Detailed Description
In order to make the objects, technical solutions and advantages of the embodiments of the present invention clearer, the technical solutions of the embodiments of the present invention will be clearly and completely described below with reference to the drawings of the embodiments of the present invention. It is to be understood that the embodiments described are only a few embodiments of the present invention, and not all embodiments. All other embodiments, which can be derived by a person skilled in the art from the described embodiments of the invention, are within the scope of the invention.
Referring to fig. 1, fig. 1 is a timing diagram illustrating a driving of a pixel of a display panel to display a frame in the related art. As shown in fig. 1, in the related art, when a display panel displays a frame of picture, usually, the display panel scans line by line from top to bottom, each line of pixels is sequentially turned on by a gate driving signal to charge and discharge the pixels, and the pixels are driven to emit light after writing a corresponding voltage through a data signal line, and assuming that a refresh rate is a (hz), a time for completing a frame of picture refresh is 1/a(s). In addition, after the display panel is arranged by using SPR (Sub Pixel Rendering) (for example, in the GGRB arrangement), the data lines in odd rows need to be written with voltages alternately for the red Sub-Pixel and the blue Sub-Pixel, and taking the data line D1 in fig. 1 as an example, when displaying a frame of picture, voltages need to be written sequentially for the red Sub-Pixel, the blue Sub-Pixel, the red Sub-Pixel, and the blue Sub-Pixel …, and when displaying a picture with a large number of monochrome (for example, red or blue), the voltage of the data line needs to jump continuously, which results in waste of power consumption.
Therefore, please refer to fig. 2, which is a flowchart illustrating a driving method of a display panel according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in fig. 2, the driving method of the display panel in the embodiment of the present invention includes the following steps:
step 201: refreshing the data voltage of the pixels of the display panel line by line when a target frame picture is displayed;
step 202: when an Nth frame picture after a target frame picture is displayed, if N is an odd number, sequentially refreshing the data voltages of the pixels in the odd number rows, and keeping the data voltages of the pixels in the even number rows as the data voltages when the adjacent previous frame picture is displayed;
or, when displaying the nth frame picture after the target frame picture, if N is an odd number, sequentially refreshing the data voltages of the pixels in the even number rows, and keeping the data voltages of the pixels in the odd number rows as the data voltages when displaying the adjacent previous frame picture, if N is an even number, sequentially refreshing the data voltages of the pixels in the odd number rows, and keeping the data voltages of the pixels in the odd number rows as the data voltages when displaying the adjacent previous frame picture;
wherein N is a positive integer.
In the embodiment of the invention, the pixels in the odd rows and the pixels in the even rows of the display panel can be driven independently. When the target frame picture is displayed, the data voltage of the pixels of the display panel is refreshed line by line, and at the moment, the pixels of the odd lines or the pixels of the even lines of the display panel work normally. When displaying the nth frame picture after the target frame picture, only refreshing the data voltage of half of the pixels of the display panel, wherein the half of the pixels can be odd-row pixels or even-row pixels, and meanwhile, for the other half of the pixels of the display panel, the data voltage is kept to be the data voltage when displaying the adjacent previous frame picture, namely, the other half of the pixels of the display panel are not refreshed but kept unchanged; when the display panel displays a frame (no matter an odd frame or an even frame) after the target frame, only the data voltage of half of the pixels needs to be refreshed, so that for a user, the frame is updated for 2 frames within the time of (1/refresh rate), namely, the display with 2 times of refresh rate is realized, and therefore, the high-frequency refresh of 2 times can be realized on the premise of not increasing the driving difficulty of the display panel.
An exemplary description is provided below.
In some embodiments of the present invention, when displaying the nth frame picture after the target frame picture, if N is an odd number, that is, the nth frame picture is an odd frame picture, the data voltages of the pixels in the odd rows are sequentially refreshed, that is, the data voltages of the pixels in the corresponding row are sequentially refreshed according to the order of the pixels in the 1 st row, the pixels in the 3 rd row, and the pixels in the 5 th row … …, and meanwhile, the data voltages of the pixels in the even rows are kept as the data voltages when displaying the adjacent previous frame picture, that is, the data voltages of the pixels in the even rows are not required to be refreshed, and only the data voltages when displaying the adjacent previous frame picture need to be kept, where the pixels in the even rows, that is, the pixels in the 2 nd row, the pixels in the 4 th row, and the pixels in the 6 th row, … …
In other embodiments of the present invention, when displaying the nth frame picture after the target frame picture, if N is an even number, that is, the nth frame picture is an even frame picture, the data voltages of the pixels in the even rows are sequentially refreshed, that is, the data voltages of the pixels in the corresponding row are sequentially refreshed according to the sequence of the pixels in the 2 nd row, the pixels in the 4 th row and the pixels in the 6 th row … …, and meanwhile, the data voltages of the pixels in the odd rows are kept as the data voltages when displaying the adjacent previous frame picture, that is, the data voltages of the pixels in the odd rows are not required to be refreshed, and only the data voltages when displaying the adjacent previous frame picture need to be kept, where the pixels in the odd rows are the pixels in the 1 st row, the pixels in the 3 rd row and the pixels in the 5 th row … …
The two modes can ensure that only half of the data voltages of the pixels (odd-row pixels or even-row pixels) in the display panel need to be refreshed when the nth frame picture after the target frame picture is displayed, and 2 times of high-frequency refreshing can be realized on the premise of not increasing the driving difficulty of the display panel.
Referring to fig. 3 to 6, fig. 3 is a schematic diagram of pixel arrangement of a display panel according to an embodiment of the present invention, fig. 4 is a schematic diagram of data voltages for refreshing pixels in odd rows according to an embodiment of the present invention, fig. 5 is a schematic diagram of data voltages for refreshing pixels in even rows according to an embodiment of the present invention, and fig. 6 is a schematic diagram of a timing sequence for driving the pixels of the display panel to display two frames according to an embodiment of the present invention. In fig. 3 to 6, G1, G2, G3 … … G (2n-1), G (2n) denote gate lines in the nth row, n is a positive integer, D1, D2, D3 … … D (2m-1), D (2m) denote data lines in the mth column, and m is a positive integer. In an embodiment of the present invention, the display panel includes a gate driving circuit, a data driving circuit, and a plurality of pixels arranged in rows and columns, wherein each pixel includes a plurality of sub-pixels, the gate driving circuit includes a plurality of rows of gate lines, each row of gate lines is connected to all sub-pixels in a row of pixels, the data driving circuit includes a plurality of columns of data lines, each column of data lines is connected to a column of sub-pixels, sub-pixels in odd rows of pixels connected to a same column of data lines are same color sub-pixels, and/or sub-pixels in even rows of pixels connected to a same column of data lines are same color sub-pixels. In step 202, when the odd-numbered pixels are sequentially driven to emit light, since the sub-pixels connected to the same column of data lines in the odd-numbered pixels are all sub-pixels with the same color, the column of data lines only need to write the same sub-pixels with the same voltage and do not need to be alternately switched when providing the write voltage, so that power consumption is reduced.
Therefore, in the embodiment of the invention, when the display panel adopts the SPR technology to carry out pixel arrangement (such as a GGRB arrangement mode), the driving method can realize 2 times of high-frequency refreshing on the premise of not increasing the driving difficulty of the display panel, and can ensure that when a single-row data line provides writing voltage, only the same seed pixel needs to be written without alternation, thereby saving the power consumption.
In some embodiments of the present invention, the sub-pixels connected to the odd-numbered columns of data lines of the display panel include two single-color sub-pixels with different colors, the two single-color sub-pixels with different colors are alternately arranged in the column direction, and the sub-pixels connected to the even-numbered columns of data lines are all single-color sub-pixels with the same color. Optionally, the sub-pixels connected to the odd-numbered column data lines include two types of single-color sub-pixels, namely a red sub-pixel and a blue sub-pixel, and the sub-pixels connected to the even-numbered column data lines are green sub-pixels. Of course, in the embodiment of the present invention, the sub-pixels connected to the even-numbered column data lines of the display panel may include two single-color sub-pixels with different colors, the two single-color sub-pixels with different colors are alternately arranged in the column direction, and the sub-pixels connected to the odd-numbered column data lines are all single-color sub-pixels with the same color.
In other embodiments of the present invention, the gate driving circuit drives the pixels in a single-side driving manner or in a double-side driving manner. That is, the gate driving circuit may be disposed on only one side of the display panel, that is, on the same side of the pixel, and the area occupied by the gate driving circuit can be saved by the single-side driving manner, so that the frame occupation is reduced; the gate driving circuit can also be symmetrically arranged on two sides of the display panel, namely on two sides of the pixel, and the bilateral driving mode can ensure the stability of the driving voltage and ensure the display quality.
In short, in the embodiment of the invention, interlaced scanning is realized by respectively driving and controlling the pixels in the odd lines and the pixels in the even lines, and 2 times of high-frequency refreshing can be realized on the premise of not increasing the driving difficulty; under the condition that the display panel adopts SPR pixel arrangement, frequent switching of the voltage of the data line can be avoided, and therefore power consumption of the data line is effectively reduced.
