因为LCD自身不发光,所以在LCD的背面使用向LCD提供光的背光单元。
虽然作为背光单元的冷阴极荧光灯(CCFL)直到现在都被用作光源,但是发光二极管(LED)近来变得广泛使用。
LED被用作LCD的背光单元,并且还被用作各种需要光的电子装置和照明装置的光源单元。

参照图1和图2,照明装置包括第一基板10以及安装到第一基板10的第二基板20。
第一基板10包括:具有第一连接器11的第一连接器单元16;在第一方向上从第一连接器单元16延伸的延伸单元17;以及在与第一方向垂直的第二方向上从延伸单元17延伸的连接单元18。
在第一连接器单元16处形成多个第一连接器11和第一连接端子12,在每个连接单元18处形成第一连接端子12。此外,形成线路(未示出)以便将第一连接器单元16的第一连接器11与第一连接端子12电连接。
在连接单元18处设置多个第一连接端子12。
第一连接器11连接到外部电源或驱动装置,第一连接端子12通过第一连接器11电连接到外部电源或驱动装置。
延伸单元17和连接单元18构成第二基板安置部分19,第二基板安置部分19是可安置第二基板20的空间。

还可以将从另一个第二基板20发射的光的亮度调整为值50。
因此,根据该照明装置的目的,可以适当地控制照明装置的总亮度或部分亮度。
另一方面,第一基板10与第二基板20可以通过安置元件40更牢固地耦合。安置元件40可以是粘合剂或粘合带,还可以是用于安置的其它装置。
根据该照明装置,因为具有发光装置21的第二基板20被安装到第一基板10,所以在发光装置21或第二基板20中存在缺陷的情况下可以只替换有缺陷的第二基板20。因此,可以容易修理照明装置而无困难。
此外,根据一个实施例的照明装置可通过一个第二基板20控制发光装置21,并且还可基于电路设计单独地控制包含在一个第二基板20中的发光装置21。
此外,第一基板10和第二基板20在竖直方向上不交叠。亦即,第一基板10和第二基板20设置在同一水平面上。因此,散热特性变得非常好。
另一方面,第一基板10可以通过图3中的第二连接器30电连接到第二基板20。此外,第一基板10和第二基板20可以通过第二连接器30更牢固地耦合。将参照图3对第二连接器30进行更详细的描述。

第一基板,所述第一基板包括第一连接器、第一连接端子、第一连接器单元、延伸单元和连接单元,所述第一连接器连接到外部电源或驱动装置,所述第一连接器单元包括所述第一连接器,所述延伸单元在第一方向上从所述第一连接器单元延伸,所述连接单元在垂直于所述第一方向的第二方向上从所述延伸单元延伸,所述第一连接端子电连接到所述第一连接器;以及
第二基板,所述第二基板电连接到所述第一连接端子并且包括发光装置。

12.如权利要求2所述的照明装置,其中每个所述第二基板电连接到所述第一基板。
13.如权利要求2所述的照明装置,其中单独的驱动信号从所述第一基板被施加于所述第二基板。
