个发送时间周期;和
c)周期地启动各该被选择网元使之至少部分地在并非所有该
其他被选择网元被激活的发送时间周期内进行发送。
