Description

Package for cigarettes and method for manufacturing same
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a package for cigarettes or other tobacco products according to the preamble of claim 1. The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing a package or a cut-out as part of a package.
Background
It is known to provide printed carriers with information, logos, decorations, etc., provided for the consumer in cigarette packs (also in the form of sealed packs, i.e. with an inner package made of a film sealed against aroma) in an outer package, in particular in the form of a flip-top box. The printed support, i.e. the coupon, is arranged such that the corresponding cut-out is exposed when the cigarette pack is first opened, so that the consumer can know this information before removing the cigarettes.
In the cigarette package according to WO 2017/072606 a1, the printed carrier or coupon is in the initial position between the inner package and the outer package. The closure flap or closure label of the inner package is permanently connected to the lid of the outer package, which is designed as a flip-top box. When the lid is opened, the closure flap is separated from the inner package and the coupon is pulled out of the initial position at the same time. The coupon is thus initially located on the inside of the closure tab.
Disclosure of Invention
The invention relates to a cigarette pack comprising an inner pack (preferably designed as a sealed pack) in an outer pack (preferably designed as a flip-top box), said inner pack having an opening label as an opening aid and having a printed carrier or coupon. The object to be solved is to configure and arrange the coupon such that the consumer information of the coupon is reliably known when the package is initially used. In addition, the difficulty of the package manufacturing method should not be increased by attaching a coupon.
In order to solve this task, the package according to the invention is characterized by the features of claim 1.
The core idea is as follows: the coupon is positioned directly on the exposed outer side of the opening label and is in particular connected to the opening label in such a way that the coupon can be removed during (first) opening of the inner package or in connection with the opening process. The arrangement is such that the opening process of the inner package draws the attention of the consumer to the coupon or the area provided with the printed design.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the coupon extends with one partial leg, i.e. the top partial leg, in the region of the inner top wall of the inner package and with the connected partial leg, i.e. the front partial leg, in the region of the inner front wall, respectively in the case of a (partially) covered opening label. Alternatively, the front leg can extend in the region of the inner front wall over a partial region of the opening tab actuating leg or be configured such that this leg of the opening tab together with the gripping tab is completely covered. The coupon is expediently provided with a (glue-free) gripping tab or gripping strip on the free edge, preferably as a continuous strip over the entire width of the rectangular coupon.
Another embodiment is: a multi-ply coupon (with accordion folds or with detachably connected plies) is arranged on the outside of the opening label, more precisely in the region of the inner top wall or inner front wall. The layers of the multi-layer coupon provided with the grasping tips can be unfolded or sequentially torn off.
Other embodiments of the invention work as follows: the coupon is pulled out of the initial position when the grip strip is operated (by hand), i.e. by lifting the opening tab.
According to another embodiment, the coupon is configured as a part of an opening label, which is grasped simultaneously by grasping the grasping tongue or the grasping strip when handling the coupon. The coupon detachably fixed to the leg of the opening tag can be detached, in particular by means of a perforated connection.
One particular aspect of the present invention is a method of manufacture. The trimmings for opening the labels are applied positionally accurately to the (film) web for making the inner package trimmings. According to the invention, this is done: the coupon is positionally accurately placed on the opening label after the opening label is applied to the film web. The cut-out is then produced by separating the film webs.
Alternatively, this can be done: the continuous film web is folded around the successive cigarette groups (usually with inner sheathes) while forming a tubular structure and the coupons are subsequently placed.

Detailed Description
The package examples shown in the figures relate to cigarette packages configured as sealed packages. The outer package 10 is configured as a clamshell box having a box portion 11 and a lid 12. A collar 13 is arranged in the box part, which collar protrudes with a partial area over the box part 11. The box portion 11 constitutes a box front wall 14, a box rear wall 15 and narrow, upright box side walls 16. Accordingly, the lid 12 has a lid front wall 17, a lid rear wall 18 and lid side walls 19.
The collar 13 with the collar front wall 20 and the collar-side lamination 21 is specially constructed in the following manner: an enlarged recess 22 is formed on the front side, i.e. in the region of the collar front wall 20, and extends up to the region of the box front wall 14, i.e. up to below the box closure edge 23.
The outer package 10 is currently configured as a round-edged pack, i.e. with an upright round edge 24, which is quarter-round in cross section to accommodate the size of the cigarettes. In the region of the collar 13, the front recess 22 is dimensioned such that at least a part of the cross section of the round edge 24 remains.
An inner package 25 is provided as package contents in the outer package 10 configured in the above or other manner. The substantially rectangular parallelepiped inner pack largely fills the internal space of the outer package 10.
The inner package 25 is a film package, preferably a sealed package made of a moisture-proof and aroma-tight film. The film cut completely encloses the pack contents, the group 26 of cigarettes, with the formation of an inner front wall 27, an inner rear wall 28 and an inner side wall 29. The inner top wall 30 is preferably constructed as a non-laminated, continuous closure. A seal or sealing seam (not shown) is preferably located in the region of the inner side wall 29 and in the region of the inner rear wall 28.
The focus of the innovation is on the inner package 25 and in particular its opening aid. The opening aid essentially comprises a closure flap or opening label 31 which is made from a separate cut-out and is dimensioned and arranged such that the first leg portion (i.e. the covering leg portion 32) extends in the region of the inner top wall 30 of the inner wrapper 25. On the front side, one leg, namely the operating leg 33, is connected to the inner front wall 27. Preferably, the opening tab 31 also extends in the region of the inner rear wall 28, i.e. with a fixed leg 34 fixed thereto.
The opening label 31 is preferably configured such that the cover legs 32 completely cover the inner top wall 30 while matching the contour of the package (round, octagonal or rectangular). When the opening label 31 is manipulated to expose the removal opening 35 of the inner package 25, a central strip of narrower width defined by a perforation line 36, approximately the width of the manipulation leg 33, is torn from the wider covering leg 32 (fig. 14, 15). In order to form the removal opening 35, the lid flap 37 is here torn off from the film of the inner package 25 on the basis of the weakening line, thereby forming the removal opening 35. The opening label 31 is attached to the inner package 25 by means of a repeatedly acting adhesive so that it can be removed from the inner package and returned to the closed position. Alternatively, the removal opening 35 can be prefabricated by separating the cover flaps 37 during the production of the film blanks for the inner package 25. In this case, the opening label 31 is free of adhesive in the area of the removal opening 35.
The inner package 25 is provided with an information or data carrier, which is referred to below as coupon 38. It is made of paper or film and is provided with a printed design, which may be information, but also advertising or decoration, on one or both sides. The coupon 38 is arranged on the inner package 25 in such a way that it can be associated with or interact with the (first) opening of the inner package 25 by means of the opening label 31. For this purpose, the coupon 38 is arranged directly or indirectly on the opening label 31, in particular connected thereto by adhesive bonding.
In the exemplary embodiment according to fig. 1 to 3 and fig. 5 and 6, the coupon 38 is arranged on the outside of the opening label 31 and is preferably connected thereto by means of a detachable adhesive bond. The arrangement is such that the coupon 38 can be peeled off the opening label 31 before the opening label 31 is operated to release the take-out opening 35. Based on the functional association between the opening label 31 and the coupon 38, the opening label 31 is preferably opened manually, more precisely by grasping the adhesive-free gripping tab 39 on the free end of the opening label 31, in particular on the transverse edge of the operating leg 33 on the inner front wall 27.
The functional association between opening aid or opening tag 31 on the one hand and coupon 38 on the other hand can be realized in different ways. In the important embodiment according to fig. 1, 3 and 5, an attachment sheet 38 is provided on the exposed outer side of the opening label 31, which in the initial position extends over the entire width or depth of the inner top wall 30 or of the covering leg 32 of the opening label 31. The respective top leg 40 is rectangular in configuration and preferably extends as far as the rear packaging edge of the inner package 25, i.e. the transversely oriented packaging edge between the inner rear wall 28 and the inner top wall 30. The associated front leg 41 is assigned to the inner front wall 27 and in the initial position (fig. 1) completely covers the operating leg 33 of the opening tab 31, preferably also the gripping tongue 39. The cutout for the coupon 38 thus constructed preferably has a rectangular elongated shape.
The coupon 38 is provided on the outside, in particular in the region of the top leg 40, with informative text, decorative elements or brand-like logos. The width of the coupon 38 is selected such that the front leg 41 is located completely, in particular at a distance from the edge, within the recess 22 of the collar front wall 20. Preferably, on the free edge of the front leg segment 41, a transversely oriented gripping strip 42 is provided, which is also located in the recess 22, immediately above the box closing edge 23 in the present case. The coupon 38 can be grasped (by hand) by means of the grip strip 42 and removed with the release of the opening label 31 (fig. 3).
The coupon 38 is fixed to the opening label 31 or the inner package 25 by means of a detachable glued connection, in particular by means of a permanently tacky glue. The gluing zone is selected according to location and function. In the embodiment of fig. 1, 3 and 5, the strips of glue 43, 44 are preferably arranged on the inside of the coupon 38 at a large distance from each other. The front strip 43 is arranged adjacent to the free rear edge of the coupon 38, i.e. at the free edge of the top leg portion 40. Another strip of glue 44 is currently provided adjacent to the grip bar 42. The coupon 38 can be completely removed from the inner package 25 by grasping the grip strip 42, separating the glued connections 43, 44, thereby preferably completely exposing the opening label 31. The coupon 38 is provided with a printed pattern on the outside, i.e. in the region of the legs 40 and/or 41, and preferably also on the inside, which is exposed when the coupon 38 is removed.
The package according to fig. 2, 6 differs from the above-described embodiment in the dimensions of the coupon 38. The coupon is provided with a shortened front leg 41 in the area of the inner front wall 27, which thus covers the operating leg 33 of the opening label 31 only partially or largely. The gripping tab 39 of the opening label 31 is located outside the area of the coupon 38 and can therefore be gripped directly.
The package according to fig. 4 differs from the above-described packages in particular with regard to the arrangement and construction of the coupon 38. These coupons are constructed in multiple layers. A preferred embodiment is made from a strip-shaped cut which is folded concertina-like, i.e. has a Leporello structure. One leg is fixed to the opening label 31, more precisely to the covering leg 32 in the region of the inner top wall 30 and/or to the actuating leg 33, by means of a detachable glue. The outermost layer, when configured as a Leporello, is provided with a tip 45 that allows manual deployment of the coupon 38. Alternatively, the coupon can also be made of multiple layers (paper) which are joined into a block by lateral gluing. The layers are removed sequentially by means of a tip 45 preferably on each sheet. The legs of the folded coupon 38 and the layers or sheets are provided with printed graphics.
In an alternative embodiment corresponding to the packaging, the coupon 38 can be removed from the initial position only or mainly by mechanical coupling with the opening tag 31. An example of this technique is shown in fig. 7-9.
In this example, the opening tag 31 is preferably constructed in the manner already described. The coupon 38 is configured as a cut-out which is preferably positioned in the packaging without a glued connection, or the coupon 38 is positioned only in the region of the inner front wall 27, i.e. in the front region of the packaging. This embodiment is shown in solid lines in fig. 7, as well as in fig. 8 and 9. Alternatively, coupon 38 can be given a top leg 40 (shown in phantom) extending in the area of inner top wall 30.
The coupon 38 is provided with an opening 46. The opening is located in the area of the gripping tab 39 of the opening label 31. The elongated oval opening 46 is positioned such that the gripping tab 39 is located in the initial position, i.e. in the area of the opening 46 before the package is started to be used, more precisely such that the consumer can (by hand) grasp the gripping tab with the lid 12 open. The association is selected such that, when the opening tab 31 is actuated, the coupon 38 is pulled out of the initial position (fig. 8), i.e. out of the position between the box front wall 14 or the collar front wall 20 on the one hand and the inner package 25, i.e. the inner front wall 27, on the other hand, by means of the grip tab 39. The coupon 38 may be provided with a corresponding printed design on the front and/or back. The opening 46 is made by punching or is partially punched in correspondence with fig. 9 and a tongue corresponding to the opening 46 is folded onto the back of the coupon 38.
In the production of the inner package 25, in particular according to the embodiment of fig. 7 to 9, the correct position of the coupon 38 is monitored and checked by means of sensors and/or by means of the camera 47. In particular, it is detected whether the grip tab 39, which can be gripped by the consumer, is located in the opening 46. The coupon 38 can be positioned in the position shown without (gluing) connection to the inner package 25 or to the opening label 31. Alternatively, a detachable glue connection to the inner package 25 or the opening label 31 may be provided.
The package according to fig. 10, 11 is in turn constructed according to the design: the coupon 38 must be grasped and removed in order to access the opening aid of the opening label 31 or inner package 25. In addition, in this embodiment the coupon 38 provides a large free surface for printing graphics.
The coupon 38 is preferably made of a one-piece strip-like cut made of paper, thin film or the like. The coupon 38 extends at least in the region of the inner front wall 27. In addition, a top leg 40 may be provided that extends across the width or depth of the inner top wall 30 or the cover leg 32 of the opening label 31. Coupon 38 may be positioned between inner wrapper 25 and collar front wall 20 without being connected to inner wrapper 25 and/or opening label 31. However, a detachable glued connection can also be provided, in particular a strip of glue 43 (fig. 10) can be provided on the top-side transverse edge of the coupon 38.
The coupon 38 is provided with a gripping element, which is currently formed by a gripping strip 42 configured as part of the coupon 38. The gripping strip is configured as an outwardly directed fold of the coupon 38, i.e., double-ply. The grip strip 42 is located in the region of the inner front wall 27 outside the box portion 11, i.e. immediately above the box closing edge 23. The grip strip 42 is preferably downwardly oriented by molding. When the lid 12 of the outer package 10 is opened, the grip strip 42 is exposed and can be grasped by the consumer in order to pull out the coupon 38. In the depicted embodiment, the opening tag 31 is located below the coupon 38.
Based on the arrangement and configuration of the (double) grip strip 42, a special opening technique, i.e. similar to EP 1113971B 1, can be used in this embodiment. In which the lid 12 participates when the package is (first) opened. The free edge of the grip strip 42 is gripped by a lid inner laminate of the lid 12 (with corresponding design details), so that the coupon 38 is pulled out of the anchor or box portion 11 by gripping the grip strip 42 when opening the lid 12.
An advantageous embodiment of the package in terms of construction and operation is shown in fig. 12 to 15. The opening tab 31 of the inner package 25 is preferably constructed and arranged in a conventional manner. An attachment ticket 38 is provided on the free edge of the opening tab 31 in the region of the inner front wall 27, i.e. on the free edge of the operating leg 33. In the initial position (fig. 12, 13) corresponding to the packaging, the coupon 38 rests against the outer side of the actuating leg 33 and is preferably connected thereto by a (detachable) glue, preferably by two glue strips 48 arranged at a distance from one another. Furthermore, the coupon 38 is preferably connected directly to the cutout of the opening label 31, more precisely by means of a separation line or perforation line 49. The coupon 38 is provided with a freely projecting gripping edge 50, which is externally shaped to facilitate gripping and is in any case exposed.
At the start of use of the package, the gripping edge 50 is grasped and by means of it the unit comprising the coupon 38 and the opening tag 31 is pulled into the open position (fig. 14). The coupon 38 can then be separated from the opening label 31 by the perforated line 49. Thus leaving the gripping tongue 39 as an edge strip for opening the label 31. In this embodiment coupon 38 may generally correspond to the size and shape of operative leg 33. But coupon 38 may also extend into inner top wall 30 and preferably abut against cover leg 32 by a glued connection.
Another special feature can be realized in all embodiments: when applying the permanently tacky glue compound on the outside of the opening label 31, more precisely in the region of the operating leg 33, the transverse strip of glue applied to its free transverse edge causes a connection with the inside of the lid 12 or the lid front wall 17. After removal of the coupon, the adhesive glue on the outer side of the opening label 31 or the operating leg 33 is exposed, so that the operating leg 33 is connected with the lid front wall 17 when the lid 12 is closed again. Thus, when opened again, the opening tab 31 is pulled into the open position by the lid 12.
The innovation is particular to the manufacturing technique of the inner package or the cut piece used to form the inner package 25. In a first working step, the cut for opening the label 31 is applied to the continuous web of film 51 in a relative position to the packages, i.e. the cut is pressed with the side having the adhesive onto the web of film 51 (fig. 16). The film web 51 is subsequently formed continuously around a row of successively successive units 52 of groups of cigarettes and an inner collar partially surrounding the groups of cigarettes, forming a hose-like structure. The film web 51 and the unit 52 are controlled in the conveyor technology in such a way that the opening label 31 is located in the correct position corresponding to the package by the wrapping process. The foil tube is completed on the underside by heat-sealing the tube edges with the formation of a corresponding sealing seam. In a downstream separating and sealing station, not shown, the inner package 25 is separated in turn from the structure consisting of the film sleeve and the unit 52.
Particular to the application of the coupon 38. The film web 51 is assigned a device for applying the cut pieces to the film web 51, namely a first labeling device 53 and a subsequent second labeling device 54. The first labeling device 53 is used to supply and place the opening labels 31 onto the film web 51, more precisely in the region of the sharp-edged deflection 55 of the carrier web 56. The transfer takes place in the region of the support roller 57 below the film web 51.
Next acting is a labeler 54. The labeling machine transports the coupon 38 in the present embodiment according to fig. 3 and positions it on the outside of the opening label 31. The film web 51 is then supplied to the wrapping area in order to produce the inner package 25. The precise positioning of the trim piece on the film web 51 is controlled by an (opto-electronic) sensor 58 which responds when a printed mark 59 (also including the printed mark on the opening label 31) is scanned.
Fig. 17 shows an alternative to the technique according to fig. 16. The coupon 38, which is currently configured according to fig. 4 as a multilayer coupon, is placed on the tubular film web 51, i.e. the opening label 31, which has been positioned in correspondence with the package. The coupon 38 is applied by a rotating transfer mechanism by a transfer roller 60, which is positioned stationary and rotationally above the film web 51, more precisely in the region of the opening label 31 provided on the edge side. The relative positions are such that the transfer rollers 60, preferably provided with a suction mechanism for the coupons 38, respectively press the coupons 38 located in the lower position onto the opening label 31.
In this example, a film web 51 is folded in a hose-like manner around a row of successive units 52 according to known methods and forms a hose seam extending in the longitudinal direction on the underside. In order to shape the film web 51 supplied unfolded accordingly, in particular shaping shoulders of known construction type can be used. It is important for the current innovation that the coupon 38 is properly placed on the inner package 25 or on the opening label 31 after the forming process, i.e. after the forming of the shoulder, whereby the forming process of the film web 51 does not affect the correct setting of the coupon 38.
Fig. 17 shows another special feature in that: the film web 51 is provided with a take-out opening 35 formed by pre-punching in the region of the standing supply branch. Furthermore, in the case shown, an opening label 31 is provided on the outside of the film web 51 in the region of the removal opening 35. The coupon 38, which is now of multilayer design according to fig. 4, is fed to the film web 51 by a transfer mechanism, i.e. a transfer roller 61, and is applied to the opening label 31 in the region of the removal opening 35 via the exposed side of the removal opening and is preferably fixed by glue. In this embodiment, the coupon 38 with the smaller outer dimension can therefore be arranged on the inner side of the opening label 31, i.e. on the side facing the inner package 25. The coupon 38 is preferably completely covered by the opening label 31. The coupon 38 is accessible to the consumer only by operating to open the label 31.
The techniques described in connection with fig. 16 and 17 may similarly be used in other forms of opening labels 31 and/or coupons 38. The opening label 31 and the coupon 38 can also be applied sequentially to the film web 51 by a single, common labelling device. The labeling machine is supplied with the cuts for the opening labels 31 and the coupons 38 by a common carrier web, on which the relative cuts are coordinated in terms of relative position in order to be positionally accurately transferred to the film web, to be precise, the coupons 38 are placed on the previously transferred opening labels 31.
As a further alternative, a technique can be used in which the opening label 31 and the coupon 38 are connected to one another as separate cut pieces before being placed on the package or inner package 25, so that the unit consisting of the opening label 31 and the coupon 38 is placed by means of one labeler 53, 54 on the film web 51 or on the hose-like formed film web 51 or on the finished inner package 25.
The basic idea of combining the functions of a coupon (for information, etc.) with an opening aid for the package can also be advantageously implemented in standard cigarette packages, i.e. packages with an inner liner made of tinfoil, paper or the like and a conventional tear-off closure (flap). In this package design, the coupon is attached (either detachably or permanently) to the closure. The coupon can be removed from the lid by grasping and manipulating the coupon or the unit consisting of the lid and the coupon can be separated from the packet.
