Description

Side panel for drawer
Technical Field
The invention relates to a side panel for a drawer, the side panel comprising: a support profile on which the base of the drawer can be fixed, wherein the support profile extends substantially over the entire length of the base and has a vertical rod projecting upwards above the base; and a strip-shaped decorative element which extends substantially over the entire length of the support profile or between the covers arranged in the end regions on the support profile and which has an upper horizontal bar and a first, downwardly projecting vertical bar.
Background
EP 1614369 discloses a drawer frame in which two wall parts can be latched together by means of a mechanical latching connection. Wall parts are often provided with a surface coating and this coating may easily be damaged during assembly. Furthermore, the change in shape of the side panels may be small due to the wall members.
Disclosure of Invention
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a drawer side panel that is easy to install and avoids damage to the exterior surface.
This object is achieved by a side panel for a drawer having the features of claim 1.
According to the invention, the side panel comprises a support profile extending substantially over the entire length of the drawer base and a decorative element extending substantially over the entire length of the support profile or between the covers arranged in the end regions on the support profile, wherein the decorative element has an upper horizontal bar from which a first vertical bar and a second vertical bar extend downwards and the horizontal bars are supported indirectly or directly on the upper ends of the vertical bars of the support profile, and the decorative element at least partially laterally covers the support profile on the opposite side. Thus, in the case of side panels, the support profile, which may be made of a dimensionally stable material, such as sheet metal, is covered by a decorative element, which is integrally formed and has an inverted "U" -shaped profile in the upper region.
This means that the decorative element can be opened by pushing or shaking it for mounting on the support profile without having to pre-assemble two wall elements. Furthermore, there is no risk of damaging the upper side of the exterior of the decorative element during assembly.
Preferably, the decorative element can be fixed to the support profile by clamping. Additionally or alternatively, the decorative element may be fixed to the support profile by latching means, so that the decorative element is mechanically fixed to the support profile, thereby eliminating the need to use adhesives or other mechanical fastening means.
In a preferred design, the decorative element has a lower second horizontal bar which can be fixed to the lower horizontal bar of the support profile by means of clipping or latching. This makes assembly particularly simple by pivoting the support profile upwards, since first the upper section of the decorative element is fixed to the support profile and then the lower horizontal rod is fixed to the support profile in a clamping or latching manner.
In order to better fix the decorative element to the support profile, at least one filler element may be provided on the vertical rod of the support profile, wherein the decorative element rests at least partially on the filler element by means of the upper horizontal rod. One or more filler elements may be provided along the length of the support profile to support the horizontal rods of the decorative element.
In a variant of the side panel, the wall element (for example a plate-like wall element made of glass or wood) is supported on the upper side of the decorative element. The wall element may be held on the trim element by a front cover and a rear cover, wherein the covers each self-enclose or cover one end face of the wall element. This transfers the gravitational force to the decorative element and the support profile, while the cover provides lateral stability.
In a further design, adhesive means are provided for fixing the decorative element to the support profile, such as magnets or hook and loop fasteners (einem klettverseschluss). Due to the additional adhesive means, an improved fixation can be achieved, and furthermore a rattling noise can be avoided.
Preferably, the decorative element comprises a plurality of rods arranged at an angle, which in the assembled position form a closed cavity, optionally also together with the rods of the support profile. In this way, since the rods support each other, the area of the decorative element can be made more stable and therefore more rigid. The cavity is preferably formed at the upper end of the trim element.
In another design, the decorative element includes a bent tab that engages in a groove on the support profile. In this case, one or more tabs may engage in a single groove. The decorative element can be fixed against displacement in different directions relative to the support profile if the tab is bent around a bent edge, which is oriented at an angle to one another, preferably at a right angle. The tabs may be distributed along the length of the support profile.
The side panels are preferably mounted on drawers, especially for furniture. In this case, the drawer may have two identical decorative elements mounted in mirror image on opposite sides.

Detailed Description
The side panel 1 of the drawer is mounted on a plate-like base 2, wherein the side panel 1 and the base 2 have substantially the same length. The rear panel 3 is mounted on the chassis 2, while on the opposite side, the front panel (not shown) is fixed to fixing means arranged in the side panels 1. Furthermore, the other side panel 1 may be provided in mirror image fashion on a drawer on the opposite side of the base 2.
Figure 2 shows an exploded view of the side panel 1. The side panel 1 comprises a support section bar 4, for example made of bent metal sheet, which has, in the mounting position of the drawer, a horizontal bar 40 on which the chassis 2 can be placed. Furthermore, the support profile comprises a vertical bar 41 comprising, at least in some areas, a curved upper horizontal bar 42. A channel-shaped receiving channel 43 can be formed between the vertical rod 41 and the horizontal rod 40, optionally also only in the front section and the rear section of the support profile 4. A front bracket 44 and a rear bracket 45 are arranged on the trough-shaped receiving channel 43, on which front bracket 44 and rear bracket 45, for example, fastening means for the front and rear panels 3 are arranged.
In order to give the side panel 1 an attractive visual appearance, the support profile 4 is covered with a strip-shaped decorative element 5, which may be made of, for example, sheet metal or plastic. The decorative element 5 comprises: a first vertical rod 50, which is arranged outside the support section bar 4; an upper horizontal bar 51; and a second vertical bar 52, which is arranged inside the vertical bar 41 of the support profile. As a result, the decorative element has an inverted "U" profile in the upper region, which covers the support profile 4 on the opposite side, at least in some regions. The vertical rod 52 of the decorative element 5 can rest on the base 2 of the drawer.
For fixing the decorative element 5, a lower horizontal bar 53 is integrally formed on the vertical bar 50, which engages at least partially under the support profile 4. This allows the decorative element 5 to be fixed to the support section bar 4 in a clipped or latched manner by pivoting it. Optionally, additional adhesive means 46 may be provided, such as magnets or hook and loop fasteners or double sided adhesive tape. Such additional adhesive means 46 may also be used for sound insulation.
In the exemplary embodiment of fig. 2, the plate-like wall element 6 is supported on the decorative element 5 on the horizontal bar 51, which may be designed, for example, as a glass plate. In order to fix the glass pane between the two brackets 44 and 45, a front cover 7 is provided which has two vertical legs 70 and 71 and engages around one end face of the wall element 6. The cover 7 also has a lower horizontal bar 72 which engages under the receiving channel 43 and can be fixed there in a clamping or latching manner. Similarly, the wall element 6 is laterally supported in the rear region by a cover 8 having two vertical legs 80 and 81 which engage around one end face of the wall element 6 and are fixed to the bracket 45. The lower horizontal bar 82 here can likewise be fixed in a clamping or latching manner to the receiving channel 43. In the secured position on the receiving channel 43, the covers 7 and 8 are also aligned with their vertical legs 70 and 80 substantially flush with the surface of the vertical bar 50 on which the decorative element 5 is secured. Optionally, additional spacers 10 may be provided on the brackets 44 and 45 to align the wall elements 6. In the assembled position shown in fig. 1, a label 9 or a logo carrier of a mounting fixture is additionally provided on the cover 7 for identification purposes.
In fig. 1, the side panel 1 comprises a wall element 6 arranged on the unit consisting of the support profile 4 and the decorative element 5. Fig. 3 shows a modified side panel 1 'in which no wall element 6 is provided, but a decorative element 5' higher than the decorative element 5 described above is provided.
Fig. 4 shows a cross-sectional view of the side panel 1'. The side panel 1 ' comprises a support profile 4 ' with a vertical bar 41 ' on which a U-shaped channel 43 is adjoined and on which a horizontal bar 40 for supporting the bottom panel 2 can be formed. The plate-shaped bracket 6 ' is fixed to the vertical rod 41 ', which extends the vertical rod 41 ' upwards and on which rests the horizontal rods 51 ' of the decorative element 5 '. Two vertical legs 50 ' and 52 ' extend downwardly from the horizontal bar 51 ' at different lengths. The vertical rods 52 ' extend to the upper side of the drawer base 2, while the longer vertical rods 50 ' cover the side surfaces of the support profiles 4 '. Filler elements or spacers may optionally be provided on the bracket 6 'to prevent displacement of the decorative element 5'.
Fig. 5A and 5B show an exemplary embodiment of a side panel similar to fig. 4, in which only the decorative element 5 is fixed directly to the support profile 4 ' and not to the support profile 4 ' via an additional bracket 6 '. The decorative element 5 comprises two vertical rods 50 and 52 of unequal length, which are connected to each other via an upper horizontal rod. The vertical rod 50 may optionally be connected to the vertical rod 41 'of the support profile 4' via adhesive means 46.
Fig. 6 shows a modified side panel, in which the support section bar 4 is shown with the assembled chassis 2 resting on a horizontal bar 40. A trapezoidal end section 48 is formed on the vertical rod 41, which is offset inwardly with respect to the vertical rod 41. The filler element 30, which may be formed over the length of the support profile 4 or by a plurality of individual elements arranged distributed over the length of the support profile 4, is mounted on the trapezoidal end section 48, for example a plastic element. The filler element 30 comprises a flat upper surface on which rests a horizontal bar 51 of the decorative element 5. Furthermore, two vertical rods 50 and 52 enclose the filling element 30, wherein the vertical rod 52 has a curved end section 54 which is curved, for example by 180 °, wherein the curved portion rests on the upper surface of the base plate 2.
In order to fix the decorative element 5, the upper section is first folded about the filler element 30, in order then, via a pivoting movement, to pivot the lower horizontal bar 53 of the decorative element 5 below the horizontal bar on the channel-shaped receiving channel 43 and to fix it there, for example by clamping. The filler element 30 fixes the decorative element 5 in the transverse direction.
Fig. 7 shows a modified exemplary embodiment of the side panel, in which the filling element 30 is not provided as in fig. 6, and the vertical rod 41 extends vertically upward. In order to fix the decorative element 5 in the upper region to the support profile 4, the horizontal rod 51 rests on the end face of the vertical rod 41 of the support profile and is designed in a double-walled manner at the second vertical rod 52, with the inner vertical rod 54 resting against the outer vertical rod 52. An inner vertical bar 54 is integrally formed with an upper horizontal bar 55 which abuts the lower side of the horizontal bar 51 and terminates at an inclined end section 56 spaced from the vertical bar 50, forming a U-shaped receptacle between the two vertical bars 50 and 56 in which the upper end of the vertical bar 41 of the support profile 4 engages. Due to the double-walled design of the decorative element 5 in the upper region, a reinforcement is provided, so that assembly can also take place without a filler element. The base 2 is fixed between the bend at the vertical bar 52 of the support section bar 4 and the horizontal bar 40.
Fig. 8 shows another exemplary embodiment of the side panel, in which a modified filling element 32 is provided, which is inserted into the U-shaped section of the decorative element 5. The filling element 32 has a receptacle for supporting the upper end section 49 of the vertical rod 41 of the profile 4 and forms an upper bearing surface for the horizontal rod 51 of the decorative element 50. The ornamental element is joined, around the filling element 32, to an inner second vertical rod 52, bent by about 90 ° at an inclined end section 54' and resting on the upper side of the base 2. For assembly, the decorative element 5 is first mounted on the filler element 32 and the support profile 4, with a pivoting operation being carried out at the ends in order to pivot the lower horizontal bar 53 of the decorative element 5 below the horizontal bar of the channel-shaped receiving channel 43 and thus to secure the decorative element 5 in a clamping or latching manner.
Fig. 9 shows a modified exemplary embodiment of the side panel, wherein the vertical bars 41 of the support profile comprise inwardly inclined end sections 42 which are inserted into the trough-shaped receptacles of the modified filling elements 31. The filling element 31 forms a flat upper surface on which the horizontal bars 51 rest at least partially. Furthermore, the filler element 31 is closed into a U-shape by the vertical bars 50 and 52, and the decorative element 5 is again fixed in position by the lower horizontal bar 53, as described above.
Fig. 10 shows the lower region of the support profile and the decorative element 5, wherein a latching lever 59 is additionally formed on the horizontal bar 53. The latch lever 59 comprises an upwardly projecting protrusion which engages a latch receptacle formed on the underside of the channel-shaped receiving channel 43' of the support profile 4. This allows the decorative element 5 to be fixed to the support profile 4 not only in a clamping manner but also in a latching manner. The base 2 rests on the curved horizontal leg 40' of the support section bar 4.
Fig. 11 shows another exemplary embodiment of a side panel, in which the support profile 4 has a channel-shaped receiving channel 43 and a vertical bar 41. The ornamental element 5 is mounted on the vertical rod 41, said ornamental element having a vertical rod 50, the vertical rod 50 covering the vertical rod 41. Similar to fig. 7, a lower horizontal bar 53 is formed on the vertical bar 50, said lower horizontal bar at least partially covering the bottom of the channel-shaped receiving channel 43. In the upper region, the decorative element 5 comprises a horizontal bar 51 bent downwards at the ends and connected to a vertical bar 52. In the lower region, the vertical rod 52 is connected to a connecting rod 57 which connects the vertical rod 52 to the vertical rod 41 of the support profile 4. In this case, the decorative element 5 has an end section 58 which rests against the vertical rod 41, so that in the assembled position the decorative element 5 forms a closed cavity in which the individual rods bear against one another.
The vertical bar 41 of the support profile 4 is formed with a projection 39 which projects slightly outwards, so that the decorative element 5 rests against the projection 39 in the region of the vertical bar 50 and is spaced apart from the vertical bar 41 in the remaining region. Thus, in the area formed between the decorative element 5 and the support profile 4, it is possible to insert a seal or insulating material, such as an adhesive, foam or adhesive tape.
In fig. 12, the support profile and the decorative element 5 are shown before assembly. The support section bar 4 comprises a horizontal bar 40 and a vertical bar 41, between which horizontal bar 40 and vertical bar 41 a channel-shaped receiving channel 43 is formed. The base 38 of the channel-shaped receiving channel 43 has several openings 37 distributed over the length of the support profile 4 and used for fixing the decorative element 5. Furthermore, on the vertical rod 41, a projection 39 is shown which projects outwards.
According to one of the exemplary embodiments of fig. 7 to 11, the decorative element 5 comprises a closed vertical rod 50 and may be formed in an upper region. The lower horizontal bar 53 is used to attach the decorative element 5 to the support profile 4. For this purpose, a plurality of bent tabs 60 and 61 are provided on the decorative element 5, which can be inserted into the openings 37.
In fig. 13, the decorative element 5 is shown in an assembled position on the support profile 4. It can be seen that the tab 60 engages in the opening 37, wherein the tab 16 has a curved edge oriented perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the decorative element 5 and the tab 61 has a curved edge oriented parallel to the longitudinal direction of the decorative element 5. In this way, the decorative element 5 can be fixed against displacements in different directions with respect to the support profile 4.
The exemplary embodiments shown can also be combined with each other. For example, a filler element may also be provided in fig. 4 and 5. Furthermore, in addition to the filling elements 30,31 and 32, adhesive elements, such as adhesive material strips, films, hook-and-loop fasteners or magnets, can also be provided on the support profile.
