Abstract

背景技术
气相试样的化学状态由与周围介质,典型地环境空气,混合的汽化或气态化学物种形成。代之以空气,介质能是处理气体或真空。探测器用来探测和分辨在限定周围介质中的限定化学物种。

在可携带装置中并且优选地在手持尺寸的装置中应用GC方法,要求功率消耗低、重量轻及尺寸紧凑并且具有快速探测同时通过高分离能力保持高分辨率的装置。至今,可携带装置的改进主要涉及高柱温度的使用以及温度控制和加热系统构造的改进。此外,现有技术改进涉及载体气体流量以及特殊取样和探测系统的设计的修改。
对于可携带用途用来改进GC方法的适用性的其它途径包括较短的柱和具有较小内径的柱,以便提高分析的效率和速度。然而,这些改进将导致减小的分离,或者可选择地,它们将减小试样体积和显著增大分辨力需求,并因而增加成本和由在柱中的增大压降造成的泵尺寸。使用低试样体积的缺陷在于,它典型地导致通过探测器的减弱响应和对于试样局部变化的增大灵敏度,因而导致保持时间的较差精度。控制流体的小体积也可能是一种技术需要以及一种昂贵的方案。

然而,由于多毛细管柱典型地由几百个单毛细管柱形成,所以对于足够量的束难以用低功率消耗得到均匀的热分布,它降低GC分析的精度。
即使多毛细管GC柱促使比单一敞开管状GC柱大得多的通过柱的取样流量(或载体气体流量),用于传统多毛细管柱的相容气体流量也仍然保持低于300ml/min。在某些探测器类型中,这种流量可能仍然太低。这样的探测器例如是设置成通过直接流过原理来探测在环境空气中的气态化学物种的互连的(hyphenated)多传感器-离子迁移率频谱仪,如在参考资料WO9416320和Utriainen等(2003)中描述的那样。

根据优选实施例,本发明把一束这样的空心纤维隔膜毛细管用作在可携带化学探测器中进行化学分离的多毛细管GC柱,以改进探测器的化学特性。可携带化学探测器是手持分析器的最优选部分。空心纤维隔膜束以前已经广泛地用在工业气体分离过程、工业气体干燥器、现场气体发生器中,以及用在用来分离在液相中的成分的渗析过滤器中。空心纤维隔膜的宽广应用范围提供大制造量,并且这样利用用于像对于要求的化学探测之类的小用途的低成本元件。
隔膜毛细管的纯聚合物基结构与使用氧化硅的传统GC毛细管柱相比提供较低处理和材料成本,并且这样提供更加成本高效的方案。

本发明的另外优点在于,当使用初始对于工业干燥器设计的空心纤维隔膜束时,可得到从试样同时和选择性地消除水和其它分析不感兴趣的小分子物质。一般地说,水分认为是对于化学探测的干扰物,并且特别是在大体积流过探测器和离子迁移率频谱仪的情况下是一种担心。类似地,其它类型的气体透过选择性空心纤维毛细管隔膜束是有用的,以与色谱分离同时地进行基于过滤的化学分离.即,如以上讨论的那样,一般地说,过滤可认为是一种改进化学探测器的化学分离能力的可选择手段。
形成根据本发明使用的束柱的毛细管的尺寸和数量可广泛地变化。典型地,在束中有在10与10000件之间的敞开管状毛细管。每个毛细管典型地具有10至100cm的长度和10至1000μm的内径。优选地,束包含100至4000件所述敞开管状毛细管。管状毛细管的内径优选地从50至1000μm。
一般地说,束包括在基本直的和平行构造中的所述敞开管状毛细管,在它们之间具有敞开空间。诸如水之类的不想要小分子移出毛细管到敞开空间中,并从该处到系统的通风口。当建造由本发明使用的柱和/或束时,保持器或帽典型地把所述毛细管保持在一起,从而只有来自毛细管内的气体到达探测器。盖可以围绕所述束。
在根据本发明的气相色谱仪中,使用的温度控制装置优选地包括布置成流过在所述毛细管之间的所述敞开空间的加热介质。该构造像热交换器,并且优良地解决了通常与小型可携带气相色谱仪相关的热传递问题。对于这样的加热问题,见例如US 5,114,439。
所述温度控制装置也优选地包括上述盖,该上述盖由隔热材料制成,并且具有用来允许加热介质流过在毛细管之间的敞开空间的进口和出口开口。当使用流经毛细管的加热介质时,温度控制装置还包括用来控制所述加热介质的温度的恒温加热器,并且优选地包括泵和软管或管子。泵在恒温加热器与束之间输送加热介质,进一步穿过在毛细管之间的敞开空间,及优选地返回到加热器。
要求保护的气相色谱仪的进给装置典型地包括用来产生用于色谱系统的清洁空气基准的吸附过滤器。而且,所述进给装置包括用来让气体试样进入所述柱的气体进口。也可以有用来可选择地直接或通过所述过滤器把试样导向到柱的阀、和用来可选择地通过柱或直接地把试样导向到探测器的另一个阀。
在要求保护的气相色谱仪中,所述探测器典型地包括离子迁移率频谱仪IMS。优选地,IMS是为试样的直接流过设计的互连的多传感器IMS。
本发明也涉及一种借助于上述气相色谱仪来分析试样的方法。典型地,试样以100至10000ml/min的速度进给到柱。优选地,速度是100至3500ml/min,并且最优选地是1000至2000ml/min。便利的是把试样连续地进给到探测器。如以上叙述的那样,系统可包装到小空间中,并因此适于作为手持分析仪。因而,要求保护的方法具有气相色谱仪用手携带到分析现场和/或从其带离的特征。
本发明的想法是把敞开管式毛细管束与探测器相结合。束有效地分离待分析的试样的成分,并且探测器探测它们。因而,本发明也涉及包含具有气体可透过聚合物隔膜壁的敞开管状毛细管的束与用来分离和分析气体试样的探测器一起的使用。
所述束可以形成渗析过滤器,由此内毛细管壁优选地具有高比表面积。束也可以形成工业干燥器,该干燥器是其原始使用领域。在这种情况下,毛细管的内壁是光滑的,并且具有低渗透性。最优选地,束形成气相色谱仪的柱,并且探测器形成气相色谱仪的探测器。以上给出这样一种气相色谱仪的性能。因为其效率,气相色谱仪优选地是手持气体分析仪。
最佳地,根据本发明与化学探测器相结合的基于空心纤维毛细管隔膜的GC单元,可提供足够改进横向灵敏度问题的足够化学分离能力。装置可通过大流量操作,而没有任何显著的压力或流量变化,并且可迅速稳定湿度和温度变化。此外,它是用在机动用途中的足够小、重量轻及功率消耗低的装置,并且是用来促进商业成功的低成本装置。
根据本发明,这里提供一种用于试样分析的气相色谱仪,具有用来进给试样的进给装置、用于分离试样成分的敞开管状毛细管柱、用于控制柱的温度的温度控制装置和用于探测试样的分离成分的探测器,其中所述柱包括一束敞开管状毛细管,其特征在于,所述敞开管状毛细管具有包括聚合物隔膜的气体可透过壁。

具体实施方式
图1描述与化学探测器(1)相结合的把空心纤维毛细管隔膜束(2)用作GC柱的一个优选实施例。取样装置包含阀(4)、蒸汽吸附过滤器(3)、气体进口(5)及可选择的辅助阀(6)。阀(4)的位置确定试样是通过过滤器(阀切换到位置4b)还是直接(阀切换到位置4c)流到基于空心纤维束的多毛细管GC柱(2)。把阀从位置4b切换到4c的瞬时确定用于保持时间的t=0。
也表示在图1中的另一个优选实施例涉及辅助阀(6),该辅助阀(6)用来控制基于空心纤维束的GC柱是在使用中(位置6b或6c)还是不在使用中(位置6a)。当不使用空心纤维束(位置6a)时较快响应时间是可能的,但当使用束(位置6b或6c)时具有更小交叉灵敏度的更专门分辨是可能的。
图2描述用于作为GC柱的空心纤维毛细管隔膜束(2)的温度调节装置的一个优选实施例。

束装填在气密封闭的外壳中,其中盖(14)由隔热材料制成。可控制地加热和恒温(13)流体(液体或气体)借助于泵(12)通过外壳循环,因而形成在毛细管(16)之间的空隙介质(7)。在一个优选实施例中,空隙介质(7)是丙三醇或工业冷却剂溶液。在另一个优选实施例中,空隙介质(7)是空气。
另一个优选实施例采用如图2所示的类似构造,但在这种情况下,系统可具有加热器(13)或者没有。在这个优选实施例中,空隙介质(7)是空气,主要作用是用来冲洗系统。空气仅在进口(10a)中泵入,并且外壳在出口中是敞开的(即,除去加热介质管15)。
在所有情况下,空隙介质(7)通过在管端(6、17)处的堵塞构造与试样气体隔离。在优选实施例中,在管端处的填充材料(9)仅填充在毛细管之间的空间,并且把毛细管接合在一起。在一个优选实施例中,填充材料(9)是环氧聚合物。
在一个优选实施例中,束(2)是来自在作为Drypoint(Beko)、MF-Dryer(CKD,Wilkinson)、SF-Serie(Whatman,Balston)、Sunsep(Zander,SMC)、VarioDry(Ultrafilter)及Porous Media(Norgren)商标下销售的工业干燥器的高度选择性类型的空心纤维毛细管隔膜束。在这种情况下,毛细管的结构表示在图2c中,并且在特性上包括作为多孔支撑(18)的实际空心纤维、和覆盖内表面的活性致密层(隔膜)(19)。
在一个优选实施例中,探测器(1)是在作为ChemPro100(Environics)、M90-D1-C(Environics)、Multi-IMS(Drāger)商标下销售的互连的多传感器-IMS、或任何其它基于IMS的探测器。
例子
如下例子表明,但不限制,本发明的基本特征。
装置类似于在图1和图2中呈现的那些.空心纤维隔膜毛细管束源于隔膜干燥器(Drypoint Beko)。探测器是使用1l/min流量的ChemPro100(Environics)。
零时刻(保持时间=0)通过如图1中所示把阀从位置4b切换到4c而确定。
图3表示把水杨酸甲酯(MeS)和甲基磷酸二异丙酯(DIMP)(1%DIMP和99%MeS)的混合物通过空心纤维隔膜束进给到探测器的结果。
探测器通过过滤器吸入空气,并且测量清洁背景信号。阀(4)切换到位置4c,并且试样在同时被引入。在3秒之后,阀4c切换到位置4b。这个过程把试样团引入到清洁空气之间的纤维中。
在约40秒内,化学物品已经通过柱洗提,并且由离子迁移率频谱仪(DIMP)和由金属氧化物气体传感器(MeS)选择性地探测。如果在试样如图1(a)中所示已经通过阀6引入的情况下,则在信号之间没有时间延迟。
本发明涉及一种设备,该设备用作化学探测器、并且更优选地用作进行化学分离和与任何化学探测器相结合的辅助装置。本发明改进化学探测器的化学特性,包括低成本元件,及便于不平的构造。本发明当它在诸如军事、工业或个人保护或工业或环境卫生或工业过程控制之类的用途中用来辨别化学战试剂和其它有毒和易燃气体和蒸汽时特别有用。

Claims (21)
1.一种用于试样分析的气相色谱仪,具有用来进给试样的进给装置(3-6)、用于分离试样成分的敞开管状毛细管柱(2)、用于控制柱(2)的温度的温度控制装置(8-15)和用于探测试样的分离成分的探测器(1),其中所述柱(2)包括一束敞开管状毛细管(16),其特征在于,所述敞开管状毛细管(16)具有包括聚合物隔膜(19)的气体可透过壁。
2.根据权利要求1所述的气相色谱仪,其特征在于,它是手持可携带气相色谱仪。
3.根据权利要求1或2所述的气相色谱仪,其特征在于,所述壁具有选择性气体可透过聚合物隔膜(19)的内层和多孔聚合物支撑(18)的外层。
4.根据权利要求1或2所述的气相色谱仪,其特征在于,所述束具有10到10000个敞开管状毛细管(16)。
5.根据权利要求1或2所述的气相色谱仪,其特征在于,所述敞开管状毛细管(16)具有10至100cm的长度和10至1000μm的内径。
6.根据权利要求1或2所述的气相色谱仪,其特征在于,所述束包含100到4000个所述敞开管状毛细管(16)。
7.根据权利要求1或2所述的气相色谱仪,其特征在于,敞开管状毛细管(16)的内径为50至1000μm。
8.根据权利要求1或2所述的气相色谱仪,其特征在于,所述敞开管状毛细管(16)之间具有敞开的空间。
9.根据权利要求1或2所述的气相色谱仪,其特征在于,所述柱(2)具有围绕所述束的盖(10、14)。
10.根据权利要求9所述的气相色谱仪,其特征在于,所述的温度控制装置(8-15)包括:布置成流(11)过在所述毛细管(16)之间所述敞开空间的加热介质(7)。
11.根据权利要求10所述的气相色谱仪,其特征在于,所述的温度控制装置(8-15)包括:所述盖(14),所述盖(14)由隔热材料制成,并且具有设置在进口的和出口处的开口(8),用于允许所述加热介质(7)流入和流过所述毛细管(16)之间的所述的敞开的空间。
12.根据权利要求1或2所述的气相色谱仪,其特征在于,所述的温度控制装置(8-15)包括:用于控制所述加热介质(7)的温度的恒温加热器(13)。
13.根据权利要求12所述的气相色谱仪,其特征在于,所述的温度控制装置(8-15)包括:泵(12)以及软管或管子(15),用于在所述恒温加热器(13)与在所述毛细管(16)之间的敞开的空间之间泵吸和输送所述加热介质(7)。
14.根据权利要求1或2所述的气相色谱仪,其特征在于,所述的进给装置(3-6)包括:在试样进入柱(2)之前用于从试样吸附蒸汽的过滤器(3)。
15.根据权利要求1或2所述的气相色谱仪,其特征在于,所述的进给装置(3-6)包括:用于让试样进入所述柱(2)的气体进口(5)。
16.根据权利要求15所述的气相色谱仪,其特征在于,所述的进给装置(3-6)包括:用于可选择地直接或通过所述过滤器(3)把试样导向所述柱(2)的阀(4)。
17.根据权利要求1或2所述的气相色谱仪,其特征在于,所述的进给装置(3-6)包括:用于通过所述柱(2)或可选择地直接把试样导向所述探测器(1)的阀(6)。
18.根据权利要求1或2所述的气相色谱仪,其特征在于,所述的探测器(1)是离子迁移率频谱仪IMS。
19.根据权利要求18所述的气相色谱仪,其特征在于,IMS是为试样的直接流过设计的互连的多传感器IMS。
20.根据权利要求19所述的气相色谱仪,其特征在于,所述的探测器(1)采用半导体传感器、电声气体传感器或其传感器阵列、或湿度和温度传感器、或这些中任意的组合,在该情况下,至少一个传感器是所述IMS。
21.根据权利要求1或2所述的气相色谱仪,其特征在于,所述的敞开管状毛细管束是在工业隔膜干燥器中使用的类型的。
