本发明涉及用于电连接成组导线的模块。
在电信业中,包括绝缘位移接触件阵列的连接组件常在电话中心局、建筑物入户终端(building entrance terminals)、和外部设备箱中用于电缆与交接线间的电连接。这种连接组件的一个例子是标准的110型连接器组件。(例如,参见美国专利3,798,587号)。这种连接器组件包括成排装在塑料模块内的绝缘位移接触件。每个接触件两端包括绝缘贯通槽。一组导线在一(定位指示)带中,接触件模块放在导线上方以与其产生接触。另一组导线被插入接触件的对端以实现各组导线间的电连接。在最近的一些系统中,连接器模块包括用来安装与接触件电连接的保护器件的槽口。(如,见美国专利4,171,857和4,283,103)。
虽然已有技术的连接器组件尚能满足要求,但其通常在单一表面进行布线,当在连接器块上还装有保护器件时,就必须在插入跳线或测试探针前卸去保护器件。根据与本案在同样日期申请的Baggett等人的台湾专利申请案1-1-1-1-1-1-8,描述了一种模块,其允许在两个面上进行布线,在保护器件装在一个表面的同时可在另一个表面插入各插接线或测试引线。在这种模块中,有希望保证在测试探针插入连接器组件中时保护器件与至少一些接触件保持连接以便不中断保护作用。此外,有希望获得“先接后断”的能力以便插入一插接线或测试接线时不中断信令。
本发明是一连接器模块,其包括两排固定在带有上下表面的绝缘外壳中的接触件。每个接触件包括端部和主干部,端部能够与对应导线形成电连接。接触件是这样安装的:第一排接触件的端部延伸贯穿该上表面,第二排接触件的端部延伸贯穿该下表面。第一排和第二排对应接触件的主干部伸入外壳,在主干部至少两点处形成电接触。接触点与上下表面中的槽口对准。

应该知道,为便于说明,这些图不一定按比例绘制。
图1所示是模块10,其可与其它类似模块一起插入机架(未表示)构成一连接组件。模块包括由绝缘材料(如塑料)制成的外壳。外壳包括基本上为矩形的主体部分11,其由盖帽14和15覆盖。盖帽可用与外壳相同的材料制成,分别确定外壳的上下表面12和13。每个盖帽包括一系列槽口,如16,其如下所述允许插入导线(如,图4中的61)。每个盖帽在外壳的上下表面12和13上还包括一系列槽口;如图1和4的17和18,这些槽口允许插入引线,如40和41,引线可与单个保护器件(图5的21)、测试探针(图7的22)、插接线(图9的50)、盒式保护器(未示出),或其它可能元件电连接。
如图4-7所示,安装在外壳中的是第一排接触件(如30)和第二排接触件(如31),其中一个接触件(30)详细地示于图2和图3。每个接触件30和31分别包括端部32和32,它们可与导线60和61形成电连接。在本实施例中,每个端部包括狭缝34和35,其在导线插入适当深度时刺穿导线的绝缘层建立电连接。接触件这样安装:第一排接触件(如30)的端部贯穿外壳的上表面12,而第二排接触件(如31)的端部贯穿外壳的下表面13。端部(如33)还与盖帽的对应狭缝(如图1的16)对准以便导线(如61)可插入盖帽,通过接触件电连接。
接触件30和31的其余部分(也分别叫做主干部42和43)在主体部分11中延伸。如图2所示,端部(如32)的面与主干部(如42)的纵轴最好成约45度角。如图3所示,每个接触件(如30)的主干部(如42)以与端部在纵轴平面内的边所成的第一角θ1从端部边延伸,再以与端部的那条边所成的第二角θ2沿主干部延伸。在本特定例子中,θ1是17度,θ2是2度。通常,θ1在10到20度的范围内,而θ2在-10到+20度的范围内。采用两个角度有利于减小外壳部分11的宽度(W),使端部靠得更近。然而,可以采用具有单一角度的引线。应该知道,第一排和第二排的接触件可以相同,但定位方向相反。
每个主干部(如42)包括一对隆起部分,44和45,其用贵重金属或合金形成镀层以利电接触。如图4-7所示,隆起部分在第一排和第二排的对应接触件30和31间建立起两个电接触点。每个上接触点,(如38)与上表面的槽口(如17)对准,而每个下接触点39,与外壳下表面的槽口(如18)对准。
如图5所示,当与保护器21(或与如图9中50所示的插接线连接的引线40被插入所要求的槽口(如18)中时,其首先推开与槽口对准的接点39处的两主干部42和43。然而,在另一接触点38处,主干部起初还保持接触以保证“先接后断”连接,从而不中断两接触件30和31间的信令。(实际运用中,在插入保护器件时通常不需要先接后断特点,但可通过保护器件21的使用说明原理。)
由于几个特点,实现这种先接后断能力是可能的。主要是,由于引线如图所示下面插入点39,主干部42的偏移比主干部43的大,所以即使在点39断开时,点38也保持闭合。这是因为主干部43的弯矩(bending moment)取决于从外壳的下表面到触点39的距离(a),而主干部42的弯矩取决于从外壳上表面到接触点39的距离(b)。显然,距离(b)大于距离(a),因此主干部42的位移大于主干部43的位移。从而促使主干部42的表面(图3的44)与主干部43的对应表面在接触点38接触,而同时触点39断开。应该知道,如果引线从上面插入,则同样的原理作用相反,即主干部43比主干部42的偏移更大,因为测量的主干部43的弯矩从接触点38到下表面,而计量的主干部42的弯矩从上表面到触点38。
如图6所示,当引线进一步插入两主干部中时,另一触点38将最终分开,保护器件21安装在外壳的下表面13上。因此,当保护器件21处于其最终的位置时,接触件30和31间的电流将只流过保护器件。当插接线(如图9所示)插入一个槽口如17或18时,将出现与图5和6所描绘的同样的结果。
如果想在一些点处提供到接触件30和31的测试入口(如图7所示),附于测试线22的引线41可插入与保护器件21相对的外壳表面上的槽口17。测试引线41将进一步推开没有被保护器件引线占据的触点38。然而,由于前面描述的弯矩的作用,主干部43将保持与保护器件引线的接触以便继续提供对与下端部(如33)连接的电缆和电路(未示出)的保护。但与端部32连接的主干部42将与保护器件引线40分开,以便能够在两个方面独立进行测试,同时对电路提供电压浪涌保护。
主干部42距离引线40的位移由用于图10所示测试探针的一种引线41方便地产生。
引线基本包括绝缘衬底55,如厚度通常约为1-2mm的环氧玻璃。衬底55包括一个表面上的一对导体46和47,和相对的表面上的一对导体48和49。应该注意,一个表面上的导体46和47的厚度明显大于相对表面上导体48和49的厚度。通常,导体46和47的厚度是0.50mm,而导体48和49的厚度是0.25mm。一般一对导体的厚度应至少比另一对的厚度大两倍。
应该知道,通过插入引线41,使较厚的接触导体如47与主干部42接触而较薄的接触导体如49与主干部43接触(另外的接触导体46和48与该排中相邻的一对接触件(未示出)产生相似的接触),主干部42将偏移更多,以便与保护器件引线40分开。
如图8所示,一系列肋片(如80)装在每对接触件30和31的主干部如42和43之间,延伸到长度为主体部分11的宽度。每个肋片(80)包括与外壳上表面槽口17对准的沟道81,和与外壳下表面槽口18对准的沟道82(图中,部分看不到)。每个沟道81或82夹紧插入对应槽口17或18的引线(图6-7的40或41)的一部分。
应该知道,沟道81和82可防止引线41和40在插入时弯曲,从而防止主干部42和43过分偏移,过分偏移会导致主干部弯曲超过其弹性限度。此外,由于槽口17和18及对应沟道81和82可被偏移以与图4的对应触点38和39对准,所以,肋片80也可用来帮助前面描述的主干部实现所希望的偏移。
这里所描述实施例的各种变形对本领域的技术人员来说是显而易见的。如主体部分11不需要在顶部和底部开口,由所示盖帽覆盖,但可以有自己的上下表面,没有盖帽或有一个仅覆盖接触件端部的盖帽。
所以,应该知道这里所描述的连接器模块有几个优点。如,其允许电缆线(如61)与一排接触件(如31)相连,而交连线如60与模块相对表面上另一排接触件30相连。同时,用来电连接两排接触件的双接触点使得引线在一点断开前被插入另一点,从而构成先接后断接触。双接触点还允许从模块的一表面进行测试,而将保护器件安装在另一表面以提供连续的保护。

Claims (6)

1.一种连接器模块,其包括:
带有上下表面(12,13)的绝缘外壳(11,14,15);
装在外壳内的第一和第二排接触件(30,31),每个接触件包括端部(32,33)和主干部(42,43),端部能提供与对应导线(60,61)的电连接,其特征在于:
接触件的安装使第一排接触件的端部延伸贯穿上表面(12),第二排接触件的端部延伸贯穿下表面(13),第一排和第二排接触件的端部可横向位移,该上下表面包括与对应排接触件相邻的槽口(17,18),用来接入与相应接触件电接触的引线,第一排和第二排接触件的主干部在至少两个接触点(38,39)产生电接触,一个接触点(38)与上表面的槽口(17)对准,另一接触点(39)与下表面的槽口(18)对准。
2.根据权利要求1所述的连接器模块,其中每个端部通过刺穿绝缘的切口(34,35)提供电连接。
3.根据权利要求1所述的连接器模块,其中接触点(38,39)包括相应接触件主干部的隆起表面(44,45)。
4.根据权利要求3所述的连接器模块,其中隆起的表面镀有从金、银和钯中选出的材料。
5.根据权利要求3所述的连接器模块,其中每个主干部包括至少两段,其从端部以与端部的一边所成的第一角和第二角(θ1,θ2)延伸,隆起的表面位于每段的末端。
6.根据权利要求1所述的连接器模块,其中绝缘外壳包括一系列与相应接触件主干部相邻的肋片(80),其位置可防止引线与相应主干部接触时,插入槽口的引线弯曲。
