背景技术
TV制造商可能希望提供具有内置交互设备(例如，个人视频记录器(PVR)、光盘播放器(诸如蓝光光盘播放器)以及数字视频光盘(DVD)播放器等)的TV，以使得顾客便利地仅需要购买在单个无缝系统中具有交互设备的TV。如本受让人所认识到的，更期望为TV提供一种模块形式的交互设备，使得在能够得到新的和经过升级的交互设备时，可以通过将旧的模块替换为新的模块来升级TV系统，而不需要购买全新的TV系统。

发明内容

如果期望的话，可以邻近与网络状态相关的图标来显示文字消息。在非限制性实施例中，信息表示以下内容：是否尝试与网络连接；和/或正在互联网上检查更新；和/或正在进行与网络上的资源的认证；和/或正在从互联网获取服务；和/或所获取的服务正在从互联网上取回以将其显示在TV上。
优选地，图标在没有用户交互作用的状态下，根据网络状态动态地更新。因此，图标在没有网络通信存在时可以具有第一外观，并且在网络通信存在时具有第二外观。在一些实施例中，第一外观仅在网络线缆插入TV或者其互联网模块时可见，并且图标在线缆拔出时完全不显示。
在另一个方面，一种计算机处理器可读的有形数字存储介质，其用于：将用户界面显示在TV屏幕上，并允许用户通过操作遥控器来选择界面上的项目。互联网状态图标仅在检测到互联网连接时才显示在界面上。图标表示是否可以通过TV来从互联网获取音频-视频内容。

具体实施方式
首先参照图1，示出了主要由10来表示的系统，其包括具有TV处理器14和有形的数字存储介质16的TV 12，数字存储介质16可以但不限于是磁盘或光盘驱动器、固态装置(诸如，随机存取存储器或只读存储器或闪存)、可移动棒介质或可移动软盘等。如图所示，介质16和处理器14可以和显示器18(例如但不限于高清(HD)矩阵显示器或标清阴极射线管显示器)一起储存在TV壳体中，或者，处理器14和/或介质16可以在TV壳体的外部，即，在机顶盒中或在以下讨论的模块中。
TV 12通常包括无线接收器，例如但不限于用于接收来自具有无线发射器(例如但不限于具有IR发射器24)的手持遥控器22的无线信号的IR接收器20。遥控器22中的处理器26可以根据本领域公知的原理来接收来自可以由用户操作的键盘阵列28的输入，其中可以由用户操作的键盘阵列28使得发送器24将无线信号(包括使显示器18上的光标移动的光标控制信号)发送到TV 12。

如图2所示，当在XMB上选择“互联网”时，网络状态图标46可以显示在竖直条44上。同样，紧邻网络状态图标46，可以显示与网络状态相关的文字消息48。在非限制性实施中，文字消息48可以如所示地表示是否正在尝试与网络连接，并且可以包括任务可能消耗的时间的报告。消息48也可以显示正在网络上检查更新、正在进行与网络的认证、正在从网络获取服务以及所获取的服务正在从网络取回。
根据本原理，状态图标46在没有用户交互作用的状态下，根据网络状态动态地更新。例如，当没有网络通信存在时，图标46可以为红色，反之，在与一个服务器38建立通信时，图标46可以呈现绿色。可以使用其他的外观变化。但是，例如在将模块32连接到互联网插座的网络线缆没有插入时，状态图标46也可以根本不显示在显示器18上。因此，在上述非限制性示例中，状态图标46仅在模块32连接到互联网时出现，并且在与服务器38建立良好的认证通信之前将会呈现红色，并在与服务器38建立良好的认证通信时，图标46转为绿色。

Claims (11)

1.一种方法，包括：
在TV屏幕(18)上提供可导航的图形用户界面(GUI)(40)，通过用户操作遥控器(22)来选择显示在所述TV(12)上的音频-视频内容，所述GUI(40)可以进行导航；并且
在所述可导航的GUI(40)上提供网络状态图标(46)，所述网络状态图标(46)表示是否可以从所述TV(12)访问广域计算机网络来获得音频-视频内容。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法，包括显示文字消息，所述文字消息邻近所述图标(46)并且与网络状态相关。
3.根据权利要求2所述的方法，其中，所述消息表明是否正在尝试与所述网络连接。
4.根据权利要求2所述的方法，其中，所述消息表明正在所述网络上检查更新。
5.根据权利要求2所述的方法，其中，所述消息表明正在进行与所述网络的认证。
6.根据权利要求2所述的方法，其中，所述消息表明正从所述网络获取服务。
7.根据权利要求2所述的方法，其中，所述消息表明正从所述网络取回所获取的服务，以将所述所获取的服务显示在所述TV(12)上。
8.根据权利要求1所述的方法，其中，所述图标(46)在没有用户交互作用的状态下，根据网络状态动态地更新。
9.根据权利要求1所述的方法，其中，所述图标(46)在网络通信不存在时具有第一外观，并且在网络通信存在时具有第二外观。
10.根据权利要求9所述的方法，其中，所述第一外观仅在网络线缆插入所述TV(12)或者插入所述TV(12)的互联网模块中时可见，所述图标(46)在所述线缆拔出时完全不显示。
11.一种计算机处理器(14)可读的有形数字存储介质(16)，其用于：
将用户界面(40)显示在TV屏幕(18)上；
允许用户通过操作遥控器(22)来选择所述界面(40)上的项目；并且
仅在探测到互联网连接时将互联网状态图标(46)显示在所述界面上，所述图标(46)表明是否可以通过所述TV(12)来从所述互联网访问音频-视频内容。
