Abstract

本发明通常涉及网络可用性。特别地,本发明涉及确定计算机网络的可用性。
发明背景
监控服务器和网络能工作时间(up time)在市场中很关键。不能工作时间(down time)意味着损失收入和被给定依赖这些网络和服务器的生产力。许多网站和互连网服务运营商可能意识到总的停机,但可能不具有对本地连通性问题的可见性,该本地连通性问题包括但不仅限于互连网服务提供商(ISP)停机,大客户站点的内联网故障,区域性停机,以及被内联网连接的设备之间的虚拟专用网(VPN)连接的损失。因此,需要能够从更加本地化的角度来确定服务质量以用于关键网络服务的需要。特别地,需要确定网络连通性是否可用,并且如果不可用则发送警报。
发明内容
本发明有利地提供了一个发送安全、可靠和补充的因特网和数字通信的系统。本发明的解决方案将因特网服务和全球移动通信系统(GSM)结合用于增加的可靠性和特别的安全等级,提供真实冗余和多路径消息发送。
本发明的用于确定计算机网络的可用性的系统和方法,包括可操作以使用互连网通信和使用GSM连接至多个服务的装置,所述多个服务至少包括该计算机网络和告警服务和/或中央服务器,其中该装置尝试使用该互连网通信连接至计算机网络,并且如果该装置在预定值例如时间量或尝试次数内连接失败,则该装置使用GSM通知告警服务和/或中央服务器连接失败。在一个实施例中,在该装置通知告警服务和/或中央服务器连接失败后,该装置继续尝试连接计算机网络,并且如果该装置在另一个预定值内连接,则该装置通知告警服务和/或中央服务器服务恢复。

具体实施方式
附图1是本发明系统的示意性说明,该系统包括具有互连网通信或互连网连接能力12和双GSM技术14的装置10。互连网通信12提供了到互连网和/或诸如由公司使用来进行商业的商业系统的各种内联网的连接能力。直接或者通过网关连接到互连网的以太网连接可以作为互连网通信12来使用。有线以太网连接作为互连网连接能力12能够监控互连网上和一个或多个内联网上的连通性。双GSM技术能够包括GPRS(通用分组无线服务)和SMS(短消息服务),且GSM路径可以利用GPRS,并且如果GPRS不可用,可自动切换到SMS。装置10还具有可编程“探测(probing)”算法16和定时器或计数器18。
本发明的系统进一步包括计算机网络和/或互连网服务20和告警服务22,以及能够从装置10向告警服务22发送作为电子邮件消息的告警消息或电子邮件的电子邮件消息发送服务24。在可替换实施例中,电子邮件可以直接从装置10发送到告警服务22。典型地,电子邮件是使用GSM技术14而发送的。互连网服务20可以包括一个或多个互连网服务提供商(ISP)。告警服务22可以是有人操作的位置,例如MIS帮助桌面(help desk)、调度服务或典型的告警中央站。告警服务22处的人员将按通知行动。
如下所述中央服务器26还可被提供用于累计失败信息,并如下所述执行通知功能。在一个实施例中,中央服务器26可以是无人操作的调度或路由服务器,其提供警报路由到告警服务22,或到管理的电子邮件/传呼/通知服务。进一步地,中央服务器26可以保存可以通过报告和网络工具取回的性能数据。
本发明的装置10可以位于连通性是关键的但是零星的位置。如上所述,装置10使用无线网络或GSM技术14来报告连接失败。这允许装置10报告本地IP连接是否是不可用的,即完全停机,或者报告在没有所要求的互连网连通性处是否需要监控内联网资源(未示出)。
现在根据图1中所示的系统参考图2描述本发明装置10的操作。在初始化时,计数器18在步骤S1被设置或初始化,而装置10尝试连接到互连网服务20或内联网资源。该连接的尝试在步骤S2周期性地持续,即装置10的探测算法16尝试连接互连网服务20,并且只要连接成功(S2=是),操作正在进行,因此,重复步骤S2。
如果装置10连接失败(S2=否),则计数器18在步骤S3中增加。在步骤S4中检查计数器18的值。如果计数器大于预定值,例如超时值或最大尝试数值,(S4=是),则超过预定数或者时间范围,并报告连接失败。这种情况下,在步骤S5,执行通知功能。在一个实施例中,通知功能由装置10执行,其通过告警服务22生成告警,或生成将通过电子邮件直接转发或通过管理的电子邮件消息发送服务24而间接转发的电子邮件消息。在执行通知功能后,中央服务器26可以被通知连接失败,如下所述可以收集失败信息,并且计数器18可以被重置。在另一个实施例中,中央服务器26执行通知功能。
另外,如果计数器小于或等于预定值(S4=否),控制返回到步骤S2,并且装置10再次检查连接。
在执行失败的通知后,装置10尝试确定是否服务恢复。在步骤S6,装置10尝试连接到互连网服务20。如果装置10没有连接(S6=否),其继续周期性地检查连接,因此,重复步骤S6。
如果装置10成功连接(S6=是),计数器18在步骤S7增加。在步骤S8中检查计数器18的值,并且如果计数器18的值大于预定值(S8=是),在步骤S9执行报告成功连接的通知过程。例如,发送服务恢复通知,并且计数器18被重置。另外,如下所述,恢复信息可以被收集。
然而如果计数器18小于或等于预定值,(S8=否),则控制返回到步骤S6,并且装置10再次检查连接。
存在通知的多种选项。一种选项是装置10可以具有“邮递列表”以便用SMS或电子邮件来通知该编程列表中的接收者。在另一选项中,装置10可以与中央服务器26协同工作,该中央服务器26可以基于来自多个位置和用户爱好的数据智能地对通知做出决定。
关于连通性的信息可以被维持,例如在日志中或位于中央服务器26的数据库中。该信息可以包括失败信息和恢复信息。例如,可以保存该失败信息和/或恢复信息,诸如装置10的位置、其预定超时值、连接失败和/或恢复的当日时间等。合并这些来自各种连接点的数据将可以提供对于在各种位置的受监控站点的良好质量的服务测量。连通性统计可以随着失败和恢复通知而定期发送给中央服务器26。该中央服务器26将基于用户爱好来组合来自各种位置的信息以基于多个保存于中央服务器26中的各种项目来生成报告,所述项目例如网络体系结构、位置、ISP、服务类型等。在一个实施例中,用户将能够链接位置、设置爱好度量和/或相对独立装置映射相关的装置。

Claims (4)
1、用于确定计算机网络可用性的系统,包括:
可操作的使用互连网通信和使用GSM来连接到多个服务的装置,所述多个服务至少包括该计算机网络,和
告警服务,其中该装置尝试使用互连网通信连接到计算机网络,并且如果装置在预定值内连接失败,则该装置使用GSM通知告警服务连接失败。
2、用于确定计算机网络可用性的系统,包括:
可操作的使用互连网通信和使用GSM来连接到多个服务的装置,所述多个服务至少包括该计算机网络,和
中央服务器,其中该装置尝试使用互连网通信连接到该计算机网络,并且如果装置在预定值内连接失败,则该装置使用该GSM通知中央服务器连接失败。
3、用于确定计算机网络可用性的方法,包括:
尝试使用互连网通信连接到计算机网络,和
