本发明的制品可通过用聚异丁烯聚合物颗粒和聚烯烃聚合物颗粒的水性分散体涂覆纸或纸板基材,然后如本文所述除去水来制备。聚异丁烯聚合物颗粒和聚烯烃聚合物颗粒的水性分散体有利地通过将聚异丁烯聚合物颗粒的水性分散体和聚烯烃聚合物颗粒的水性分散体共混来制备。聚异丁烯聚合物颗粒的水性分散体可以通过在合适的表面活性剂的存在下在高剪切条件下将树脂状可流动聚异丁烯分散到水中来制备。如本文所用,“聚异丁烯”是指异丁烯均聚物以及包含异丁烯和共聚单体的重复单元的共聚物,其中异丁烯重复单元形成该共聚物的大部分。共聚物的示例包括聚(异丁烯-异戊二烯)和聚(异丁烯-琥珀酸酐),并且可商购获得的聚异丁烯(polyisobutylene)(也称为聚异丁烯(polyisobutenes))均聚物和共聚物的示例包括Oppanol B10、Oppanol B12、Oppanol B15、Oppanol B100和Oppanol B200聚异丁烯;Glissopal V190、Glissopal V500、GlissopalV640和Glissopal V1500聚异丁烯;Vistanex LM-MH、Vistanex LM-MS、LM-H聚异丁烯;Laxess X Butyl RB 100、Laxess X Butyl RB 101-3和Laxess X Butyl RB 402异丁烯-异戊二烯共聚物;以及HRD-350、HRD-400、HRD-450、HRD-500、HRD-600、HRD-650和HRD 950聚异丁烯。
合适的表面活性剂的示例包括阴离子表面活性剂诸如碱金属C8-C20-烷基苯磺酸盐和硫酸盐,以及非离子表面活性剂诸如仲醇乙氧基化物和C8-C20--烷基葡糖苷。合适的阴离子表面活性剂的具体示例包括十二烷基苯磺酸钠和十二烷基苯硫酸钠。仲醇乙氧基化物可由下式表征:

其中x优选地为10至50,优选地为10至40。合适的表面活性剂的可商购获得的示例包括TERGITOLTM 15-S-40、TERGITOL 15-S-20和TERGITOL TMN-10仲醇乙氧基化物表面活性剂(陶氏化学公司(The Dow Chemical Company)或其分支机构的商标)。合适的烷基葡糖苷包括癸基葡糖苷、十二烷基葡糖苷和月桂基葡糖苷。
如使用动态光散射粒度分析仪(例如,Beckman LS230粒度分析仪)测定的分散的聚异丁烯聚合物颗粒的D90粒度在0.1μm、优选0.2μm、更优选0.5μm至12μm、优选至8μm、更优选至4μm、并且最优选至2μm的范围内。
聚烯烃颗粒的水性分散体可通过如US 8,318,257和US 7,803,865中所述的连续双螺杆挤出方法制备。聚烯烃聚合物颗粒的分散体可通过在分散剂、中和剂和偶联剂的存在下分散聚合物颗粒来制备,如例如US10612913中所述。分散剂优选为包含乙烯和羧酸单体的结构单元的共聚物(即,乙烯-羧酸共聚物),其中共聚物具有50g/10min至2000g/10min范围内的熔体流动指数,并且乙烯单体与羧酸单体的结构单元的重量与重量比在95:5至70:30范围内。熔体流动指数范围是通过ASTM 1238在190℃的温度和2.16Kg的负载重量轴承下测定的范围。
如本文所用,合适的聚烯烃颗粒具有宽分子量范围,但不包括聚烯烃蜡,该聚烯烃蜡可由下式描述:
H-(CH2CHR)x-H
其中R是H或CH3,并且x在72至360的范围内。
中和剂可以是无机碱或有机碱。合适的无机碱的示例包括氨、氢氧化钾、氢氧化钠和氢氧化钙;合适的有机碱的示例包括N,N-二甲基乙醇胺(DMEA)、二乙胺和吗啉。中和剂的浓度优选地足够高以中和分散体中的至少一半羧酸基团。例如,如果分散体在给定质量中包含0.05mol羧酸基团,则将需要至少0.025mol的中和剂诸如N,N-二甲基乙醇胺。因此,中和剂中的碱性官能团(优选胺基团或氨)与分散体中的羧酸基团的比率优选为至少0.5:1。用分散剂和中和剂制备的组合物将包含中和剂或其盐或它们的组合。
可以包含偶联剂以改善分散剂与聚烯烃之间的相容性。合适的偶联剂的示例包括乙烯-共-马来酸酐,当使用时,基于聚烯烃、分散剂和偶联剂的重量计,其以5重量%至20重量%,更优选至10重量%的范围内的浓度存在。
分散的聚烯烃颗粒的D90粒度,也使用动态光散射粒度分析仪来测定,在0.1μm,优选0.2μm,更优选0.5μm,至12μm,优选至8μm,更优选至4μm,并且最优选至2μm的范围内。
聚烯烃分散体是聚丙烯分散体或聚乙烯分散体。如本文所用,“聚乙烯”是指线性低密度聚乙烯;低密度聚乙烯;高密度聚乙烯;乙烯-烯烃共聚物,诸如乙烯-共-辛烯共聚物、乙烯-共-己烯共聚物或乙烯-丙烯共聚物;乙烯-羧酸酯共聚物,诸如乙烯-丙烯酸甲酯共聚物或乙烯-丙烯酸乙酯共聚物;乙烯-羧酸共聚物,诸如乙烯-甲基丙烯酸;以及它们的组合。(当聚乙烯-羧酸共聚物具有小于90mg KOH/g的酸值时,其被认为是聚乙烯。)
水性聚乙烯分散体的商业示例包括CANVERATM 1110聚烯烃分散体、HYPODTM 2000聚烯烃分散体和RHOBARRTM 320聚烯烃弹性体分散体(CANVERA、HYPOD和RHOBARR是陶氏化学公司或其分支机构的商标)。
如本文所用,聚丙烯是指聚丙烯均聚物以及包含聚丙烯和共聚单体的重复单元的共聚物,其中聚丙烯重复单元形成共聚物的大部分。
聚异丁烯聚合物颗粒与聚烯烃聚合物颗粒(优选聚乙烯聚合物颗粒)的重量/重量比优选在25:75至70:30,更优选至65:35的范围内。
在将分散体合并后,可使用绕线刮涂棒将组合物施涂到纸或纸板。有利地加热湿膜以去除水并形成干燥涂层,优选加热至从50℃,更优选从70℃至优选150℃,更优选120℃的范围内的温度以提供厚度在从3μm,优选从6μm,并且更优选从8μm至20μm,优选至16μm,并且更优选至12μm的范围内的最终干燥膜。
在另一个方面,本发明是一种制品,该制品包括附连到纸或纸板基材的膜,其中所述膜包含20重量%至80重量%的聚异丁烯聚合物和20重量%至80重量%的聚烯烃,所述聚烯烃是聚乙烯或聚丙烯,其中所述膜具有约4μm至20μm的范围内的厚度。优选地,所述膜包含如上文所定义的聚异丁烯聚合物和聚乙烯。膜中聚异丁烯聚合物与聚烯烃聚合物(优选聚乙烯聚合物)的重量与重量比优选在25:75至70:30,更优选至65:35的范围内。
纸或纸板的重量密度在40g/m2至350g/m2的范围内。对于纸,优选的重量密度在60g/m2至100g/m2的范围内;对于纸板,优选的重量密度在200g/m2至300g/m2的范围内。纸或纸板可以是未涂覆的,或预涂覆的以在施涂涂料制剂之前产生光滑表面。
已经发现,纸或纸板基材上的聚异丁烯-聚烯烃膜的薄涂层赋予期望的湿气阻隔特性以及可接受的低水平的粘性。经涂覆的基材适合于包装应用,所述包装应用需要相对低比率的经涂覆的树脂与基材重量以用于再循环目的。
实施例
实施例1-聚异丁烯树脂分散体A(PIBD-A)的制备
将HRD-400聚异丁烯树脂(50g,由山东鸿瑞新材料科技有限公司(ShandongHongrui New Material Technology Co.,Inc.)提供)、TERGITOLTM TMN-10分散剂(2.8g,90%活性)和水(2.2g)合并,并使用FlackTek SpeedMixer DAC 150.1FV-K以3500rpm混合4分钟。然后,在搅拌下逐渐加入另外的水(45g)以形成具有50%固体含量和1.13μm的D90粒度的水性聚异丁烯(PIB)分散体。
实施例2-聚异丁烯树脂分散体B(PIBD-B)的制备
将HRD-400聚异丁烯(50g)、TERGITOLTM15-s-9分散剂(2.5g)和水(2.5g)合并,并使用FlackTek SpeedMixer DAC 150.1FV-K以3500rpm混合4分钟。然后,在搅拌下逐渐加入另外的水(45g)以形成具有50%固体和1.03μm的D90粒度的水性PIB分散体。
实施例3-聚异丁烯树脂分散体C(PIBD-C)的制备
将HRD-400聚异丁烯树脂(50g)和Plantacare 2000UP癸基葡糖苷(5g,50%活性,由BASF提供)合并,并使用FlackTek SpeedMixer DAC 150.1FV-K以3500rpm混合4分钟。然后,在搅拌下逐渐加入另外的水(45g)以形成具有50%固体含量和1.02μm的D90粒度的水性PIB分散体。
实施例4-聚异丁烯树脂分散体D(PIBD-D)的制备
将HRD-400聚异丁烯树脂(50g)和DS-4十二烷基苯磺酸钠(5g,23%活性)合并,并使用FlackTek SpeedMixer DAC 150.1FV-K以3500rpm混合4分钟。然后,在搅拌下逐渐加入另外的水(45g)以形成具有50%固体含量和0.87μm的D90粒度的水性PIB分散体。
将CANVERA 1110聚烯烃分散体(CANV,43%固体)或RHOBARR 320聚烯烃分散体(RHOB,43%固体)与该PIB分散体在环境温度下合并以形成如表1中所述的组合物。列出的所有量均以未调节固体含量的总分散体的克数计。

通过在室温下共混组分来制备涂料制剂。使用迈耶棒自动涂膜装置用线棒将该共混物涂覆到纸张上(60g/m2)。将涂覆的膜在100℃下干燥2分钟,并将干膜厚度控制为10±2μm。
表2示出了在38℃和90%相对湿度下的湿气透过率(WVTR)性能。WVTR使用MOCONTRAN型号3/33渗透分析仪按照ASTM D3985-02在38℃和90%相对湿度下测量。比较例3是纯PIB分散体。使用具有0.5cm/s探针速度和1s停留时间的PT-1000探针粘性测试仪评价膜粘性。WVTR以g/m2·天测量。WVTR降低是指相对于来自比较例1、2和4中相应的未共混PE分散体的涂料,来自PB/PE共混物的涂料的WVTR降低百分比。

数据表明仅由聚乙烯分散体形成的涂层显示出差的WVTR(>100g/m2·天)。相反,使用仅由PIB分散体或由PIB分散体和PE分散体的共混物制备的涂料实现小于100g/m2·天的WVTR。然而,如表3所示,WVTR和探针粘性的适当平衡需要由共混物形成的涂层。探针粘性以克为单位测量。低粘性是纸张涂布应用所必需的。

由PIBD-A和CANVERA 1110聚烯烃分散体(其为高密度聚乙烯的分散体)的共混物产生的涂层在宽范围内具有优异的粘性和WVTR特性。相反,由PIBD-A产生的涂层仅得到差的粘性(>4.5g)。
Claims (7)
1.一种制品,所述制品包括附连到纸或纸板基材的膜,其中所述膜包含20重量%至80重量%的聚异丁烯和20重量%至80重量%的聚烯烃;其中所述膜具有在约3μm至20μm的范围内的厚度。
2.根据权利要求1所述的制品,其中所述聚烯烃是聚乙烯,并且所述聚异丁烯是聚异丁烯均聚物。
3.根据权利要求2所述的制品,其中所述聚异丁烯均聚物与所述聚乙烯的重量-重量比在25:75至70:30的范围内。
4.根据权利要求2所述的制品,其中所述聚异丁烯均聚物与所述聚乙烯的重量-重量比在25:75至65:35围内。
5.根据权利要求1至4中任一项所述的制品,其中所述聚乙烯包括乙烯-共-辛烯共聚物或乙烯-丙烯酸乙酯共聚物或它们的组合。
6.根据权利要求1至4中任一项所述的制品,其中所述聚乙烯包括高密度聚乙烯。
7.根据权利要求1所述的制品,所述制品还包含分散剂和偶联剂。
