Description
Technical Field
The application belongs to the technical field of coral reef protection, and more specifically relates to a coral reef protection structure capable of absorbing solar radiation.
Background
The coral reef is a structure formed by calcium carbonate deposition under the common biological action of reef-building coral, reef-attaching organisms and algae, is known as 'tropical rainforest in the ocean', provides a reproduction place for abundant and various marine organisms, and is also known as one of very sensitive ecological systems. First, coral reefs, like "kindergartens" of fish and other marine life, provide a vast area for these life to live in protecting the diversity of marine life. Secondly, coral reefs play an important role in protecting shorelines from sea wave erosion. Moreover, the coral reef can also promote the development of the tourism industry and create more additional values.
However, coral reef systems in most regions of the earth are facing the threat of whitening. Coral albinism means that the symbiotic algae supplying energy to the coral leave or die. If the albation is severe, the coral will eventually die due to lack of nutrient supply, which in turn leads to deterioration or even disappearance of the coral reef.
The large-scale coral albinism event is closely and inseparably connected with solar radiation. Excessive solar radiation can limit the growth of the coral, because strong light can inhibit photosynthesis of symbiotic algae, and when the solar radiation is too strong and lasts for a long time, the photosynthesis system of the symbiotic algae can be damaged, so that the coral can selectively remove part of the symbiotic algae in the body, and further whitening death of the coral can occur.
At present, the domestic solutions for the coral reef whitening problem mainly focus on aspects of coral transplantation, seawater acidity reduction, seawater temperature reduction and the like, and solar radiation which is an important factor influencing coral whitening is not researched too much. Therefore, it is necessary to supplement the strong correlation factor of solar radiation with a corresponding scheme to effectively alleviate or prevent coral reef whitening.
