背景技术

该粘合剂层可以通过任何已知的涂布技术被施涂到挂面纸板的表面上。这些包括,但不限于,棒式涂覆(rod coating),刮涂,幕涂,喷涂,和挤出涂覆。当纤维素绝热材料用作填料时,该粘合剂配制剂可以靠压缩空气被施涂以形成互锁纤维的毡层。另外,纤维素绝热材料可以与其它填料混合在粘合剂配制剂中并且通过已知的涂布技术来施涂。粘合剂层在干燥之后可具有约0.1-30 lb/ft3的密度范围。
任选地,所公开的纸板可包括一层以上的粘合剂层。在被施涂于挂面层表面上后,第一种粘合剂层可以被半干燥成约60-80%固体。然后,第二种粘合剂层可以施涂到第一种粘合剂层的表面上,接着是另外的挂面纸板。该组装件可以被压缩至所需的厚度。
当喷涂技术用于将粘合剂配制剂涂覆到挂面纸板表面上时,该粘合剂配制剂性能和喷涂条件可以优化,使得所得的挂面纸板的已涂覆表面具有所选择的外形结构(topography)。可以获得具有所需尺寸的山和谷的已涂覆表面。粘合剂配制剂的液滴可以凝聚以覆盖该挂面纸板的一定表面积,因此将挂面纸板之间的距离设定成一定的缝隙。当挂面纸板放置于在涂有粘合剂的挂面纸板表面的上面时,在这些挂面之间存在一些空隙,并且该粘合剂可用作填料来部分地填充在挂面纸板之间的缝隙。该粘合剂可以凝聚以覆盖总挂面纸板表面的约20-60%。
通过使用特殊设计的施涂器,粘合剂层可以作为图案被施涂到挂面纸板的表面上。该图案可包括曲线形状的粘合剂线条。该线条可以是正弦曲线形状或相对均匀地覆盖所要层压的挂面纸板的表面的无规则形状。所公开的粘合剂的此按图案施涂将会大大减少在普通的层压过程(其中纸板的整个表面被粘合剂覆盖)中所典型需要的粘合剂的量。
该粘合剂配制剂能够以线条形式被施涂到挂面纸板上,使得可以实现粘合剂层的均匀厚度。此外,施涂该线条使得在挂面纸板的表面上形成纤维状的覆盖, 提供完全的覆盖但是具有不均匀的厚度,这归因于仅仅在某些区域中相邻线条的交叉/接触。选择粘合剂性能,使得粘合剂的线条在层压之后将保留它们的形状并且在层压步骤中当施加压力以使纸板的片材贴合在一起时仅仅轻微地变形。
在施涂到挂面纸板上后,该粘合剂可以干燥到规定的水平以产生足以在成品组装阶段中维持压缩力的强度。然后将附加的挂面纸板放置在粘合剂层的表面上,并压缩至所需厚度以提供成品纸板组装件。在一个实施方案中,该挂面纸板在辊隙中被压制到比没有粘合剂的组合挂面层的预期厚度大了约20-100%的厚度。所得到的成品纸板然后被干燥。用于纸板的各种已知的干燥方法都可以用于本公开物中。这些包括,但不限于,已加热的空气,加热板,红外线,和它们的结合物。在对挂面纸板加压和加热之后,粘合剂的水分含量可以是在20-30%的范围内。
本 公开物的组合纸板具有适合于高质量印刷的表面性质并且不具有在普通瓦楞纸板的表面上明显的特征线。
另外,本公开物的组合纸板显示出优异的抓痕(scoring)性能。槽缝式施涂器用来将所公开的粘合剂配制剂的线条到挂面纸板之上。该排放强度可以优化,以在MD和CD方向上降低组合纸板的劲度。另外,在线条之间的距离和在挂面纸板上的发泡粘合剂的厚度可以进行调节,以适应(accomodate)在MD和/或CD方向上的抓痕(scores)。
表1表明,在瓦楞的组合纸板中纸芯层的密度大于或等于F,G,N和K/S型纸板的泡沫体的密度。本公开物的组合纸板的所需重量可以显著地低于普通瓦楞纸板的重量,因此降低生产成本。

在另一个实施方案中,本公开物的组合纸板包括:
(c) 第一挂面纸板;
(d) 第二挂面纸板;和

第一和第二挂面纸板可以是漂白纸板,未漂白的纸板,或它们的组合。
可以使用任何类型的粘合剂图案。例如,粘合剂的图案可以是曲线形状。此外,粘合剂线条可以是正弦波形状或相对均匀地覆盖所要层压的纸板的表面的无规则形状。
该粘合剂性能可以进行选择,以使得粘合剂的线条在挂面纸板的层压过程之后保持它们的形状,以及粘合剂线条在层压过程中当施加压力以使两个挂面纸板贴合在一起时仅仅轻微地变形。
几种已知的天然和合成粘合剂化合物可以用作本公开物中的粘合剂组分。这些包括,但不限于,淀粉,乙烯-乙酸乙烯酯聚合物(EVA),聚乙酸乙烯酯( PVAc),和聚乙烯醇(PVOH)。
任选地,该粘合剂可进一步包括硬的填料,以提供线条的附加刚性/劲度和/或降低成本。可以使用各种的填料。这些包括,但不限于,纤维素绝热材料如可从Cell-Pak LLC和Nu-Wool Company,Inc.商购的那些;木粉;锯屑;纤维素浆;人造丝纤维;合成纤维;和它们的组合。该纤维素绝热材料是从回收报纸制造的低成本产品。
与典型用于普通层压过程(其中基材的整个表面在没有空隙的情况下被粘合剂覆盖)的量相比,所公开的组合纸板可需要降低量的粘合剂。此外,与单层纸板相比,所公开的组合纸板显示出增强的弯曲劲度。
生产本公开物的组合纸板的方法可包括以下步骤:
(a) 提供粘合剂,该粘合剂包括具有约2个点至约20个点的直径范围的粘合剂线条;和
(b) 在第一挂面纸板上施涂粘合剂的图案;和
(c) 将第二挂面纸板施加到第一挂面纸板上,使得粘合剂的图案是在第一挂面纸板和第二挂面纸板之间,以提供纸板组装件。
生产组合纸板的方法可进一步包括对纸板组装件施加压力和干燥所得纸板组装件以提供所公开的组合纸板的步骤。
任选地,施涂到第一挂面纸板上的粘合剂图案可以在第二挂面纸板的施加之前被干燥,以保持在挂面纸板之间的距离。在一个实施方案中,该粘合剂图案可以部分地干燥以赋予强度,该强度维持施加在第二挂面纸板上的压缩力来完成组合纸板的组装。
该粘合剂可以具有较大的厚度和可需要大量的时间和能量来干燥。为了减少干燥能量,该粘合剂可具有在约50%-约70%范围内的百分固含量。当需要干燥能量的进一步减少时,该粘合剂可以作为一个以上的一个组分或部分被施涂。
在某些实施方案中,具有50-70%固体含量的第一种粘合剂组分可以被施涂到第一挂面纸板上,然后干燥至80-90%的固体含量。随后,第二种粘合剂组分可以施涂到已干燥的第一种粘合剂组分上。第二种粘合剂组分可包括增粘剂和可具有30-50%的固体含量。适合用于该第二粘合剂组分的增粘剂的例子可包括,但不限于,松香,松香酯,丙烯酸类树脂,脂族树脂,芳族树脂,和它们的组合。第二种粘合剂组分可以是在第一种粘合剂组分的约2%-约10%重量。
在本发明的某些实施方案中,第一种粘合剂组分可以施涂到第一挂面纸板上和然后干燥至60-80%固体的固含量。随后,第二种粘合剂组分可以施涂到半干燥的第一种粘合剂组分上。然后,第二个挂面纸板可以放置到第二种粘合剂组分上和进行压制,以提供所公开的组合纸板。
利用特殊设计的施涂器或已知的施涂器将粘合剂图案施涂到第一挂面纸板上。任选地,在第一挂面纸板和第二挂面纸板之间的距离可以设定在所选择的高度。
在某些实施方案中,粘合剂的图案可以被喷涂到第一挂面纸板上,使得涂覆的表面拥有具有所需尺寸的山和谷的复杂外形结构,该尺寸取决于粘合剂配制剂性能,以及施涂器/喷涂的条件和因素。
在某些实施方案中,施涂到第一挂面纸板上的粘合剂图案可包括峰/谷图案。第二挂面纸板可位于已涂覆表面的峰上,在两个挂面纸板和粘合剂之间留下一些空隙。
在某些实施方案中,该粘合剂线条可以凝聚以覆盖第一挂面纸板的总表面的约20%-约60%。

Claims (20)

1.组合纸板,包括:
第一纸板;
第二纸板;和
包括粘合剂配制剂的线条图案,该线条具有约2个点至约20个点的直径范围,该粘合剂配制剂包括粘合剂组分和任选包括发泡组分和填料的至少一种;
其中第一纸板和第二纸板通过线条的图案被粘合在一起,和
其中在第一和第二纸板之间没有瓦楞纸芯层。
2.组合纸板,包括:
第一纸板;
第二纸板;
粘合剂配制剂的层,该粘合剂配制剂包括粘合剂组分、发泡组分和填料;
其中第一纸板和第二纸板利用粘合剂配制剂被粘合在一起,和
其中在第一和第二纸板之间没有瓦楞纸芯层。
3.权利要求1或2的纸板,其中粘合剂组分包括选自淀粉、乙烯-乙酸乙烯酯聚合物,聚乙酸乙烯酯,聚乙烯醇,和它们的组合的材料。

12.权利要求11的方法,进一步包括在至少部分地干燥该线条之后和在施加第二纸板之前施涂第二种粘合剂组分的步骤。
13.权利要求10的方法,其中在干燥该纸板组装件之后,粘合剂的图案保持与最初施涂到第一纸板上的图案基本上相同的形状。
14.权利要求9的方法,其中粘合剂配制剂包括粘合剂组分和任选的至少一种的发泡组分和填料。
15.生产组合纸板的方法,包括以下步骤:
在第一纸板的表面上施涂粘合剂配制剂的层,该粘合剂配制剂包括粘合剂组分、发泡组分和填料;
将第二纸板放置在粘合剂配制剂的层上以提供组合的纸板组装件;
对组合的纸板组装件施加压力;和
干燥该纸板组装件。
16.权利要求9-15中任何一项的方法,其中粘合剂配制剂覆盖第一纸板的总表面积的约20%-约60%。
