Abstract

本发明公开了一种液晶显示装置,包括:反射片;位于反射片之上的背光源;第一旋向胆甾液晶膜层,位于所述背光源的出光面一侧;TFT基板,位于所述第一旋向胆甾液晶膜层上侧;彩膜基板,位于所述TFT基板上侧;以及第二旋向胆甾液晶层,夹设于所述TFT基板和彩膜基板之间。本发明在背光源下增设反射片,对反射回来的圆偏光可以重新回收利用,增加了光效率;不需要使用偏光片,使得显示器的透过率大大提高;不需要配向膜和定向工艺,节约了工艺步骤和生产成本。

Description

液晶显示装置
技术领域
本发明涉及液晶显示技术领域,尤其涉及一种液晶显示装置。
背景技术
胆甾液晶包含着许多层分子,每层分子的排列方向相同,但相邻两层分子排列方向稍有旋转,夹角约15分,层层叠成螺旋结构,当分子的排列旋转了360°而又回到原来方向为一个螺距。按螺旋的方向,胆甾液晶又分为左旋胆甾液晶和右旋胆甾液晶,分别能够反射左旋圆偏光和右旋圆偏光。胆甾液晶的反射遵从布拉格定律:λ=n*p(n为胆甾液晶的平均折射率,p为胆甾液晶的螺距)。当胆甾液晶是具有不同螺距的一系列液晶分子时,就有可能反射整个可见光的波长段。胆甾液晶还具有双稳态性能,即不加电时可以处于平面构向(高电压后)或者焦椎构向(低电压后),加电时就会呈现竖直排列,相当于普通的VA(Vertical Alignment竖直构向)模式液晶。利用胆甾液晶的反射性能,可以制作反射型偏光片;再利用其双稳态性能,又可以实现反射式液晶显示以及透明显示。
发明内容
(一)要解决的技术问题
本发明要解决的技术问题是:提供一种采用胆甾液晶的液晶显示装置。
(二)技术方案
为解决上述问题,本发明提供了一种液晶显示装置,包括:背光源;
第一旋向胆甾液晶膜层,位于所述背光源的出光面一侧;
TFT基板,位于所述第一旋向胆甾液晶膜层上侧;
彩膜基板,位于所述TFT基板上侧;以及
第二旋向胆甾液晶层,夹设于所述TFT基板和彩膜基板之间。
优选地,所述背光源下侧设有反射面朝向所述第一旋向胆甾液晶膜层的反射片。
优选地,所述第一旋向胆甾液晶膜层为左旋胆甾液晶膜层;所述第二旋向胆甾液晶层为右旋胆甾液晶层。
或者,优选地,所述第一旋向胆甾液晶膜层为右旋胆甾液晶膜层;所述第二旋向胆甾液晶层为左旋胆甾液晶层。
优选地,所述TFT基板包括:靠近所述第一旋向胆甾液晶膜层设置的下基板以及位于所述下基板上表面的像素电极层。
优选地,所述彩膜基板包括:上基板以及依次制作于所述上基板下表面的彩膜层和公共电极层。
(三)有益效果
本发明通过胆甾液晶的反射性以及双稳态性能构成的液晶显示装置具有以下优点:
1、本发明不需要使用偏光片,使得显示器的透过率大大提高;
2、本发明背光源发出的光不会被吸收,反射后可以重新利用,光源效率大大提高,面板亮度强,节约能源;
3、本发明不需要配向膜和定向工艺,节约了工艺步骤和生产成本。

具体实施方式
下面结合附图及实施例对本发明进行详细说明如下。
如图1和图2所示,本实施例记载了一种液晶显示装置,包括:背光源1;
第一旋向胆甾液晶膜层,位于所述背光源1的出光面一侧;
TFT基板3,位于所述第一旋向胆甾液晶膜层上侧;
彩膜基板5,位于所述TFT基板3上侧;以及
第二旋向胆甾液晶层,夹设于所述TFT基板3和彩膜基板5之间。
在本实施例中所述的“上侧”均为朝向液晶显示装置观看面的一侧,所述的“下侧”均为背离液晶显示装置观看面的一侧。
在本实施例中,所述背光源1下侧设有反射面朝向所述第一旋向胆甾液晶膜层的反射片6。在本发明的其它实施例中,也可以不设置所述反射片,但是不设置反射片的实施例的光源利用率会降低。
在本实施例中,所述第一旋向胆甾液晶膜层为左旋胆甾液晶膜层2;所述第二旋向胆甾液晶层为右旋胆甾液晶层4。在本发明的其它实施例中,也可以所述第一旋向胆甾液晶膜层为右旋胆甾液晶膜层;所述第二旋向胆甾液晶层为左旋胆甾液晶层。
工作时,由背光源1发出的光包括左旋偏光和右旋偏光,根据胆甾液晶的反射特性,左旋胆甾液晶膜反射左旋偏光,透过右旋偏光。因此背光源1发出的光经过所述左旋胆甾液晶膜层2后只有右旋光透过、左旋偏光被反射,即有一半的光会透过,另外一半被左旋胆甾液晶膜层2反射。被反射的左旋偏光在反射片6处被镜面反射后返回所述左旋胆甾液晶膜层2,反射后左旋偏光变为右旋偏光,此时可以透过左旋胆甾液晶膜层2。因此,从带有反射片6的背光源1发出的光将以右旋偏光的形式从左旋胆甾液晶膜层2全部通过。
本实施例液晶显示装置在暗态时的示意图如图1所示:
右旋胆甾液晶层4处于双稳态之一的平面构向,可以反射右旋偏光。如前面所述,从背光源1发出的光经过左旋胆甾液晶膜层2后全部变成右旋偏光,因此此时所有光都会被右旋的胆甾液晶层反射而无法透过,液晶显示装置呈现暗态。
本实施例液晶显示装置在亮态时的示意图如图2所示:
对右旋胆甾液晶层4加电,右旋胆甾液晶处于垂直构向,相当于VA模式的排列。如前面所述,从背光源1发出的光经过左旋胆甾液晶膜层2后全部变成右旋偏光,该右旋偏光将全部透过右旋胆甾液晶层4,从而实现了亮态显示。
本实施例中,更为具体的,如图1和图2所示,所述TFT基板3包括:靠近所述第一旋向胆甾液晶膜层设置的下基板31以及位于所述下基板31上表面的像素电极层32。
所述彩膜基板5包括:上基板53以及依次制作于所述上基板53下表面的彩膜层52和公共电极层51。
在本实施例中所述的“上表面”为朝向液晶显示装置观看面的一侧的表面,所述的“下表面”均为背离液晶显示装置观看面的一侧的表面。
在本发明的其它实施例中,也可以根据需要在液晶显示装置中添加具有其它功能的膜层或结构。
本发明的上述实施例不需要使用偏光片,使得显示器的透过率大大提高;背光源1发出的光反射后可以重新利用,光源效率大大提高,面板亮度强,节约能源;本发明不需要配向膜和定向工艺,节约了工艺步骤和生产成本。
以上实施方式仅用于说明本发明,而并非对本发明的限制,有关技术领域的普通技术人员,在不脱离本发明的精神和范围的情况下,还可以做出各种变化和变型,因此所有等同的技术方案也属于本发明的范畴,本发明的专利保护范围应由权利要求限定。

Claims (6)

1.一种液晶显示装置,其特征在于,包括:背光源;
第一旋向胆甾液晶膜层,位于所述背光源的出光面一侧;
TFT基板,位于所述第一旋向胆甾液晶膜层上侧;
彩膜基板,位于所述TFT基板上侧;以及
第二旋向胆甾液晶层,夹设于所述TFT基板和彩膜基板之间。
2.如权利要求1所述的液晶显示装置,其特征在于,所述背光源下侧设有反射面朝向所述第一旋向胆甾液晶膜层的反射片。
3.如权利要求1或2所述的液晶显示装置,其特征在于,所述第一旋向胆甾液晶膜层为左旋胆甾液晶膜层;所述第二旋向胆甾液晶层为右旋胆甾液晶层。
4.如权利要求1或2所述的液晶显示装置,其特征在于,所述第一旋向胆甾液晶膜层为右旋胆甾液晶膜层;所述第二旋向胆甾液晶层为左旋胆甾液晶层。
5.如权利要求1所述的液晶显示装置,其特征在于,所述TFT基板包括:靠近所述第一旋向胆甾液晶膜层设置的下基板以及位于所述下基板上表面的像素电极层。
6.如权利要求1所述的液晶显示装置,其特征在于,所述彩膜基板包括:上基板以及依次制作于所述上基板下表面的彩膜层和公共电极层。
