At present, the number of pets in China is increased every year, the quality requirement of pet food is stricter, and the pet owner can select the pet food more carefully. As a new industry, the demand of pet food is gradually rising, and the key point of the research of the pet food is the nutrition collocation and whether the digestibility of the gastrointestinal tract of the pet can be improved. Along with the gradual increase and perfection of the pet food market, the pet food market is more and more valued by people, and many scientific researchers are developing new pet food, so that the development of the pet food has considerable prospects.
At present, domestic pets mainly comprise dogs and cats, and the digestion processes of the dogs and the cats are obviously different, wherein the dogs are omnivores and the cats are carnivores. However, they also have some similar properties, such as lack of salivary amylase and short gastrointestinal tract which cannot synthesize vitamin D.
At present, pet feed on the market is mainly divided into main feed, auxiliary feed, health care feed and the like. Wherein the main feed is required to have good palatability, easy preservation and easy carrying. The auxiliary feed is feed with single nutrient and bright color. Its main function is to regulate appetite, some are for animals to grind teeth or lick plates.
