Description

带有磁电阻传感磁头装置的直接存取存储设备
本发明一般涉及一种直接存取存储装置(DASD),更明确地说,涉及一种用于DASD的磁电阻传感磁头信号装置。
各种类型的存储单元,如直接存取存储设备(DASD)用来为已知的数据处理系统存储数据。一种经常使用的DASD类型是一种磁盘单元,该磁盘单元包括多个带有磁活性材料表面的磁盘,通过读/写磁头往该表面上写数据并从该表面上读数据。在其他类型的DASD中,可以使用光学的或其他的数据存储媒体。
在磁盘单元中,格式化磁盘以在磁盘表面上定义扇区和磁道。磁道通常是与磁盘轴线同轴的圆形区域,可以把数据写在此处;而扇区是磁道的诸部分,能够存储预定数量的写到磁盘上的数据。DASD磁盘上的轴向对准磁道称作柱面。存储数据块的DASD的扇区具有唯一物理数据块地址(DBA)。DASD的诸磁盘一致地绕一个共公轴旋转,而诸传感器磁头(通常每个表面一个)一致地径向跨过磁盘表面运动。当从物理DBA上读数据或把数据写到其上时,磁头运动与包含其中发现DBA的磁道的柱面对准,并且随着DBA的扇区或诸扇区在磁头下旋转而发生数据传输。
磁电阻(MR)传感器磁头为DASD提供了明显的读写技术进步。MR磁头的一个优点是使用独立的元件用来读和写。这就允许写元件很宽,宽度几乎充满磁道间距,而读元件很窄。这种写宽、读窄能力减小了对伺服系统的磁道误定位(TMR)要求。
图4表示一种用于在DASD中连接两个MR传感器磁头的常规布置。每个MR传感器磁头需要四根信号线。两根信号线用来把写电流传输到MR写元件,两根信号线用来把读电流传输到MR读元件。
MR磁头提供一个很低幅值的信号。在电信号通道中拾取多余的噪声能导致信号下降。早在电信号通道中便使用一个MR前置放大器来放大读电流和写电流。在某些已知的DASD中,把MR前置放大器便利地离开致动器放在一个静止位置。保持MR前置放大器离开致动器,减小了致动器质量以加速存取时间。如在图4的先有技术布置中所示,提供一个静止的MR前置放大器需要带有MR信号线的柔性电缆。
磁盘驱动器尺寸通常受形状系数、长度的工业标准、宽度和高度尺寸的限制。随着磁盘驱动设备形状系数越来越小,对所用系统的电连接可能使用设备形状系数的越来越大的部分。对于某些形状系数,MR传感器磁头需要使用的信号线数目可能会超过用于柔性电缆的允许空间。
需要提供一种在DASD中的改进布置,该DASD提供了与MR传感器磁头的信号连接,并对读信号保持适当的噪声抑制。
日本PUPA61-16009公开了一种用于两频道模拟立体声电路的MR效应型磁头装置,包括:4个读元件,每个元件包括偏置输入线;MR传感器输入线和返回线。用于每个元件的返回线相互连接以形成一公共读返回线。但并没有公开放置于用于MR传感器磁头的读元件的顺序对的各个读信号线之间的柔性电缆的公共读返回线,用于保持适当的相互感应用于公共模式噪声抑制。
本发明的主要目的是提供一种装置,该装置在一种直接存取存储设备中提供了与MR传感器磁头的信号连接,这种直接存取存储设备克服了先有技术布置的许多缺点。
简单地说,本发明的目的和优点通过一种直接存取存储设备来实现,这种直接存取存储设备包括至少一个安装的用来绕一个轴转动并带有用来存储数据的相对磁盘表面的磁盘。安装一个磁电阻(MR)传感器磁头,以便跨过每个相应的磁盘表面运动,从而向磁盘表面写或从磁盘表面读数据信号。每个MR传感器磁头包括一个写元件和一个读元件。一个与MR传感器磁头有联系的前置放大器放大读元件和写元件的读和写信号。一根柔性电缆在该前置放大器与MR传感器磁头之间进行读和写信号耦合。该柔性电缆包括一根公共的读返回信号线,用于MR传感器磁头的每一个顺序对。

在图1中,表示一种数据磁盘存储器10的诸部分的部分示意性方块图,数据磁盘存储器10包括一个一般指定为12的数据存储媒体和一个一般指定为14的控制单元。在本发明的最佳实施例中,数据存储媒体12以刚性磁盘驱动器单元12的方式实施,尽管可以使用其他的机械运动存储器结构。单元12以足以理解本发明的简化形式表明,因为本发明的应用不限于具体驱动器单元结构的细节。
现在参照图1和2,磁盘驱动器单元12包括带有磁表面的诸磁盘18的堆叠体16。诸数据磁盘18包括一层在相对磁盘表面26上的磁性材料。单元12包括选择数目的双面数据磁盘18,以提供选择的存储容量,如在图1中所示的标号从表面0至表面N。多个数据信息磁道或柱面28以同心的图案排列在诸数据磁盘18的每个磁盘表面26的磁媒体中。数据信息磁道28布置在相对于伺服基准磁道,如图2中所示的RO的预定位置。一个数据柱面包括一组对应用于数据表面O-N的数据信息磁道28。例如,951个数据柱面可以包括在磁盘表面26中,如在图2中所示标号从0至950。每条数据信息磁道28包括多个围绕柱面的等间距数据扇区30,例如,96个数据扇区,标号0-95。
磁盘18平行地安装,以便在整体主轴和电动机组件32上及由它们同时转动。在每个磁盘18上的数据信息磁道28由跨过磁盘表面可运动的对应数据传感器磁头34读和/或写。传感器磁头34由联动的诸臂38支承,以便绕一个支承主轴40同时转动。诸臂38之一包括一个由磁头驱动电动机44以旋转运动驱动的延伸部分42。尽管共用几个驱动装置,但为了定位诸磁头与要跟随的柱面28对准,电动机44可以包括一个与可操作受控磁铁和铁芯组件(未显示)相配合的线圈46,以便在径向同步地移动传感器磁头34。
数据利用设备14一般包括一个接口或存储器处理器50,存储器处理器50控制要存储在诸磁盘18的数据扇区30中的数据的传输,以便后来存取和使用。一个伺服处理器52耦合在接口处理器50、电动机32和44及数据传感器磁头34之间。伺服处理器52控制移动磁头34对准目标或选定的数据LBA和在接口处理器50的控制下传感数据的操作。
磁盘存取由伺服处理器52操作控制。操作电动机32以转动磁盘叠16。伺服处理器52利用伺服控制操作,相对于转动的磁盘18由磁头驱动电动机44径向移动数据磁头34,以便选择性地把诸数据传感器磁头的每一个与要读或写数据的柱面28的特定径向位置对准。
现在参照图3,这里表示磁盘存储器10的一对顺序的传感器磁头34,以及根据本发明布置的信号装置。传感器磁头34是标记为MR磁头1和MR磁头2的磁电阻(MR)磁头。每个MR磁头34包括一个MR读元件和一个MR写元件。来自一个MR前置放大器60的信号连接由一根柔性电缆62经至每个MR读元件和MR写元件的磁头吊线的相应双扭线提供。MR磁头34的每一个写元件需要柔性电缆62中的一对写信号线。根据本发明,柔性电缆62包括一个单一的标为公共-读-返回的读返回信号导体或导线,该线用于磁盘存储器10中的MR磁头34的每一个顺序对。公共-读-返回从读磁头吊线连接到柔性电缆62上的一个点延伸。
一个单端MR前置放大器能用于MR前置放大器60,MR前置放大器60允许来自MR读元件的读返回信号线处于基准电位,一般为地电位。连接到MR前置放大器60的公共-读-返回信号线的基准电位在I/O输入端用负一标号表示。连接到MR前置放大器60的读信号线在I/O输入端用正十标号表示。在磁盘存储器10中,需要公共-读-返回信号线以对读信号保持适当的噪声抑制。在柔性电缆62中保持MR读信号线与MR公共-读-返回信号线靠在一起增加了互感。如图示的那样,公共-读-返回信号线布置在用于MR磁头1和2的相应读信号线之间,以保持用于公共模式噪声抑制的适当互感。
如在图3中所示,对于包括两个MR磁头34和MR前置放大器60的磁盘存储器,柔性电缆62的输入/输出(I/O)连接的数目减少了一个。减少柔性电缆62上的信号线数目提供了多个优点,这些优点包括(但不限于这些);减小了柔性电缆宽度和/或减少了前置放大器I/O,或者使柔性电缆62上的线宽度可以更宽。
在包括数目等于N的MR磁头34的磁盘存储器10中,与图4的先有技术布置相比,需要的读信号线的数目减少了N/2,此处MR磁头数N是偶数,或者减少了(N-1)/2,此处MR磁头数N是奇数。类似地,能减少了MR前置放大器60的I/O连接的需要数目。

Claims (7)

1.一种直接存取存储设备,包括:
至少一个磁盘,装配后绕一个轴转动并带有用来存储数据的相对磁盘表面;
多个磁电阻(MR)传感器装置,装配后通过致动装置跨过相应的磁盘表面运动,每一个用来把数据信号写到相应的磁盘表面上及从相应的磁盘表面读数据信号;每一个所述MR传感器装置包括一个写元件和一个读元件;
前置放大器装置,与所述MR传感器装置相连接并保持离开所述致动装置,用来放大读和写信号;及
柔性电缆装置,用来耦合所述前置放大器装置与所述MR传感器装置之间的所述读和写信号,对于所述MR传感器装置的每个所述写元件,所述柔性电缆装置都包括两根与其相耦合的写信号线;
所述直接存取存储设备的特征在于:所述柔性电缆装置还包括与所述MR传感器装置的每个所述读元件相耦合的读信号线,以及同时连接到所述MR传感器装置的每一顺序对的所述读元件并且直接连接到所述前置放大器装置的公共读返回信号线。
2.根据权利要求1的直接存取存储设备,其中,所述前置放大器装置是一个单端前置放大器,并且所述公共读返回信号线处于基准电位。
3.根据权利要求1的直接存取存储设备,包括N个顺序MR传感装置,并且其中,所述柔性电缆装置包括N/2根公共读返回线,这里N是偶数。
4.根据权利要求1所述的直接存取存储器,包括N个顺序MR传感装置,并且其中所述柔性电缆装置包括(N-1)/2根公共读返回信号线,其中N是奇数;并且其中所述柔性电缆装置包括N/2根公共读返回信号线,其中N是偶数。
5.根据权利要求1的直接存取存储设备,其中磁盘的数目大于1,并且所述磁盘被安装成一个盘组以便同时转动。
6.根据权利要求5所述的直接存取存储设备,其中所述公共读返回信号线在所述MR传感器装置的每个顺序对的一对所述读信号线之间延伸并且通常与之平行。
7.根据权利要求5所述的直接存取存储设备,其中所述公共读返回信号线处于基准电位。
