"Jizi439" (Jizihei No. 1) for reducing blood sugar is a new black wheat variety with high added value, which is obtained by hybridizing Australian black wheat 14928 with 95-5031 at the institute of grain and oil crops of academy of agriculture and forestry, Hebei province, selecting short 8, and then hybridizing with Loxon No. 1. The variety is the first new variety of chromium-rich triticale examined by Hebei province, and the successful breeding of the variety fills the blank of the chromium-rich triticale in China and even in the world.
1. Biological Properties
The variety belongs to semiwinterness, the growth period is about 239 days, and the variety is earlier than the ligusticum 8901 by 1 day. The seedlings are semi-creeping, the leaves are green, and the seedlings grow strongly. Moderate cold resistance. The tillering force is general, the ear forming rate is high, and the ear layer is tidy. The adult plant is compact. The plant height is about 70 cm. The ears are square, the awns are long, the shells are purple, the grain color is dark purple, the grains are hard, and the plumpness of the grains is 2-3 grades. The number of grains per ear is 33, the weight of thousand grains is 36.6-40 g, and the volume weight is 779.0 g/l. The variety has strong lodging resistance, moderate disease resistance and is sensitive to powdery mildew and leaf blight.
2. Performance of yield

The protein content of the variety is 15.99-16.21% by the detection of the variety quality detection center in Hebei province; in 2004, the content of magnesium is 1424.0mg/kg, the content of selenium is 81.0-203.95 ug/kg, and the content of trivalent organic chromium is 1.916mg/kg, which are detected by grain quality supervision and detection center of Ministry of agriculture; the amylose content of the variety is 31 percent and is about 50 percent higher than that of common wheat by the big detection in Hebei in 2009.
4. Research on health value
Proved by research of Song Guang Yao universities in the national Hospital of Hebei province:
1) the sugar production index (GI) of the Ji purple 439 flour is 74.66 which is reduced by 19.7 percent compared with that of white wheat flour.
2) Ji Zi 439 taken by diabetic patients has obvious effect of controlling blood sugar rise.
