Abstract

技术领域
本发明涉及标记读取器,以及更具体地,涉及配置有紫外(UV)光源和用于限制UV暴露的机构的成像扫描仪。
背景技术
在结账台使用销售点系统以记录支付物品、处理支付以及更新商店的库存清单。这些系统具有计算能力,且常常使用多个数据收集设备。
一种数据收集设备是标记读取器(即,条形码扫描仪)。标记读取器有许多种类,并常见于零售商店的销售点(即,结帐台)。这些读取器可方便地扫描各种标记类型(例如条形码),以在结帐过程中获取产品信息以供使用。
除了条形码,结帐时常常要求其它信息。有时,出于法律或安全的原因,物品要求客户呈现一些信息。例如,购买酒类或验证信用卡所有权可能要求顾客呈现年龄/身份的证明(例如,驾驶证)。
遗憾的是,有时在结帐时所呈现的物品可能不是有效的或真实的。越来越需要额外的审查和记录保存以防止损失和/或防范责任。未能检测出无效或伪造物品和/或创建验证记录可能导致罚款或损失。
隐形的安全标志可被用于物品验证。这些安全标志可被印刷或粘贴到物品上,并且可通过使用某些专门的处理/设备来检测到和/或解码。例如,可使用在用紫外光照射时明显地发出荧光的隐形油墨来印刷安全标志。

发明内容

具体实施方式
本发明包括用于限制对被配置成读取物品上的UV敏感标志的标记读取器所发射的UV辐射暴露的方法和设备。
标记(例如,1维条形码、QR码、Aztec码、数据矩阵、文本等)可被粘贴、打印或以其它方式附着到物品上,以机器可读的格式提供与物品相关的信息。
标记读取器是用于读取(即,扫描)标记的设备。成像标记读取器(即,成像扫描仪,区域图像扫描仪,成像读取器等)可以是手持的(例如,HONEYWELL™XENONtm 1900)或固定架的(例如,柜台扫描仪)。
为了获得在标记中编码的信息,用户触发标记读取器(例如,通过拉动触发器、通过将流传输模式的标记读取器指向标记等)来捕捉标签(即,标记)的数字图像。在一些实施例中,标记读取器可在图像捕捉期间利用可见(即,白光)光源照射其视场,特别是在低照明条件下。在成像期间照射所述物品有助于确保所捕捉的数字图像适合于处理。
捕捉后,利用处理器上运行的算法对数字图像进行处理。所述处理器是标记读取器的一部分,或是与标记读取器通信地耦合的主机设备的一部分。所述处理器至少识别图像内的标记,并根据标记的类型(例如,QR码、OCR等)对标记进行解码。
通常,物品被标有多个标记。在一些情况下,物品包括用于提供与所述物品相关的某些信息的主标记,以及帮助验证/认证物品或与携带所述物品的人的辅助标记。对用户来说,在没有某些特殊照射(例如,紫外照射)的情况下,这些安全标志可能是不可见的。
UV光源可引起由UV敏感材料(例如,荧光染料)创建的辅助标记(即,安全标志)在暴露于UV光时明显地发出荧光。例如,货币、驾驶证、护照和邮票上可能包含UV敏感的安全标志以防止假冒。文件也可包含UV敏感的安全标志,以防止伪造。
UV光源以适合于观看安全标志的强度发射波长大约在100纳米(nm)至400nm范围内的UV辐射(即,光)。UV光源可以是安装在必须保证安全的地方(例如,销售点,旅游检查站等)的专用于这个目的专用设备。在某些位置,这一专用、单一目的设备并不理想。例如,销售点(即,结账)的位置可能没有多少空间用于额外的设备。此外,此设备并不十分适合于移动应用(例如,物流,航运等)。被配置成用于读取主标记和辅助标记两者的标记读取器(例如,手持式标记读取器)解决了这些限制。

照射子系统20包括主光源30,主光源30在标记读取器1被触发(例如,通过按压触发开关)时发射可见辐射31(例如,波长范围为400nm-700nm的光)对主标记3进行扫描(即,读取)。示例性的主光源可包括指向并与标记读取器的成像子系统的视场11对准的一个或多个发光元件(例如,发光二极管、激光二极管等)。

计算机可读存储器60存储信息。在标记读取器1中所使用的示例性的存储器类型包括只读存储器(ROM)、闪存和/或硬盘驱动器。存储器存储了必要的软件、参考库、数据库、物品分类以及针对主标记和辅助标记的读取和验证的结果。
图2A和图2B以图形方式描绘了配置有主光源和辅助UV光源的标记读取器的使用。图2A图示了标记读取器利用主光源照射驾驶证,使得可以扫描驾驶证的条形码。图2B图示了标记读取器利用辅助UV光源照射驾驶证,使得可以利用标记读取器的成像子系统查看和/或记录安全标志。
配置有UV光源的标记读取器存在有意或无意的误用的可能性。误用是一个安全问题。UV辐射对某些材料可能是有害的。例如,UV辐射可导致降解(例如,光氧化)。UV辐射对人也可能是有害的。例如,人的皮肤和眼睛对UV辐射所引起的损害(例如,晒伤、皮肤癌、光性角膜炎等)敏感。此外,紫外暴露可能加重某些皮肤状况(例如,红斑痤疮)和疾病(例如,狼疮)。
误用可以各种方式发生。例如,辅助UV光可被用户(或者响应于扫描而自动)激活,但是在标记读取器从初始目标移开且朝向人(例如,用户的眼睛)之前未被停用。在另一示例中,辅助UV光可自动响应于条形码扫描,但是在标记读取器从初始目标移开且朝向人(例如,用户的眼睛)之前未被停用。UV光源的误用可能存在暴露风险。

Claims (15)
1.一种用于控制标记读取器的照射的计算机实现方法,所述方法包括:
激活主光源以照射物品上的主标记;
扫描所述物品的主标记以产生主标记信息;
基于主标记信息对所述物品分类;
将所述物品的类别与存储器中所存储的类别进行比较;
如果所述物品的类别与存储器中所存储的类别中的至少一个相匹配,则激活辅助UV光源以照射辅助标记;以及
如果
(i)检测到辅助UV光源的暴露风险,或者
(ii)辅助标记被扫描而产生了辅助标记信息,
则停用辅助UV光源。
2.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中,所述暴露风险包括时间段期满。
3.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中,所述暴露风险包括在标记读取器的视场内对特定对象的检测。
4.如权利要求3所述的方法,其中,所述特定对象是人或人体的部分。
5.如权利要求4所述的方法,其中,所述人体的部分是眼睛。
6.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中,所述暴露风险包括在标记读取器的视场内对特定物质的检测。
7.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中,所述暴露风险包括在标记读取器的视场内的对特定行为的检测。
8.如权利要求7所述的方法,其中所述特定行为包括物品离开标记读取器的视场。
9.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中,所述标记读取器为手持式成像扫描仪或固定架成像扫描仪。
10.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中,所述物品为身份证明文件。
11.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中,所述辅助标记为用于证明物品的真实性的安全标志。
12.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中,辅助标记在被辅助UV光源照射时可见,否则不可见。
13.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中,所述主光源为可见光源,以及所述主标记在正常照明条件下可见。
14.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中,所述主标记为条形码。
15.一种成像标记扫描仪,包括:
用于捕捉视场的图像的相机;
用于照射所述视场以能够进行主标记扫描的主照射子系统;
用于照射所述视场以能够进行UV敏感标记扫描的辅助UV照射子系统;
用于存储软件和数据库的存储器,其中,所述数据库包括与需要UV敏感标记扫描的物品对应的信息;
通信地耦合到所述相机、主照射子系统、辅助UV照射子系统和存储器的处理器,所述处理器通过软件被配置成:
在由用户触发时激活主照射子系统和相机;
扫描主标记以产生主标记信息;
将所述主标记信息与数据库进行比较;
如果所述主标记信息与数据库的至少一部分匹配,则激活辅助UV照射子系统;以及
在(i)已扫描所述UV敏感标记,(ⅱ)已检测到暴露风险或(iii)没有UV敏感标记已被扫描并且没有暴露风险已被检测到的时间段已期满之后,停用UV照射子系统。
