Abstract

模拟与数字视频信号各代表一图像,且各载有节目指南信息。多路分离器以数字视频信号作为输入以节目指南信息作为输出。解调器至少具有模拟视频信号的亮度成份作为输入及节目指南信息作为输出。微处理机、视频图形转接器、多路分离器与解调器藉数据总线互连。任一节目指南输出可转移至视频图形转接器将表示节目指南信息的图形视频信号格式化。图形视频信号与被选定的视频信号输入多路调制器,以输出图像的组合视频信号。

Description

统一节目指南接口
本发明涉及综合模拟/数字接收机领域,包括电视接收机及综合接收机电视用的机顶盒(set-top)。
电视机顶盒或综合接收机电视将被要求用以显示来自模拟与数字视频源的图像,例如可在目前许多电话公司的视频请求计划所提出的混合(模拟/数字)纤维同轴电缆(HFC)架构的宽频带网路上提供的视频源。这些架构将模拟与编码的数字视频(例如根据MPEG-2标准编码)供给机顶盒且最后供给电视接收机,其中机顶盒的功能已整合所谓的综合接收机电视。在模拟与数字频道之间提供一种加强、统一的接口是必要的。
节目指南或频道指南的特色是由收集及组合可以或改由节目视频显示的节目信息的服务所提供。节目指南与频道指南用语被认定为同等且可互换的。信息通常以置在图象的一部分上的大格子或简略标题组成。关于特别节目的更详细的信息可由各种节目单及控制功能获得,通常是藉由遥控装置之法。呈现的信息例如:节目开始/结束时间、节目名称、节目内容、节目分级等。应知道节目或频道指南信息并非动态信号而是本质上有每日每周等相同的信息,以致足以提前知道节目时间表。每小时探查及处理节目或频道指南信息数次即已足够,例如每15或20分钟一次。
节目或频道指南信息是在信息信号中传送,例如不具图像视频成分的FM无线电信号,亦即并非视频信号的传统形式者。例如在垂直回扫期间,节目或频道指南信息以模拟视频信号传送。例如当做像MPEG-2的标准编码传送流内PSI(节目特殊信息)表的一部分,节目或频道指南信息以数字视频信号传送。或者,可以利用MPEG-2标准所提供的其它传送方法。其它数字编码方案采用相似的数据结构。节目或频道指南信息迄今尚不能用于混成或混合(模拟/数字)系统,不过此一特性为实际混合系统所需。
本发明的一个方面是提供与混合系统相容的统一的节目或频道指南功能,该功能可接收如模拟与数字视频信号的模拟与数字信号以及信息信号。因可经由如电话及卫星网络接口的宽频带网络接至大量的视频源,此统一的节目或频道指南功能对于装有机顶盒的电视接收机及综合电视接收机特别有用。
根据发明配置的统一的节目指南接口可接收模拟与数字视频信号以及信息信号,任一或全部的这些信号可具有节目指南信息,且可依观赏者可利用此信息选择观看的节目或做为VCR录影用的输入。此可由覆于图象上的标题或具有可供选择的全荧幕显象。
此一节目指南接口可包括:一模拟及数字视频信号源,各表示一图像且各具节目指南信息;将节目指南信息与至少模拟及数字视频信号之一分离的装置;一视频图形产生器;将分离的节目指南信息传递至视频图形产生器的微处理机,视频图形产生器将表示节目指南信息的图形视频信号格式化;以及将图形视频信号与模拟及数字视频信号中任一个组合以产生包括节目指南信息及任一图像的组合视频显示的装置。
具有节目指南信息的信息信号亦可从信号源获得。微处理机亦能将节目指南信息从信息信号传递至组合视频显示用的视频图形产生器。
将节目指南信息与数字视频信号分离的装置可包括一数据包传送流多路信号分离器。将节目指南信息与模拟视频信号分离的装置可包括在垂直消隐期间传输的数据用的解调器。
组合装置可包括:在数字与模拟信号间选取显示用信号的第一多路调制器;及在先前选定的数字与模拟视频信号之一以及图形视频信号间选择信号用的第二多路调制器。
图1为根据发明配置的统一的节目指南接口方块图。
统一的节目指南界面10以方块图形式示于图1。接口10可包容多种操作状况及操作可能性。若决定了某些操作状态或操作可能性将不致遭遇到或不需要时,图示的某些元件可省略。当考虑了接口的各种子设备时,图1可代表极多的具体实例。此接口是用做电视接收机、录影机、计算机等的输入装置。此接口也用以形成可双向数据传输及通讯的较大接口或电路的一部分。
输入选择器/调谐器12接收模拟与数字视频信号形式以可为数字或模拟形式的信息信号的输入信息。为了说明上述目的,将假设数字视频信号具有MPEG-2传送格式且包括PSI表内或采用MPEG-2标准的其它方法的节目指南或频道信息。头字语PSI意谓节目特殊信息。
MPEG-2传送格式使用信息包以界定数字数据流。各信息包具有先头信息,提供信息包的识别以及与MPEG-2数据流的多路分离过程及再建相关的其它信息。MPEG-2数据传输的细节并不为本发明的一部分,因而不在此做更详细说明。在所说明的具体实例中,例如视频信号信息与节目指南信息的信息包均很重要。认知到具有节目指南信息的数据包可被识别且可藉适当的传送信息包多路分离工器将之与数据流分离即已足够,根据MPEG-2标准本领域的一般技术人士可了解传送信息包多路分离器的操作。同样地,解码及解压缩MPEG-2数据视视流用的技术亦为熟悉本领域的一般技术人士所熟知,因而不在此做详细说明。
模拟视频信号亦可包括节目或频道指南信息。在模拟视频信号的垂直消隐期间传输节目或频道指南信息及在接收机内解调此模拟视频信号以分离节目指南或频道信息的技术亦为本领域的一般技术人士熟知,因而不在此作详细说明。
最后,在不是视频信号且为模拟或数字形式的信息信号中的节目或频道指南信息的传输、接收、解调及/或解码亦为本领域的一般技术人士所熟知,因而不在此做详细说明。
这些不同输入信号的独特特性是任一个或全部可具有相同的节目或频道指南信息,解决其所产生问题的统一节目指南接口在此详细说明。
就与任何利用HFC架构之网络(例如电话网络)接口而论,输入选择器/调谐器12现在亦可当做是NIM,或网络接口组件。不考虑标记,输入选择器/调谐器的输出可包括亮度与色度成分Y.C形式的模拟视频信号以及表示多个例如根据MPEG-2标准编码的数字视频信号之一的数字位元流。不是视频信号的信息信号亦可为输入选择器/调谐器的输出。一般而论,模拟与数字视频信号被当做是高速信号,然而信息信号通常被当做是低速信号。由于有一或更多调谐器及路径选择开关,输入选择是受可与输入选择/调谐器在双向数据及控制线30上通信的微处理机18控制。鉴于信息信号的低速特性,为了说明的图1中信息信号被当做是数字形式的,一串列总线即已足够。微处理机18将对使用者发出的指令,例如经遥控或区域控制盘(未示出)进入的指令作出反应。
请注意,为了简化说明声频信号处理已从图中省略。
模拟视频信号为视频信号多路调制器22的一个输入。数字位流为传送包多路分离器14之一个输入。与微处理机18开关连的传送多路分离器在节目指南信息出现时将其与数据传送包的PSI表或其它采用的装置分离。传送包中的视频数据为MPEG-2视频处理器16所解码与解压缩。数字源视频信号为NTSC编码器26的一个输入。此等NTSC编码器通常提供二个模拟输出视频信号,其中之一为亮度与色度成分Y.C而另一为复合视频。将可认识到编码器26可以为PAL或SECAM编码器或任何其它适当的此类标准所取代。于所说明的具体实例中,Y.C格式的视频信号为视频信号多路调制器22的第二输入。多路调制器22的输出为Y.C格式选定的视频信号。此选择为微处理机18产生的慢速交换控制信号所控制。
模拟源视频的Y成分亦为节目指南模拟解调器及输出接口28的一个输入,节目指南模拟解调器及输出接口28将模拟信号的垂直消隐期间出现的节目指南信息分离出。输出接口使得数字形式的节目指南信息为可行的,例如适于并行数据传输。或者,亮度成分可先被转换成数字形式,其后节目指南信息可为数字解调器所分离。为传送包多路分离器14所分离的节目或频道指南信息亦为数字形式的节目或频道指南信息,适于并行处理。信息信号中的节目或频道指南信息为数字形式的,通过信号通路30为微处理机18串列地接收并被微处理机转换成并行格式。
微处理机18在并行数据总线32上与传送包多路分离器14、解调器28之输出接口、随机存取存储器RAM36与视频图形产生器20互连。此微处理机可将内部存储器与RAM36整合,亦即重建来自任一输入源的节目或频道指南信息。选择优先序可根据许多相异的操作情节预先决定。例如在一情节中,不考虑要显示的是何视频信号,数字视频信号可为来源较佳的第一选择,模拟视频信号可为第二选择而信息信号可为第三选择。在一替代实施例中,第一选择可为要被显示的视频信号。若要被显示的视频信号不具节目或频道指南信息,或者若解码第一选择来源遭遇困难,另一视频信号将成为第二或后备来源。信息信号将为第三选择。在另一替代实施例中,因搜索与解码仅需低速处理,对微处理机处理时间之操作需求较少,所以信息信号总是为第一选择。关于此点,请记住节目或频道指南信息本质上具有每日每周等相同的信息,以致足以提前知道节目时间表。每小时分离及处理节目或频道指南信息数次即已足够,例如每15或20分钟一次。
不管是何来源,微处理机18将节目或频道指南数据供给视频图形产生器20,此可为一视频图形转接器,又如已知晓的计算机所用的VGA板。视频图形产生器20将节目或频道指南信息配置成模拟RGB格式的辅助图形视频信号。视频图形产生器20的水平与垂直同步信息(H.VSYNC)为同步信号分离器34所供给,此分离器具有以多路调制器22选定的视频信号输出的亮度成分Y做为输入。视频图形产生器20的RGB输出为RGB转NTSC编码器38的输入,此编码器将图形视频信号转换成亮度与色度Y.C格式。RGB转NTSC编码器38需要来自多路调制器22选定的输出视频信号的色同步信息,因而色度成分C为编码器38的一个输入。将可认识到编码器38可以为RGB转PAL或SECAM编码器或任何其它适当的此类标准所取代。
图形视频信号表示具有与主图像组合的辅助图像性质的视频或图像源,在此情况主图像为多路调制器22选定的视频信号输出。例如显示格式可为类似于像中像显示、并排(side-by-side)显示、上而下(top-bottom)显示或这些格式的变化。显示格式的性质将视组合图像的尺寸及组合图像的显示格式的变化。显示格式的性质将视组合图像的尺寸及组合图像的显示格式比亦即传统的(4×3)或宽屏幕(16×9)而定,并受使用者指令支配。因此,图形视频信号可表示为如节目格子,节目格子为用以形成组合图像的上或下部分的标题或为取代部分或全部主图像的覆盖。
来自多路调制器22选定的输出视频信号及来自编码器38的图形视频信号为视频/节目指南多路调制器24的输入。多路调制器24的输出受视频图形产生器20所产生的快速交换信号控制。亮度与色度Y.C格式的多路调器24的组合输出视频信号为标准视频处理器40的输入,此处理器将RGB信号供给视频显示42。视频显示42可为任何种类的显示,包括但不限于直接与投射阴极射线管、液晶显示、电致发光显示及等离子显示。此视频显示可具有传统的显示格式比,例如4×3;或宽屏幕显示格式比,例如16×9。
不考虑所选定的视频信号原为数字或模拟;不考虑所选定的视频信号是否具有节目或频道指南信息;且不考虑另一模拟信号、另一数字信号或信息信号是否具有节目指南信息,此处所述的统一的节目指南接口使得为了显示所选的任何输入视频信号将为具有节目或频道指南信息的显示。
在不偏离其精神与本质情况下,本发明可以其它特殊形式具体化。因而要显示本发明的真正范围应参考附的权利要求而非前述规范。

Claims (11)

1.一种节目指南接口,其特征在于它包括:
一模拟与数字视频信号源(12),各代表一图像且各可带有节目指南信息;
一分离装置(28或14),将所说节目指南信息与所说模拟与数字视频信号之一分离;
一视频图形产生器(20);
一微处理机(18),用以将所说分离的节目指南信息传送至所说视频图形产生器(20),所说视频图形产生器将表示所说节目指南信息的图形视频信号格式化;以及
组合装置(24,22),将所说图形视频信号与任一所说模拟及数字视频信号组合以产生包含所说节目指南信息与任一所说图像的组合视频显示信号(OUTPUT VIDEO(Y,C))。
2.根据权利要求1的接口,其特征在于,其中具有所说节目指南信息的辅助信息信号的信号通路(30)。
3.根据权利要求2的接口,其特征在于,所说微处理机亦能将所说节目指南信息从所说信号通路(30)传递至所说视频图形产生器(20)。
4.根据权利要求1的接口,还包括选择装置(22),用以选择所说组合显示信号(OUTPUT VIDEO(Y,C))的所说模拟与数字视频信号之一。
5.根据权利要求1的接口,还包括同步信号分离器(34),用以将扫描同步信息供给所说视频图形产生器(20)。
6.根据权利要求1的接口,其特征在于,它还包括将所说节目指南信息与所说模拟视频信号分离的装置(28)和将所说节目指南信息与数字视频信号分离的装置(14)。
7.根据权利要求6的接口,其特征在于,所说将节目指南信息与数字信号分离的装置包括一数据包传送流多路分离器。
8.根据权利要求1的接口,其特征在于,所说将节目指南信息与模拟信号分离的装置包括在垂直消隐期间传输的数据用的解调器。
9.根据权利要求1的接口,其特征在于,所说组合装置包括:
在所说数字与模拟信号间选取显示用信号的第一多路调制器;及
在所说先前选定的所说数字与模拟视频信号之一以及所说图形视频信号间选择信号用的第二多路调制器。
10.根据权利要求1的接口,其特征在于,它尚包括耦合至所说视频图形产生器及所说组合装置的RGB转Y.C编码器(38)。
