优选斑点(speckle)颗粒的平均粒径为0.8mm到3.0mm。更优选平均粒径为1.0mm到2.0mm。
为改善颗粒在洗涤液体中的分散速度,在颗粒中包括与粘土混合的水溶性助洗剂盐是有利的。优选的物质是三聚磷酸钠(sodiumtripolyphosphate)(STP),并且其优选与粘土矿物以粘土∶STP为1∶2到5∶1的比例混合,最优选大约1∶1。
粘土矿物

聚合物涂层
斑点颗粒可以任选具有水溶性聚合物涂层。这可以有助于防止在存储和加工过程中因云母颜料离开粘土而降低斑点效果。涂层可以是聚乙烯醇或微晶纤维素。我们已经发现,对于STP含量较低或者不含STP的颗粒来说,优选微晶纤维素,而当STP以最优量使用时,优选聚乙烯醇。这样选择得到了快速分散和良好涂层结合性的所需组合。
不希望被任何具体理论所限制,相信聚合物涂层渗入粘土载体的孔中并且将其自身固定在斑点的表面上。
斑点的生产方法
尽管许多方法可以用于制造斑点,我们已经发现一种特别有利的方法,在使用合适的组合物时,该方法能够以高收率得到具有需要的粒径、耐用性和可分散性的干燥且良好涂布的颗粒。
在该方法中,将干组分预混约1分钟。这包括云母颜料、膨润土粘土和可溶性STP助洗剂盐。已经发现具有多个喷头的双锥混合器对于该方法是理想的。在将干组分预混之后,在压力下向颗粒上喷洒任选的涂料材料稀溶液(或水)约25分钟,然后将混合物进一步混合几分钟,得到斑点颗粒。
洗涤剂成分
