Description
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a household appliance having a user interface for visualizing control information and for inputting instructions for controlling the operation of the household appliance.
Generally, the present invention relates to a home appliance including:
-a housing confining a treatment seat adapted to receive and/or support one or more household products (linen, crockery, food, furniture surfaces, textiles) in a treatment position to subject it to a desired treatment;
-one or more treatment devices arranged within the housing, the treatment devices being actuatable to perform one or more specific treatments in a treatment position;
-one or more treatment detector devices arranged within the housing and configured to detect one or more values of a treatment parameter of a treatment to which the household product is subjected in the treatment position;
-optionally, one or more anomaly detectors arranged within the housing and configured to detect one or more operational anomalies of the household appliance;
an electronic control system arranged in the housing and in signal connection with the processing means and the processing detector, and configured to control the processing means according to the processing program and according to the values detected by the processing detector;
a user interface in signal connection with the electronic control system to allow a user to select (parameters of) a treatment program of the household product and for visualizing the selected and/or running parameters of the treatment program.
Background
In prior art household appliances, the user interface is formed in one or more fixed positions of the casing or of the treatment seat (refrigerator) and comprises one or more buttons or knobs or capacitive touch sensors, and possibly a visual indicator, such as a warning light or a liquid crystal display (TFT) or an OLED.
The user interfaces of household appliances of the prior art are satisfactory when the development of strategies and processing parameters, OSD, communication data and electronic controls and the development of processing devices, the evolution of the design of the appliance casing, and the average service life of the appliance are carried out synchronously.
In the current state of the art, household product processing strategies, electronic control and data communication technologies, the amount of processing data and parameters available and possible for controlling household appliances, and the aesthetic design of household appliance housings are rapidly evolving and, frequently, one conflicts with or "lags" the other.
One reason for dissatisfaction with known household appliances is the inability to provide a user interface that is large enough and extends to display large amounts of process control information without causing spatial interference with other components of the household appliance.
Another reason for dissatisfaction with known household appliances is the conflict between the need for a flat and extended housing surface to position the liquid crystal display (TFT) or OLED and the desire for innovative designs for appliances with curved surfaces and freely definable color and surface structure.
Another reason for dissatisfaction with the known household appliances is the conflict between the need to have very large openings and access doors or ports (the relatively small outer dimensions being the same) in order to fit the household products into the household appliance and the need to provide free space for mounting the user interface, usually on the same front wall of the appliance.
Another reason for dissatisfaction with the known household appliances is that the specific concept of the user interface must now be designed in close connection with the specific items of the household appliance and its external design, making it difficult to transfer the new concept of the user interface to the pre-existing household appliance, which one wishes to maintain or be another type of household appliance with a different external shape.
Disclosure of Invention
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a household appliance with a user interface having features that avoid at least some of the disadvantages of the prior art.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an appliance with a user interface having features that can be easily adapted to the household appliance by means of a non-continuous surface, for example in the presence of moving parts (access ports, doors, detergent drawers) and/or non-planar parts, and that can be applied and transferred between housings with different aesthetic designs, with versatility in terms of display size, information to be visualized and input instructions to be allowed.
These objects and others are achieved by a household appliance having a user interface. The household appliance comprises: a housing having an outer wall forming an outer surface of the household appliance; a treatment receptacle formed in or on the housing and adapted to receive or support a household product in a treatment position; at least one treatment device arranged within the housing and causing a treatment to be performed at the treatment location and subjecting the household product to the treatment; at least one process detector disposed at least partially within the housing and configured to detect a value of a process parameter of the process performed by the processing device; optionally, at least one anomaly detector disposed at least partially within the housing and configured to detect a magnitude indicative of an operational anomaly of the household appliance; an electronic control system arranged in the housing and in signal connection with the processing device and the processing detector, and configured to control the processing device in accordance with a processing program and in accordance with values detected by the processing detector; a user interface in signal communication with the electronic control system, the user interface comprising: instruction insertion means for inputting an instruction for selecting a parameter of the processing program and for inputting an instruction for executing the processing program; and a display device visualizing selectable parameters of the treatment program and visualizing treatment parameters during implementation of the treatment program, wherein the display device comprises at least one video projector mounted to the household appliance at the outer wall and configured to perform visualization by means of a process of light projection on a display area of the outer surface of the housing, and wherein the instruction insertion device comprises at least one instruction input sensor adapted to detect a movement of a user's hand at the display area and to generate a corresponding hand movement signal, wherein the electronic control system: processing the hand movement signal and generating a user instruction signal; setting parameters of the processing program according to the generated user instruction signal; commanding display by means of the video projector according to the generated user instruction signal.
According to one aspect of the invention, the display means of the user interface comprise at least one video projector mounted at its outer wall on the household appliance and configured to perform visualization by means of the process of light projection on the display area of the outer surface of the casing.
The visualization performed by means of light projection allows the user interface to have a display area that is large enough and extended to visualize a large amount of process control information, without any spatial interference to the various components forming the outer surface of the household appliance.
The visualization performed by means of light projection also allows visualization on interrupted surfaces or surfaces consisting of areas of different structure and/or color as well as on non-planar surfaces and thus allows innovative aesthetic designs of household appliances with curved surfaces and freely definable colors and surface structures.
The visualization performed by means of light projection also allows very large openings and access doors or ports for the treatment of the load of household products, without the need to provide additional space dedicated to the visualization, which is possible at least partially on the same access door (for example in the case of ovens, refrigerators, dry cleaners or dishwashers/dryers) or even on the treatment seat (for example in the case of cooking tables or ironing boards) if the latter forms part of the outer surface of the casing.
The video projector may be at least partially concealed by the housing and its dimensions are not dependent on the size or direction of the light projection performed. This facilitates the transfer of user interface concepts between home appliances having different exterior designs.
According to another aspect of the invention, the user command insertion means comprise at least one command input sensor adapted to detect the positioning and/or movement of the user's hand at the display area, and the electronic control system comprises association means which:
associating the detected position and/or movement of the hand with an instruction input field visualized in the display area by means of a video projector (e.g. buttons, knobs, virtual sliders), and
-generating a corresponding command input signal.
The electronic control system is configured to set a process parameter based on the generated command input signal.
