连接器模块
本发明涉及用于导线组的电连接的模块。
在通信工业中,包括一个绝缘位移接触件阵列的连接块典型地用于电话局,建筑物引入端,以及为电缆与交叉连接导线的电连接而设的外部线路箱中。此种连接块之一例为标准110连接器组件。(例如,见美国专利3,798,587号.)该连接器组件包含安置于一塑料模块中的数行绝缘位移接触件。每个接触件的两端都设有绝缘通槽。一组导线放在一对准条中,连接模块安置在导线上以便进行连接。另一组导线则插入接触件的另一端以完成两组导线之间的连接。在某些近期的系统中,连接器模块中含有可安装与接触件相连的保护器的塞孔。(例如,见美国专利4,171,857及4,283,103。)
虽然现有连接器组件尚属适用,但所有的配线一般均需在同一表面上进行已限制了导线端子的密度。此外,当组件中包含保护器时,为插入跳线或测试探针通常必须先将保护器卸下,给使用者造成不便。
本发明为一种连接器模块,其中包含安置于具有上下表面的绝缘壳中的两行接触件。每个接触件有一个端头部分可为相应导线提供电连接。接触件的安装使其第一行的端头部分伸出上表面而第二行的端头部分则伸出下表面。两行的端头部分横向错开,且上下表面均有与相应行相邻的塞孔以便接入引线与相应接触件构成电连接。
以下详细描述本发明的上述及其它特性。在图中:

图2-4为同一实施例模块的截面图;而
图5则为在图1模块透视图上加上所示元件后的图形。
应当理解,作为演示,这些图形不必按比例画出。
图1所示为一个模块10,可与其它相似模块一齐插入一个框架(未示出)构成连接组件。该模块包括一个用绝缘材料如塑料制成的外壳。外壳包括一个基本为矩形的壳体11,分别戴有两个壳帽(cap)。壳帽可用与壳体相同的材料制成并分别限定外壳的上下两个表面12和13。每个壳帽均有一排槽,例如16,可如下文所述插入导线(例如图4中的61所示)。每个壳帽还在外壳的上下表面12和13,上各有一排塞孔,例如图2中的17和18,这些塞孔中可插入引线,例如图5中的19,从而可与盒式保护器,图5中的20,单个保护器,图3中的21,测试探针,图4中的22,或其它可能的元件相耦合。
如图2-4所示,在外壳中安装有第一排接触件,例如30,和第二排接触件,例如31。各个接触件30及31分别具有其端头部分32及33,它们可分别提供与导线60及61的电连接。在本实施例中,所示二端头部分各有一孔34及35,穿过围绕导线的绝缘以建立电连接。接触件的安装使第一排接触件,例如30的端头部分伸出外壳的上表面12,而第二排接触件,例如31的端头部分则伸出外壳的下表面13。端头部分,例如33,还与例如图1中的壳帽15上相应的槽,例如图1中的16对准,便于导线插入壳帽通过接触件形成电连接。
接触件30及31的余部,又称主干部分,延伸于壳体11中,从而使第一行中的一个接触件30可与第二行中的另一接触件31形成机电连接。在此实施例中,该二接触件在两点38及39上形成机电连接,在Baggett等人于同日提出的美国专利申请2-2-2-2-3-1-2-9中对此有更详尽的讨论。
应注意第一及第二行接触件,例如30及31,其端头部分之间存在横向距离L,其相应的塞孔,例如17及18,则设置于该横向空隙中。接触点38及39与各自相应的塞孔17及18对准,从而如图3及图4之例所示,保护器21的引线40即可插入塞孔18与主干相连,而测试塞绳22的引线41也可插入塞孔应理解17与主干相连。
此处公开的模块具有若干优点。例如,由电缆来的导线61可连接到位于模块下表面的第二行接触件,例如31上,而交叉连接导线60则可连接到位于模块上表面的第一行接触件,例如30上。由于利用了模块的两个表面,导线端子密度增大。此外,使用者可随意如图3及图4所示将保护器插入下表面,或如图5所示将一个含若干充气管保护器的盒式保护器20插入上表面。在这两种情况下,当需要在模块的另一表面插入测试探针22或跳线电缆(未示出)时均可将保护器保留不动。而且,当保护器位于下表面时,上表面有很大的空间用以连接交叉连接导线而无需卸下保护器。对本领域技术人员而言,此处所讨论的实施例的许多变型将显而易见。例如,壳体部分11不必如所示上下开口再戴上壳帽,而可其自有上下表面,既可无壳帽亦可有一个仅盖住接触件端头部分的壳帽。

Claims (5)

1。一个连接器模块包括:
一个具有上下表面(12,13)的绝缘外壳(11,14,15);
安装于壳内的第一及第二行接触件(30,31),每个接触件各含一端头部分(32,33)能提供与相应导线(60,61)的电连接,每个接触件还包括一个主干部分(42,43),
其特征在于:接触件的安装使其第一行的端头部分伸出上表面(12)而第二行的端头部分则伸出下表面(13),第一行与第二行的端头部分相互横向错开,同时上下表面上均有与接入引线的相应行相邻的塞孔(17,18)以便构成与相应接触件的电连接。
2。根据权利要求1的连接器模块,其各端头部分均利用绝缘贯槽(34,35)提供电连接。
3。根据权利要求1的连接器,其第一行接触件的主干部分(42)与第二行相应接触件的主干部分(43)构成电连接并与上下表面的相应塞孔(17,18)对准以便接入插进塞孔的引线。
4。根据权利要求1的连接器,其外壳包括置于第一及第二行接触件端头部分的绝缘壳帽(14,15),所述壳帽上具有与相应端头部分对准的槽(16)以便插入导线构成与端头部分的电连接以及与主干部分对准的塞孔(17)以备插入引线之用。
5。根据权利要求1的连接器还包括一个至少用一根引线(19)插入上下表面之一的保护器件(20)。
