Evaluation criteria for eyelid margin cleanliness: scales and secretions at the eyelid margin and the root of the eyelashes which are visible under the slit lamp are judged to be unclean, and the scales and the secretions which are not visible are judged to be clean.
According to the clinical tests, the eye patch prepared from the composition for treating the demodex blepharitis can effectively relieve the clinical symptoms of the demodex blepharitis, reduce the parasitic number of the demodex at the eyes, has small stimulation to the eyes and no adverse reaction, and is a safe and effective method for treating the demodex blepharitis.
Typical case
Case one
The female, 65 years old, is treated with photophobia and lacrimation for 2 weeks in both eyes. Ophthalmic examination: redness of both eyelid margins with scales, sleeveless changes in the base of eyelashes, and conjunctival congestion. Demodex mite count: 6/4. After the eye patch is used for treatment for 2 months, the patient feels photophobia and lacrimation are obviously improved. The redness of the double eyelid margin is reduced and the eyelid margin is cleaned. Demodex mite count: 0/4.
Case two
The patient is a female, aged 58 years old, and is treated for 1 month due to itching of the eyelids. Ophthalmic examination: redness and wrinkles of eyelid skin of both eyes with scales, changes in the shape of sleeves at the root of eyelashes, and conjunctival congestion. Demodex mite count: 8/4. The eye patch is used for the treatment of the eye after 2 months, and the eyelid of the patient is not itchy. The eyes are not red and swollen, and the eyelid margin is clean. Demodex mite count: 0/4.
Case three
The male, 31 years old, will be treated with "dry eyes and burning sensation for more than half a year". Ophthalmic examination: redness with scales of both eyelid margins, sleevelike changes in the base of eyelashes, conjunctival hyperemia, BUT (tear film rupture time) < 5S, detachment of corneal punctate epithelium. Demodex mite count: 4/4. After the eye patch is used for treatment for 2 months, the patient has better dry eyes without burning sensation. The double lid margins are cleaned. Demodex mite count: 0/4.
Although the invention has been described in detail above with reference to a general description and specific examples, it will be apparent to one skilled in the art that modifications or improvements may be made thereto based on the invention. Accordingly, such modifications and improvements are intended to be within the scope of the invention as claimed.

Claims (3)

1. The eye patch for treating demodex blepharitis is characterized by being prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: the eye patch is composed of the following raw materials in parts by weight: tea tree essential oil 6%, wormwood 1%, agastache 1%, pine needle 1%, borneol 0.1%, sodium hyaluronate 0.5% and water 90.4%;
the eye patch for treating demodex blepharitis is prepared by the following steps:
weighing the raw materials in parts by weight for later use;
air drying folium Artemisiae Argyi, folium Pini, and herba Agastaches, pulverizing, soaking in 70-80% ethanol for 12-24 hr, extracting at 50-70 deg.C under reflux, and recovering under reduced pressure to obtain Chinese medicinal extract;
mixing the traditional Chinese medicine extract with tea tree essential oil, borneol, sodium hyaluronate and water, soaking the mixture into irradiated and sterilized non-woven fabric, and packaging and storing to obtain the eye patch.
2. The eye patch according to claim 1, wherein the tea tree essential oil is natural medical grade material approved by FDA.
3. The eye patch according to claim 1, wherein the average radiation dose for radiation sterilization is 3 to 10 KGy.
