The invention provides a cooking appliance and a cooking method. The cooking appliance comprises an edible material mounting device, a recognition device, a control device and an interaction device. The food material mounting device is used for mounting food materials; the identification device is configured to identify information of the food material; the control device is configured to generate a cooking list related to the food materials according to the identification result of the identification device; the interactive device is configured to present the cooking list to the user for selection among the cooking lists by the user. The control means is further configured to enable cooking control based on the final selection result of the user. The cooking appliance carries out corresponding cooking operation according to the selection of a customer, and food with better quality can be cooked. For this reason, the applicant has conceived that the problem of the deterioration of food materials due to a long-term reservation can be solved by enclosing the pre-treated food materials such as rice, beans, etc. in a package and opening the package when the reservation time is reached and the cooking is to be performed, so that the food materials fall into the cooking cavity of the cooking appliance for cooking.
Existing cooking appliances that cook food items enclosed in capsules typically have multiple cooking modes and food item categories that are selectable by the user.
