Abstract

Description

制备用于涂敷纸的颜料的方法
本发明涉及一种制备用于涂敷纸的颜料的方法。更具体的说,本发明涉及一种改进的方法,用于制备一种称为“缎光白”的颜料,这种颜料主要包括硫酸钙和氢氧化铝。
在涂敷纸的制备中,曾经使用了许多种颜料组合物以便用较低的成本提高具有良好表面光泽的纸张的产率和印刷性。
由于近来纸张生产速度增加,以及提高生产率和印刷性而同时降低成本的需求,要求提高淤浆和色料的流动性(淤浆和粘合剂的一种涂敷混合物)。
缎光白近来作为一种颜料用于涂敷纸,因为它赋予涂敷纸优良的光泽白色和不透明性,并且通过使涂敷表面呈碱性提高了印刷油墨的干燥性和印刷性。另外,缎光白能够采用压延处理得到优良的表面光泽。
美国专利3713881(T.Akiyama等人)描述了一种含水涂料组合物,主要含有一种作为涂料粘合剂的水溶性改性聚乙烯醇,这种改性聚乙烯醇带有一种或多种选自氰乙基的取代基团等。
美国专利4952278(P.E.Gregory&K.D.Vinson)描述了一种纸的结构,通过加入拉伸纤维和诸如二氧化钛之类的一种不透明的矿物颜料,使这种纸的结构具有高不透明性和改进的拉伸强度。
在美国专利3660131(M.H.Murray&E.E.Brodhag)中,一种改进了均匀性的缎光白涂敷颜料是通过将矾或硫酸铝水溶液缓慢加到搅拌的含有熟石灰或氢氧化钙和氢氧化钠的水分散剂中来制备的,它生成具有改进的物理性能的纸涂料。
美国专利3798047(P.Delfosse)描述了一种含有天然碳酸钙和缎光白的颜料。
美国专利3854971(R.F.Conley等人)描述了一种制备纸涂敷颜料的方法,通过形成一种缎光白水悬浮液,将高岭土加入该水悬浮液中并且从该水悬浮液中除去大部分水形成一种自由流动的粉末制备。
美国专利4241143(Y.Ashie&Nakamura)描述一种制版涂敷纸,它通过涂敷含有缎光白和有Tg的聚合物胶乳的含水涂敷色料来制备。
美国专利5030325(S.Saji等人)描述了一种制备光泽涂敷纸的方法,通过在底基纸上涂敷其中含有缎光白和有机颜料以及粘合剂的涂料组合物来制备。
在现有技术中,己知有二种缎光白,即一种平均颗粒尺寸为2~10μm的大的球形颗粒,和平均颗粒尺寸为0.1~2.0μm的小的针形颗粒。前者可以采用分批将硫酸铝(Al2(SO4)3)加到氢氧化钙的水悬浮液(石灰乳)中制备,而后者采用连续加入硫酸铝的方法制备。
虽然这二种颗粒与其它颜料比较,表现出优良的白度和印刷光泽,但是已经发现高浓度的球形颗粒的淤浆由于颗粒大而结块,所以不适于高速涂敷工艺。但是高浓度色料形式的针形颗粒由于其优良的流动性却能够用于高速涂敷工艺。
现今,要求提供具有更均匀的颗粒分布、改进的触变性和优良的印刷性的进一步改进的缎光白颜料。
本发明的目的是提供具有优良流动性的用于涂敷纸的颜料,它改进了在涂敷表面上的颗粒分布、光泽和印刷性。
在本发明与现有技术中用于连续生产0.1~2.0μm缎光白的方法之间的主要不同在于使用Zn以及Ca和Al作为阳离子因此针形晶体通过硫酸铝和硫酸锌与石灰乳的瞬时反应容易地并以一种稳定的方式生成。
与上述相似的晶体的晶形在本发明申请人申请的韩国专利96-2523(制备超细碳酸钙胶体颗粒的方法)中有描述。
根据本发明,使石灰乳通过一个管子流入高速和剪应力的一个混合搅拌器中,例如管道均匀混合机(pipeline homomixer),同时将硫酸铝和硫酸锌连续地混合并且加压通过另一个管道流到搅拌机中。在各反应物之间的反应立即完成,而一种含有硫酸钙铝和硫酸锌铝化合物,颗粒尺寸为0.3±0.1μm、颗粒分布均匀的颜料就生成了。
形成0.3±0.1μm针形颗粒的四个基本条件如下:
1)石灰乳、硫酸铝和硫酸锌的浓度和温度分别是7±2%重量和40±5C(下文中,硫酸铝的%重量的基于以Al2O3描述);
2)ZnO/CaO的摩尔比是0.04~0.25/1;
3)CaO+ZnO/Al2O3的摩尔比是7±0.5/1;和
4)硫酸铝和硫酸锌连续地加入并与石灰乳混合。
通过在60±5C熟化处理5±3小时得到颜料淤浆。由此得到的淤浆用离心分离机脱水,并且与一种丙烯酸分散剂混合搅拌。生成的颜料淤浆有低的粘度。
将高岭土颜料或粘合剂加入到这种淤浆中,最后制成用于涂敷纸的涂敷剂,称为“颜料”。
现在将参照以下的说明性实施例更详细地描述本发明。
实施例1
在40C制备8%重量的石灰乳。在同一温度制备CaO+ZnO/Al2O3的摩尔比是7.0/1的硫酸铝溶液(基于Al2O3,为8%重量)和ZnO/CaO的摩尔比是5.0/1的硫酸锌溶液(8%重量)。使石灰乳流到一个管子里,将硫酸铝溶液和硫酸锌溶液混合在一起并加压加到在管子里的石灰乳中。将该混合物在管道中搅拌,并转移到另一个罐里熟化。在60C熟化处理5小时。
在这样处理之后,用离心分离机将混合物脱水,生成的饼块含有31%重量的固体物质。将0.5%重量(基于固体颜料材料)的聚丙烯酸钠(polyacrylic soda)加到饼块中,得到平均颗粒直径0.3μm的颜料。
实施例2和3以及对比实施例1至6
反应的条件和结果示于表1。
应用实施例
将3%重量(基于颜料的固体物质)的聚丙烯酸钠作为分散剂加到实施例1至3和对比实施例1至6的颜料中,从这些混合物中得到6.24%重量的用于涂敷纸的颜料淤浆。
淤浆的流动性采用Hercules高剪应力粘度计测量。具有以下混合比的色料用一个涂敷棒手工涂敷到高质量的纸张表面上,在室温下干燥,并进行超级砑光处理。
色料的混合比
颜料            80%重量
淀粉(粘合剂)    10%重量
胶乳(粘合剂)    10%重量
固体物质        50%重量
在下表中表对队实施例和对比实施例的评价。、○、和×分别代表“极好”、“好”和“差”。此外,△代表在好与差之间的一种状态。
应该注意到,具有越窄的颗粒分布宽度,颗粒的均匀性越好。还有,具有越高的触变性,流动性越好,并且ink sets越小,印刷性越好。
采用本发明的方法生产的颜料的优点包括:
1、在涂敷纸(例如铜板纸)上的高光泽白度,
2、好的不透明性和印刷性,
3、以低成本提供高质量的纸。

Claims (2)

1.一种制备用于涂敷纸的、平均颗粒尺寸为0.3±0.1μm的针形颜料的方法,包括以下的步骤:
a)分别将硫酸铝和硫酸锌的水溶液与氢氧化钙的水悬浮液连续地混合,所述硫酸铝和硫酸锌的水溶液以及氢氧化钙的悬浮液的浓度是7±2%重量,温度是40±5℃,其中硫酸铝的浓度基于Al2O3计,控制溶液和悬浮液的量,使ZnO对CaO的摩尔比、CaO和ZnO对Al2O3的摩尔比分别在0.04~0.25/1和7±0.5/1的范围;
b)在60±3℃的温度下熟化生成的悬浮液5±3小时;和
c)由所述的悬浮液制成目标针形颜料。
2.根据权利要求1的方法,该方法还包括将该熟化的悬浮液脱水生成饼块,将聚丙烯酸加到该饼块中,将该饼块进行干燥和磨粉而得到干的制品。
