Preferably, the lavender essential oil is extracted by a distillation method, the lavender flower wax is extracted by a carbon dioxide method, the lavender absolute oil is extracted by a carbon dioxide method, and the lavender extract is extracted by ultrasonic waves;
1) Antibacterial effect of lavender
Lavender has inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus, streptococcus and Sarcina, and aromatic alcohol therein has antibacterial and antifungal effects; lis-Balchin (1998) found that aromatic alcohol is the main antibacterial component of lavender essential oil, and can inhibit the growth of 17 bacteria (G + and G-) and 10 fungi, and in vitro experiments show that lavender essential oil with the concentration of less than 1% has the effects of resisting methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and enterococcus faecalis. The research reports that the lavender essential oil vapor can also inhibit the growth of aspergillus fumigatus mycelia, the effective concentration of the lavender essential oil vapor on trichophyton mentagrophytes and trichophyton rubrum is 10-20 mu g/ml, and 60 spores can be killed when the concentration is 150 mu g/ml. Inouye et al (2001) showed that lavender essential oil could not treat deep infections but only local infections, as demonstrated by in vitro antimicrobial activity tests. Shen Lina can be used for treating 4 tinea pedis patients with conventional drug-induced ineffectiveness by using preparation containing lavender essential oil and herba Equiseti hiemalis extract. He Ruizhen can be used for treating tinea manus and tinea pedis with self-made XIANGCHUN tincture (containing Lavender essential oil and radix Stemonae).
2) Sedative hypnotic and anticonvulsive effects of lavender
The use of lavender essential oil for aromatherapy is of great benefit, and Diego et al 1998 found that inhalation of 10% lavender essential oil by a subject for 3min showed significant physical relaxation, a reduction in anxiety score, a good mental state and an increase in sleep. It has been reported that after the administration of hypnotics such as temazepam, chlorpromazine, and chlormethiazole is stopped for 31 mental patients for 2 weeks, the odor of lavender essential oil is put into a ward, and the sleep time of the patients is the same as that of the hypnotics every night. Liu Shu liters and the like are used for treating 50 patients with neurosis by smelling fragrance with lavender flowers, and one treatment course is 8 weeks, so that sleep disorder, mood disorder, somatization symptoms, electroencephalogram and cerebral hemogram of the neurosis are improved, and no adverse reaction is seen. French lavender has been reported to be used for folk therapy of many central nervous system diseases, and has anticonvulsant effect by inhaling lavender oil vapor. In addition, through animal experiments, the authors inject 600mg/kg of lavender flower extract into the abdominal cavity to have no hypnotic effect on the sleep of the mice induced by pentobarbital, but can prolong the sleep time from 39.4min to 65.4min, the effect is similar to that of diazepam, and the lavender flower extract has a sedative effect. In addition, lavender oil is reported to relieve mania of patients with severe dementia, 18% -65% of patients with senile dementia have mania, and the first-line medicament for treating the mania is a tranquilizer, but has large side effect. The authors carried out clinical trials, evaluating from 4 aspects, on the premise that inhalation of lavender oil could have a beneficial effect on manic behavior in patients with severe dementia: the abnormal voice is used for speaking, the action is maniac, the invasive behavior and the counter-resistance nursing are carried out, and the evaluation result of the patients shows that 60 percent of the patients have improvement. The experts consider that the lavender oil has moderate curative effect on the manic behavior of the patients with the severe dementia.
3) Lavender spasmolytic and analgesic effects
The function of lavender is negotiated in a book of 'New drug materia Medica' in China: the oil has effect in promoting qi circulation, and can be used for treating flatulence and colic by dripping oil or its alcohol solution on sugar. The compound Lavender tincture has effects of promoting qi circulation and resisting spasm. Lis-Balchin M, hart S demonstrated the spasmolytic effect of lavender in vitro experiments in guinea pig ileum and rat uterus, and the spasmolytic effect of lavender oil was not through adrenergic and cholinergic receptors, probably by increasing intracellular adenosine monophosphate levels. In animal experiments, the lavender dried flower extract with the concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml is added into in-vitro rabbit jejunum culture solution in animal experiments, so that spontaneous contraction of intestinal canals can be inhibited, and spasmolysis is shown, and the effect is similar to verapamil. After the jejunum is washed for 2 times, the spasmolysis can be reversed, spontaneous contraction is recovered, and the spasmolytic activity of the jejunum can be related to the contained 7-methoxycoumarin (having muscle relaxation effect).
The data in the Duke phytochemistry and ethnic phytochemistry databases show that lavender oil contains cholinesterase inhibitors 1,8-eucalyptol, borneol, coumarin and limonene, which have analgesic, anesthetic, anti-nociceptive (i.e., alleviating the sensation of pain), muscle relaxant and calming effects. Style et al (1997) reported that topical application of vegetable oils such as lavender can relieve pain in children with HIV. Woolfson et al (1992) reported that topical application of lavender oil in an emergency situation reduced the sensation of pain. In 1998, a cross-over study by Brownfield showed that massage with lavender essential oil reduced the pain sensation of the patient, improved sleep quality and reduced pain in patients with chronic rheumatoid arthritis. The lavender essential oil can also relieve pain and discomfort of parturient after delivery.
4) Fast allergic response inhibiting effect of lavender Kim HM, cho SH studied the effect of lavender oil in mast cell mediated fast allergic responses in mice and rats. Results Lavender oil (1: 500,1: 100,1: 10,1: 1,1: 0) inhibited the concentration-dependent oncotic response of mast cells induced by complex 48/80, topical and intradermal administration also inhibited the rat-dependent passive cutaneous allergic response induced by anti-DNP IgE; they also inhibit their induced concentration-dependent histamine release from peritoneal mast cells. Furthermore, lavender oil (1: 100,1: 10,1: 1,1: 0) has significant inhibitory effect on the secretion of tumor necrosis factor of peritoneal mast cells. These results indicate that the fast allergic reaction inhibiting effect of lavender oil is by inhibiting the degranulation of mast cells.
5) Other effects of Lavender
Hohman (1999) experiments demonstrated that 50% methanol extract of Lavandula angustifolia can inhibit Lipid Peroxidation (LPO), wherein rosmarinic acid, a phenolic component, is an antioxidant active. The lavender flower water extract can prevent glutamic acid-induced infantile cerebellar granular cell culture neurotoxicity, but has dose-related effect of neuroprotection. It has been reported that a cosmetic liquid containing lavender flower extract has an effect of degrading fat. Further, it has been reported that lavandula angustifolia volatile oil (which has an antibody-producing activity in a hemolytic plaque assay) and an extract of flowers or whole plants are added to foods or drinks for use as an immunopotentiator.
Lavender also has diuretic, blood pressure lowering, calcium channel blocking, and mosquito and mite killing effects.
According to foreign documents, the flowers of lavender are used as a domestic medicine for treating neurogenic heartbeat, flatulence and colic and can play a diuretic role. The essential oil is an antibacterial agent and is used for smearing wounds, and has the effects of disinfecting, promoting skin healing and reducing scars. The stem, leaf and essential oil of Lavender can be used as antiseptic, and can be used for treating scald, burn, ulcer, skin rubella, eczema, psoriasis, etc., and promoting regeneration of alopecia. Many studies have demonstrated that lavender oil has the efficacy of expelling roundworms, mosquitoes and killing mites. Lavender has been reported by Spanish nationality for antipyretic, analgesic, and wound healing. Jodan people also use it for treating hemiplegia, and Uygur medicine uses lavender from India to treat vitiligo. Lavender is a traditional medicine for Xinjiang Uygur medicine, is called as Du Sai in Wu Sidi in the Uygur medicine manual of the ministry standard, has 7 traditional formulas of Lavender in the Uygur medicine manual, and is a compound medicine, and the traditional medicine is generally prepared from whole herbs. The Uygur medicine considers that the lavender is second-level damp-heat, can dissipate cold, tonify stomach and regulate brain, eliminate dampness and relieve pain, and is used for treating fullness and distention in chest and abdomen, cold cough and asthma, dizziness and headache, palpitation and shortness of breath, and joint and bone pain. The medicinal research on water extracts and alcohol extracts of lavender has been reported in foreign countries, but is less common. Nowadays, research and application of lavender are more focused on lavender essential oil. At present, over-the-counter medicine Qingfeng oil containing lavender components is sold on the market in China, and the Yunnan Baiyao aerosol also contains lavender oil;
