Description

背光单元及装有该背光单元的液晶显示器
本申请要求于2008年10月7日递交的韩国专利申请10-2008-0097994的优先权,在此援引该专利申请的全部内容作为参考。
技术领域
本发明涉及一种背光单元,尤其涉及一种提高了可靠性的背光单元及装有该背光单元的液晶显示器(LCD)。
背景技术
用于电脑显示器或电视机的显示设备包括如有机发光显示器(OLED)、真空荧光显示器(VFD)、场发射显示器(FED)和等离子体显示面板(PDP)的自发光设备,与如液晶显示器(LCD)的非自发光设备。一般的LCD设备包括具有电场产生电极的两个基板和绝缘各向异性且插入在基板之间的液晶层。当施加电压给电场产生电极时,在液晶层中会产生电场。通过改变电压来调整电场的强度。这样,通过控制穿过液晶层的光的透射率来显示所需的图像。
LCD设备包括从外部接收图像数据、产生各个像素的数据信号并将产生的数据信号提供给LCD面板的数据线的数据驱动器,产生用于逐行地驱动LCD面板的像素的栅极信号并将产生的栅极信号提供给LCD面板的各个栅极线的栅极驱动器,和放置在LCD面板的背面并提供光的背光单元。
将冷阴极荧光灯(CCFL)、外部电极荧光灯(EEFL)或者发光二极管(LED)用作通常的背光单元的光源。近期,由于如高发光效率、微型化的能力和低功率消耗的优点,LED被广泛地应用为背光单元的光源。
在具有LED的背光单元中,将印刷电路板(PCB)或柔性印刷电路板(FPC)布置在背光单元的内侧。在PCB或FPC上安装多个LED。LED分别是发射红色、绿色和蓝色光的红色LED、绿色LED和蓝色LED的组合。由于如上设置的背光单元提供混合有红色、绿色和蓝色光的白光到LCD面板,所以需要控制分别发射红色、绿色和蓝色光的红色、绿色和蓝色LED。
发明内容
因此,本发明涉及一种背光单元,其基本上避免了由于现有技术的限制和不足所导致的一个或多个问题。
本发明的实施的一个目的是提供一种提高了可靠性的背光单元。
在下面的描述中将列出本发明的其它特征和优点,且根据下面的描述这些特征和优点的一部分将是显而易见的,或者可以从本发明的实施领会到。通过说明书、权利要求书以及附图中特别指出的结构可以实现和获得本发明的这些优点。
根据本发明的一个总体的方面,一种背光单元包括:主支撑体,由具有矩形框架形状的模具形成;多个LED,布置在主支撑体的一侧;导光板,平行于多个LED布置,将点光源转换为面光源;光学敏感单元,布置在主支撑体的另一侧,检测从多个LED发出的光;以及光入射孔,在对应于光学敏感单元的主支撑体的另一侧形成,通过改变光的路径引导从导光板发出的光使其射向光学敏感单元。
根据本发明的另一个总体的方面,一种LCD设备包括:LCD面板;主支撑体,由与LCD面板的下侧的边缘相对应的模具形成;多个LED,布置在主支撑体的侧面;导光板,平行于多个LED布置,将点光源转换为面光源;光学敏感单元,布置在主支撑体的另一侧,检测从多个LED发出的光;以及光引导孔,在对应于光学敏感单元的主支撑体的另一侧形成,通过改变光的路径引导从导光板发出的光使其射向光学敏感单元。

图1是根据本发明实施例的LCD设备的分解透视图。图2是图1中A部分的放大透视图,表示主支撑体的细节。如图1和2所示,根据本实施例的LCD设备包括用于显示图像的LCD面板110和放置在LCD面板110的背面且提供光给LCD面板110的背光单元120。
虽然未在图中具体示出,但是LCD面板110包括组合在一起、彼此相对并保持两者之间均匀液晶盒间隙的薄膜晶体管(TFT)阵列基板与滤色器基板以及插入在TFT阵列基板与滤色器基板之间的液晶层。在LCD面板110的侧面另外提供用于驱动TFT阵列基板的驱动器(未示出)。
背光单元120包括矩形框架形状的主支撑体140、放置在主支撑体140的内侧的光源单元150、平行于光源单元150被放置以将点光源转换为面光源的导光板160、放置在导光板160上以会聚和散射光的多个光学片130以及放置在导光板160的下表面以反射向下射向导光板160的光以使其射向LCD面板110的反射片170。背光单元120进一步包括对着光源单元150放置在主支撑体140的另一侧以检测从光源单元150发出的光的光学敏感单元190。
背光单元120进一步包括通过包围主支撑体140的边缘和下表面而耦联至主支撑体140的底盖180。光源单元150包括面向导光板160的一个侧面的PCB 153和安装在PCB 153上的多个LED 151。
尽管在本实施例中描述了PCB 153,但是并不限于上述描述的是,作为替代,可以使用柔性印刷电路板(FPC)。可以在主支撑体140一侧的上部布置PCB 153或FPC。FPC是通过在柔性绝缘膜上形成复杂电路来形成的电路板。FPC由柔软的材料形成,即例如聚酯(PET)或聚酰亚胺(PI)的耐热塑料膜。
LED 151分别发射红色、绿色和蓝色的光。可以单独地驱动发射红色、绿色和蓝色的光的LED 151。
主支撑体140由具有对应于LCD面板110的下边缘的矩形框架形状的模具形成,且容纳光源单元150、导光板160和反射片170。尽管在本实施例中光学片130被布置在主支撑体140上,但是并不限于上述描述的是,光学片130可以被容纳在主支撑体140中。
在主支撑体140的一侧容纳光源单元150而在主支撑体140的另一侧的上表面上布置光学敏感单元190。在相对的位置彼此相对地布置光源单元150和光学敏感单元190。
用于固定光学敏感单元190的固定突出部143在对应于光学敏感单元190的主支撑体140的另一侧的上表面上沿着从主支撑体140的内侧表面到主支撑体140的内部的方向突出。通过固定光学敏感单元190的FPC的一侧,固定突出部143防止了光学敏感单元190从主支撑体140脱落。
在对应于光学敏感单元190的主支撑体140的另一侧形成光入射孔141a,以使光可以入射到光学敏感单元190。光入射孔141a与一部分光学敏感单元190重叠。光入射孔141a引导从导光板160发出的部分光射向光学敏感单元190。虽然没有在图中具体示出,但是光入射孔141a的内侧表面有至少两个具有不同倾角的倾斜面。
光学敏感单元190检测由主支撑体140的光入射孔141a引导的光以纠正从导光板160发出的光的颜色。即光学敏感单元190检测从导光板160发出的光,以使背光单元120可以向LCD面板110发射白光。同时,背光驱动单元(未示出)控制分别发射红色、绿色和蓝色光的LED 151。
导光板160被平行于LED 151放置并转换从各个LED 151发射的点光源为面光源。光学片130包括至少一个散射片、至少一个聚光片和至少一个保护片。反射片170反射从导光板160发出的光使其射向LCD面板110,从而提高背光单元120的发光效率。
下面参看图3和4详细地描述根据本实施例的主支撑体140的结构。图3是沿图2中的线I-I’的截面图,表示图1中的背光单元120。图4是表示对应于光学敏感单元190的主支撑体140的另一侧的上表面的透视图。
参看图3和4,在背光单元120中,在主支撑体140的另一侧形成光入射孔141a,以及在对应于光入射孔141a的区域放置光学敏感单元190。光学敏感单元190包括柔性印刷电路板(FPC)193和安装在FPC 193的下表面的光敏元件191。
光敏元件191可以是光电二极管或是光电晶体管,或者可以包括任何能够检测光的灵敏元件。光入射孔141a提供光的路径以使从导光板160发出的光可以入射到光敏元件191。
在对应于导光板160的侧面的光入射孔141a的内侧表面提供以彼此不同的角度倾斜的多个第一到第三倾斜面145a、145b和145c。第一到第三倾斜面145a、145b和145c引导从导光板160发出的光使其在光敏元件191上会聚。在图3中用箭头表示的从导光板160发出的光线被光入射孔141a中的第一到第三倾斜面145a、145b和145c反射以射向光学敏感单元190。尽管在本实施例中描述的光入射孔141a具有第一到第三倾斜面145a、145b和145c,但是并不限于上述描述的是,也可以实施为具有至少两个倾斜面的任意结构。
固定突出部143从对应于光学敏感单元190的主支撑体140的边缘的侧面向主支撑体140的内部突出。在对应于形成固定突出部143的区域的主支撑体140的侧面形成其中插入有光学敏感单元190的FPC 193的容纳部分144。容纳部分144由固定突出部143的下表面和主支撑体140的侧面形成,用于防止FPC 193沿z-z’方向移动。
由于一部分FPC 193被插入到容纳部分144中,在主支撑体140上固定了本实施例的光学敏感单元190。在本实施例中,因为在主支撑体140中提供了容纳部分144和固定突出部143以稳固地固定光学敏感单元190,因此可以防止光学敏感单元190从主支撑体140脱落。
如上所述,在根据本发明的LCD设备中,由于在上述实施例中,在对应于光学敏感单元190的主支撑体140的一侧的边角区域中形成的光入射孔141a的侧面提供了至少两个具有不同倾角的倾斜面,即倾斜面145a、145b和145c,从导光板160发出的光被引导以会聚在光学敏感单元190上,从而提高了光的检测的可靠性。
因此,本发明提高了背光单元的光的检测的可靠性,从而控制了红色、绿色和蓝色的光的混合。所以,提高了用于控制从背光单元发出的白光的颜色纠正值的可靠性。
对本领域的技术人员来说显而易见的是,在本发明中可以进行各种修改和各种变化。因此本发明意在覆盖所附权利要求书及其等效物范围内提供的修改和变化的实施方式。

Claims (9)

1.一种背光单元,包括:
主支撑体,由具有矩形框架形状的模具形成;
多个LED,布置在所述主支撑体的一侧;
导光板,导光板的一个侧面布置成平行于所述多个LED的出光面,所述导光板将点光源转换为面光源;
光学敏感单元,布置在所述主支撑体的另一侧的框体内,检测从所述多个LED发出的光;以及
光入射孔,在对应于所述光学敏感单元的所述主支撑体的另一侧的框体内形成,通过改变所述光的路径引导从所述导光板发出的光以使其射向所述光学敏感单元。
2.根据权利要求1所述的背光单元,其中在对应于所述导光板的侧面的所述光入射孔的内侧表面被提供了具有不同倾角的至少两个倾斜面。
3.根据权利要求2所述的背光单元,其中所述光入射孔与所述光学敏感单元重叠。
4.如权利要求1所述的背光单元,进一步包括:固定突出部,从对应于所述光学敏感单元的所述主支撑体的另一侧向所述主支撑体的内侧突出,以固定所述光学敏感单元的柔性印刷电路板。
5.如权利要求4所述的背光单元,其中在所述固定突出部下方形成了插入所述柔性印刷电路板的容纳部分。
6.一种LCD设备,包括:
LCD面板;
主支撑体,由与所述LCD面板的下侧的边缘相对应的模具形成;
多个LED,布置在所述主支撑体的一侧;
导光板,导光板的一个侧面布置成平行于所述多个LED的出光面,所述导光板将点光源转换为面光源;
光学敏感单元,布置在所述主支撑体的另一侧的框体内,检测从所述多个LED发出的光;以及
光引导孔,在对应于所述光学敏感单元的所述主支撑体的另一侧的框体内形成,通过改变所述光的路径引导从所述导光板发出的光使其射向所述光学敏感单元。
7.根据权利要求6所述的LCD设备,其中在对应于所述导光板的侧面的所述光入射孔的内侧表面被提供了具有不同倾角的至少两个倾斜面。
8.根据权利要求6所述的LCD设备,进一步包括:固定突出部,从对应于所述光学敏感单元的所述主支撑体的另一侧向所述主支撑体的内侧突出,以固定所述光学敏感单元的柔性印刷电路板。
9.根据权利要求8所述的LCD设备,其中在所述固定突出部下方形成了插入所述柔性印刷电路板的容纳部分。
