背景技术
用作包装的基于纤维的产品必须能够保护所包装的产品免受外部影响以及经受所包装的产品的影响。实现所希望的保护的一种方式是将包装设有阻挡层。
在易腐烂产品(例如氧气敏感产品)的情况中,需要包装的氧气阻挡特征,以为包装的产品提供延长的保质期。通过限制氧气敏感产品暴露于氧气,将许多产品的质量和保质期维持并增强。例如,通过限制包装系统中的氧气敏感食品的氧气暴露,可维持食品质量并延迟损坏。另外,这种包装也使产品更久地在库,由此降低浪费和不得不重新进货的成本。
可使用例如液体和/或油脂的阻挡层以提高包装对所包装的产品的耐受性。
阻挡层通常通过以下方法形成:用给予基体阻挡性质的组合物涂覆基于纤维的基体。可取决于需要的阻挡性质施用不同的涂层。当在基于纤维的产品上形成阻挡层时,最常用的材料是聚乙烯(PE)、聚丙烯(PP)、聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯(PET)、乙烯/乙烯醇聚合物(EVOH)或乙烯/乙酸乙烯酯聚合物(EVA)。通常使用EVOH形成氧气阻挡层以及通常使用PE或PET形成液体和/或蒸气阻挡层。通常将聚合物层合或挤出贴合至基于纤维的产品。
然而,给予产品阻挡性质的聚合物层的厚度通常需要非常厚,制造这种阻挡层产品的成本非常高。
用于制造阻挡层的另一种常用材料是铝。含铝的层尤其用于改善纸或纸板产品的氧气和光的阻挡。铝层的厚度通常相当薄,经常约7-9μm。铝给予优异的阻挡性质,但是它强烈提高产品的二氧化碳载荷。而且,铝减少了回收包装的可能性。因此,制造者和最终使用者均需要在纸或纸板产品中避免使用铝层,以降低产品的二氧化碳载荷。
仍需要改善的具有阻挡性质的基于纤维的产品,其更有利于经济地制造并且其能够以低二氧化碳载荷制造。
发明内容
本发明的目的是提供改善的具有阻挡性质的基于纤维的基体。
该目的和其它优点通过权利要求1的基体实现。本发明涉及具有阻挡性质的纸或纸板基体,所述基体包含第一基于纤维的层、包含微原纤化纤维素的第二层和包含聚合物的第三层。已经证实,包含微原纤化纤维素的层和聚合物层的组合给予纸或纸板基体优异的阻挡性质。
基体的第二层优选与第一层附着,第三层优选与纸或纸板基体的第二层附着。以此方式,所述纸或纸板基体包含三个层,包含微原纤化纤维素的第二层位于第一基于纤维的层和第三聚合物层之间。
基体第三层的聚合物优选为聚乙烯或聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯。这些聚合物将给予纸或纸板基体热密封性质,以及与包含微原纤化纤维素的第二层一起给予希望的阻挡性质。
基体还可包含借助于原子层沉积(ALD)添加的第四层。第四层优选位于第二层和第三层之间。优选的是,第四层包含铝。

优选通过涂覆将第二层添加至第一层,优选通过层合或挤出贴合将第三层添加至第二层。
所述方法还可包括将第四层添加至基体。优选的是,通过使用原子层沉积(ALD)添加第四层。所述第四层优选添加在基体的第二层和第三层之间。
本发明还涉及由上述纸或纸板基体制造的包装,其中所述包装用作食物或液体包装。
具体实施方式
本发明涉及具有阻挡性质的纸或纸板基体,所述基体除了第一基于纤维的层之外还包含包含微原纤化纤维素(MFC)的第二层和包含聚合物的第三层。已经证实,包含微原纤化纤维素的层和聚合物层的组合给予纸或纸板产品优异的阻挡性质。
将包含微原纤化纤维素的层添加至第一基于纤维的层使得第一基于纤维的层的表面更致密,即,微原纤化纤维素的小尺寸使得MFC可覆盖第一基于纤维的层的表面的纤维之间的空间,其使表面致密和平滑。致密化和改善的平滑度改善包含聚合物的第三层的粘合,其提高聚合物层的平滑度,导致聚合物层的针孔或其它不规则性较少出现,尤其是在挤出贴合期间。而且,微原纤化纤维素的添加提高纸或纸板基体的表面的表面能。提高的表面能提高包含聚合物的第三层与该表面粘合的能力。因此,可不必用例如电晕处理来处理包含第二层(其包含MFC)的纸或纸板基体以粘合包含聚合物的第三层。由于聚合物层的粘合和表面平滑度均改善,所以可降低聚合物的量,即,包含聚合物的第三层的厚度。包含微原纤化纤维素的第二层的添加量可为0.1-10g/m2(按干燥计算),优选为0.5-3g/m2(按干燥计算)。包含MFC的层的较高厚度导致纸或纸板基体的表面的弹性模量改善,由此也实现较高的弯曲劲度指数。包含聚合物的第三层的厚度可为5-50gsm,优选为9-25gsm。然而,所述厚度取决于希望的纸或纸板基体的最终性质。
已经证实,包含聚合物的第三层和包含MFC的第二层的组合预料不到地给予优异的氧气阻挡性质。第一基于纤维的层的表面的致密化和聚合物层给予的耐受性的组合导致具有非常良好氧气阻挡性质的纸或纸板基体,尽管每个层本身显示差的氧气阻挡性质。而且,所述基体对液体和/或蒸气也显示良好的阻挡性质,这由包含聚合物的第三层导致。优选的是,包含聚合物的第三层也给予纸或纸板基体热密封性质,即,所述聚合物为热密封聚合物,使得容易地由制造的纸或纸板基体形成包装。而且,将MFC和聚合物层添加至基体提高了柔性并因此也提高了在纸或纸板基体的折起和折叠期间的强度。
也可在添加至第一基于纤维的层之前将第二层的微原纤化纤维素改性。以此方式可例如进一步提高表面能或改变MFC的表面电荷,以改善阻挡性质以及第三聚合物层的粘合。如何进行改性取决于希望的最终产品性质。
微原纤化纤维素(MFC)(也称为纳米纤维素)为由木质纤维素纤维制造的材料,其中使单个的微原纤维彼此之间部分或完全地分离。MFC通常非常细(~20nm),长度经常为100nm-10μm。然而,微原纤维也可更长,例如为10-100μm,但是也可使用高达200μm的长度。已被原纤化和在表面上具有微原纤维的纤维以及被分离和位于浆料水相中的微原纤维包含在MFC定义中。
MFC能够以许多不同的方式制造。可机械处理纤维素纤维,使得形成微原纤维。用细菌制造纳米纤维素或微原纤化纤维素是另一选择。也可通过破坏或溶解纤维的不同化学品和/或酶的辅助由纤维素制造微原纤维。
MFC制造的一个实例在WO2007091942中示出,其描述了通过精制与添加酶的组合的辅助制造MFC。
优选的是,第三层包含任何下列聚合物:聚乙烯(PE)、聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯(PET)、聚乙烯醇(PVOH)、聚乙酸乙烯酯(PVA)、聚丙烯(PP)和/或聚酰胺(PA)。聚合物优选给予基体热密封性质,其将改善由制造的纸或纸板基体形成的包装的密封。而且,这些所述聚合物将给予基体对液体和/或蒸气提高的阻挡性质。然而,这些聚合物本身将仅给予基体对气体如氧气非常小的耐受性或者甚至无耐受性。

所述基体还可包含第四层,所述第四层可借助于原子层沉积(ALD)添加。ALD为用于在表面上沉积薄膜的公知技术。ALD基于气相化学过程的连续使用。常使用两种化学品,通常称为前体,所述两种化学品一次一种以连续的方式与表面反应。通过将前体重复地暴露于生长表面,沉积薄膜。为了使ALD适当地工作,需要添加层的表面非常平滑。包含微原纤化纤维素的第二层的添加导致表面平滑度提高,因此可使用ALD以形成包含微原纤化纤维素的层的薄层。
第四层可位于第二层和第三层之间。优选的是,第四层包含铝,但是也可使用其它组分,例如二氧化钛,其也将提高纸或纸板基体的不透明度。以此方式,因此可向纸或纸板基体提供例如氧化铝的非常薄的层,优选以Al2O3的形式。氧化铝层给予纸或纸板基体甚至进一步改善的氧气以及蒸气耐受性质,其对于一些产品而言是必需的。第四层的厚度优选为0.1-100nm。降低铝层厚度的可能性将强烈降低基体的二氧化碳载荷,但是仍制造具有优异阻挡性质的纸或纸板基体。
本发明还涉及制造具有阻挡性质的纸或纸板基体的方法,其中所述方法包括以下步骤:提供第一基于纤维的层,添加包含微原纤化纤维素的第二层和添加包含聚合物的第三层。第二层优选添加至第一层,以及第三层优选添加至第二层。
优选地,将包含MFC的层通过任何常规涂覆技术涂覆,优选湿法涂覆至基于纤维的层。然而,优选使用膜压涂或浆压涂(film press or size presscoating),但是也可使用其它涂覆技术,例如幕涂、棒涂、喷涂、刮涂或干涂。也可将包含MFC的第二层作为膜添加至第一基于纤维的层。然后将包含MFC的膜层合或挤出贴合至第一层上。
可在添加包含MFC的第二层之前或之后,用常规涂覆着色剂(其优选包含矿物质,例如粘土、碳酸钙或任何其它已知涂料)涂覆第一基于纤维的层。常规涂覆着色剂的涂覆可通过任何已知涂覆技术进行。
优选将包含聚合物的第三层作为膜添加至纸或纸板基体。可将所述膜层合或挤出贴合至纸或纸板基体。
也可将第四层添加至基体。优选地,通过使用原子层沉积(ALD)添加第四层。第四层优选添加在基体的第二层和第三层之间。
也可向纸或纸板基体添加另外的层。例如,可将另外的聚合物层(第五层)添加在第三聚合物层上。另一种可能性是,将乙烯/乙烯醇聚合物(EVOH)的层添加至基体的第二层和第三层之间。这种EVOH层将优选为薄的。以此方式,将制造对氧气具有提高的阻挡性质的基体。
本发明还涉及通过折起和折叠所制造的纸或纸板基体而形成的包装。所述包装将对液体、蒸气和氧气具有优异耐受性,因此将适于形成用于包装食物和/或液体的包装。
本申请使用的“聚合物”可用于表示均聚物、共聚物、互聚物、三元共聚物等。
第一基于纤维的层可包含任何种类的纤维素纤维,例如硬木或软木纤维,可对这些纤维实施化学,化学-机械和/或机械处理。第一层也可包含普通造纸添加剂,例如填料,以提高例如流动性以及方法和所制造基体的成本效率。
第二、第三和/或第四层的添加可在造纸造板机中在线进行,或者离线进行。
可将第一基于纤维的层的另一表面(即,未涂有包含MFC的层的表面)用任何适合的涂层涂覆或者以任何适合的方式处理,以实现良好的表面性质,尤其是良好的印刷性质,由于这个表面经常为所形成包装的外表面。
基体优选为纸或板产品。然而,也可使用其它产品,例如织物、塑料等。
实施例
使用Cupforma Classic 230gsm的片材作为基于纤维的层,其为漂白SBS杯板(cup board),包含三层漂白硫酸盐纸浆。
使用实验室棒式涂布机,将一片在顶面上涂有两层微原纤化纤维素。涂覆到纸板上的MFC的总量为1.2gsm(按干燥计算)。
MFC由充分漂白的具有高纤维素含量的亚硫酸盐软木纸浆制备,将其羧甲基化至DS为0.05-0.1,然后通过使3%稠度的纸浆先后通过400μm室和100μm室(其中形成使用的MFC)而流体化(Microfluidizer,Microfuidicscorp.)。
然后在全尺寸层合机(full scale laminator)中通过使所述片材与基片附着,将纸板片材(涂有MFC的和未处理过的)在顶面上与总共24gsmPE(11+13gsm.熔融温度311/292°C.速度310m/min Borealis CA 7230)层合。
然后根据ASTM D3985-05标准针对与PE层合的片材和根据本发明涂有MFC并与PE层合的片材测量氧气传输速率。

5.权利要求4的基体,其中所述第四层位于所述第二层和所述第三层之间。
6.权利要求4-5的基体,其中所述第四层包含铝。
7.前述权利要求中的任一项的基体,其中所述基体为对抗液体、蒸气、油脂、洗涤剂、氧气或其它气体的阻挡层。
8.制造具有阻挡性质的纸或纸板基体的方法,其中所述方法包括以下步骤:
-提供第一基于纤维的层,
-添加包含0.1-10g/m2(干)微原纤化纤维素的第二层,和
-添加包含聚合物的第三层。
9.权利要求8的方法,其中将所述第二层通过涂覆添加至所述第一层,以及将所述第三层通过层压或挤出贴合添加至所述第二层。
10.权利要求8-9中的任一项的方法,其中将第四层添加至所述基体。
11.权利要求10的方法,其中所述第四层通过使用原子层沉积(ALD)添加。
12.权利要求8,10-11中的任一项的方法,其中将所述第四层添加在所述第二层和所述第三层之间。
13.由权利要求1-7中的任一项的纸或纸板基体制造的包装,其中所述包装用作食品或液体包装。
