Abstract

Description

用视频内容提供广告信息
背景
本发明涉及与多个音频/视频节目有关的辅助信息的传送，例如是与多个频道有关的电视内容。
诸如节目副标题，紧急消息，封闭字幕消息和节目指南信息等辅助信息可以用规则的电视内容发送。可以用电视内容传送的其他类型的辅助信息包括诸如网页，多媒体信息或其他数字数据文件等增强数据。辅助信息可以在模拟电视广播信号的垂直消隐期间(VBI)传送。或者是可以在一种数字传送媒体上用数字电视内容传送辅助信息。
目前有各种标准可以用电视内容传送辅助信息。一种标准是1999年2月2日的Advanced Television Enhancement Forum(ATVEF)Specification，Draft 1.1r.26。ATVEF规范可以在诸如有线系统，卫星系统，陆地系统等等模拟和数字系统中用电视内容一同传送增强数据。可以将增强数据和电视内容的组合称为增强电视内容。
增强电视内容为观众提供了更多的信息选择。例如可以在观看标准电视内容的同时为观众提供观看广告的选择，教育信息等等。
增强电视的观众有机会用现存系统获取关于主要视频内容的额外信息。然而，没有现存的系统能获得伴随视频内容的广告的有关附加信息。在多数情况下，观看一或多个广告的观众可能希望深入了解这些广告以便获得产品对比或其他信息。另外，观众还可能希望从这些广告中获得联系信息。
因而就需要有一种更好的方式让观众能够评估伴随视频内容的广告。

具体说明
参见图1，按照本发明一个实施例的信息传输系统10包括一个内容生成器或发射机12，一个传送系统14和多个接收机16。接收机16可以位于各个分散的场所。内容生成器或发射机12产生准备由传送系统14发送的辅助信息或增强数据15(或其他类型的辅助数据)及电视或视频内容13(或是包括音频和/或视频数据的其他类型的内容)。
或是发射机12能随另一个来源提供的电视内容为系统14产生增强数据。增强数据可以包括图形(例如网页，多媒体信息或其他数字数据文件)，文本，显示版面和同步信息。增强数据和电视内容的组合被称为增强电视内容。
传送操作系统14提供的增强电视内容传输的基础构造包括陆地，有线，卫星或其他类型的(模拟或数字)传输手段。可以通过陆地，有线，卫星或其他类型媒体的链路将增强电视内容发送给接收机16。接收机16可以是电视机，机顶盒，个人计算机或适合接收电视内容和相关增强数据的其他类型的基于处理器的系统。
说明书中使用的术语音频/视频(A/V)内容是要包括任何类型的音频/视频数据，并且可以分发给一或多个接收站点提供给观众和/或听众。本文所说的A/V内容可能是指包括一个音频和一个视频部分的内容，或是包括一或多个音频或视频部分的内容。另外也能用A/V内容发送除增强数据之外的辅助信息。例如，辅助信息可能包括节目副标题，紧急消息，封闭字幕消息和节目指南信息。
这样的传送系统14可以包含音频，视频，文本和诸如辅助信息等数据，它们都与单个传送流节目紧密相关。或者是可以单独发送A/V内容，但是要与辅助信息相联系。当用户调谐到传送流节目时，接收装置16可以确定相关的音频，视频和数据，因为它们都被标明是同一节目的一部分。
用来描述带电视内容的增强数据传输的一种标准是ATVEF规范。可以用许多不同方式从传送操作系统14向接收机16发送增强数据，这取决于采用的传送介质的类型。例如，用Electronics IndustriesAssociation的National Television Standards Committee(NTSC)Standard的模拟传送介质可以在NTSC传输的垂直消隐期间(VBI)传送一部分增强数据。NTSC的说明可以参见由High Text Publication(2d，Ed.1996)出版的Keith Jack所著的有关书籍“VideoDemystified：A Handbook for the Digital Engineer”。其他类型的传送介质(模拟或数字)可以为传送增强数据提供不同的机制。
按照ATVEF规范的增强数据可以包括增强以下各种成分：ATVEF广播，一种资源和一个触发器。这三种成分可以用Internet协议(IP)多点传送发送给接收机。在名为“Multicast Transport Protocol”的Request for Comment(RFC 1301)中描述了一种IP多点传送标准。
一般来说，ATVEF广播能指示出正在发送增强数据，并且资源包括一或多个文件，它包含增强数据和一个使增强数据与TV传输同步的触发器。广播可以说明资源串和触发器串的位置。对于每一个电视频道，可以提供一或多个增强数据供用户选择观看，他可以选择观看重要的内容。ATVEF规范采用单向传输协议(ATVEF规范中描述的Unidirectional Transfer Protocol或UHTTP)提供资源数据。
按照本发明的一个实施例，可以大致在一个A/V频道上传输A/V内容的同时传送和该频道有关的资源和触发器。或者是可以为后续相关的A/V内容单独发送辅助数据。通常，对于每个增强，可以和广播一起提供资源流，将资源流存储在本地接收机16中。如果观众需要，就能从计算机上的本地存储器中检索增强数据来观看。
按照本发明的一个实施例，增强数据流不仅包括普通增强数据，还包括广告增强数据17。所谓“广告增强”是指随广告发送给接收机的任何信息。数据17可以描述广告的产品名称和制造商，以及与制造商联系的信息。增强数据17还可以包括增加信息，例如是有关如何免费获取广告产品，折扣券的信息，或是在Internet上在线定购该产品所需的信息。
然后在发射机12中将广告增强数据17与其他辅助信息15组合，配合着视频内容13发送。发射机12还可以包括一个存储装置11，它可以存储控制发射机12操作的软件56。
各个接收机16也可以包括一个ad闪存器18，用来存储广告增强数据17。ad闪存器18还可以存储在接收机16上控制广告增强数据操作的软件34和46。
在一些实施例中，可以通过从发射机12向接收机16发送原本来提供用来控制广告增强数据17的软件34和46。这样，接收机16就能从发射机12选择接收这种软件并存储在存储器18中。
参见图2，用户可以在观看视频内容时选择各种广告存储在ad闪存器18中。在需要时可以用图形用户接口20显示存储在ad闪存器18中的信息。可以将ad闪存器按22a，22b和22c分类。在这种情况下，文件的分类与家庭成员有联系。在其他情况下，分类22可以是基于分类的题目或内容。按照本发明的一个实施例，可以由用户定义分类。这样就能在图形用户接口20中按适当的分类22显示与显示的广告有关的一或多个图形用户图标24。
按照本发明的一个实施例，图形用户接口24是通过在用户作出用户选择时捕捉并存储显示在接收机16上的一帧而获得的。用户选择可以是操作遥控器上的一个专用按钮，将当前显示的一帧高速缓存。或者是在一个屏幕显示上可以包括供用户用鼠标点击的区域，用遥控器控制一个光标。当用户象鼠标点击操作那样使用遥控器时，可以即刻记录当前显示的一帧。
例如可以在显示屏幕上为接收机16显示一个图标。当用户看到一个他希望存储在ad闪存器18中的广告时，用户仅需点击ad闪存器光标就能存储当前显示的那一帧。
在存储这一帧时，与当前显示的ad相联系的广告增强数据17被链接到捕获的一帧。这样，当用户点击(对应着所捕获一帧的)图形用户接口24之一时，就能自动调用与该广告相联系的广告增强数据17。
这样，如图2所示，光标25被定位在与一个广告相联系的图形用户接口24a上面。当用户点击该广告时，图形用户接口24b就显示如图3中所示的广告增强数据17。按照本发明的一个实施例，信息26可以识别所显示的制造商和产品名称。另外可以用增强数据17中的信息显示许多图形用户接口按钮28，30和32。按钮28允许用户用鼠标点击为识别到的产品收集附加产品说明细节。按钮30允许用户打印输出折扣券以降低的价格定购产品。按钮32允许用户直接与制造商联系。还可以提供方便用户获取附加信息的其他格式。另外，在其他实施例中还可以提供附加广告增强内容。
图4所示的存储在ad闪存器18中的ad闪存器软件34如菱形36所示等待来自观众的鼠标点击输入。在一个实施例中，如果用户发出鼠标点击输入表示用户希望高速缓存当前显示的广告，与当前广告相联系的一帧就会被高速缓存，如框38中所示。也就是将信息存储在ad缓存器18中。信息被变换成缩略图或缩比例形式，在被用户调用时可以显示在图形用户接口20中。另外，与显示广告相联系的增强数据也按框40中所示被高速缓存到ad缓存器18中。
接着用一个标识符链接被高速缓存的一帧及其相联系的增强数据，在选择这一帧的缩略图版本时可以调用增强数据。参见图2和3，可以按24所示的缩略图形式显示这一帧。当用户如25所示点击这一帧24时，就按图3中的屏幕显示24b显示增强数据。这样，如图4中的框44所示，这一帧和增强数据被存储在ad闪存器18中供用户调用。
用户可以按多种方式之一选择ad闪存器。例如，用户可以用遥控器调用一个菜单。用户可以选择ad闪存器显示20，由它调出图形用户接口20。或者是可以在遥控器上提供一个专用按钮去调用ad闪存器显示20。
参见图5，当用户选择例如图2所示的ad闪存器显示时，存储在ad闪存器18中的软件46就能使ad高速缓存图形用户接口20开始显示。这样，在如菱形48所示选择了高速缓存时，就按框50和图2所指示的显示先前捕捉的帧。
然后由软件46监视按菱形52所示选择一个特定帧。同样可以用鼠标点击按图形用户接口24(图2)提供的所捕获帧的缩略图版本来完成。一旦用户选择了特定的一帧，就能如框54所示显示与这一帧相联系的辅助数据。这相当于本发明一个实施例中的如图3所示的图形用户接口24b。用户就能通过操作与图形用户接口24b相联系的一或多个用户选择按钮28，30和32看到其他辅助信息。
按照本发明的另一个实施例，不是自动高速缓存当前显示的一帧，增强数据17可以包括一个图标或是与感兴趣的具体广告相联系并且供识别的其他图形。如果用鼠标点击了该广告，就存储包括图标信息的增强数据。然后可以用图标作为接口24。在这种情况下，就能在发射机一端完成图标和其他增强文本数据之间的链接。按照本发明的一个实施例，不是实际发送图形来构成接口24，而是可以发送一个定位器，能够由诸如Internet等远程来源查找图标图形。
按照本发明的一些实施例，用户可以按需要将高速缓存的广告编制成类别22。另外，用户能够对广告自动分类，根据广告增强数据17所包含的信息按特定的顺序显示。按照这种安排，例如可以在广告增强数据17中为有关某一类产品的广告编码，从而在ad高速缓存接口20中将它们自动分类成供显示的预定类别。
按照本发明的又一实施例，不是直接高速缓存广告的一帧，而是可以高速缓存整个广告。例如，用户可以操作一个按钮接口自动起动一个指定广告的高速缓存。用户可以再次操作按钮接口指示出高速缓存内容的结束。另外可以为各个编码，当用户用鼠标点击给定的广告时，增强数据17就能自动高速缓存整个广告。在此时可以高速缓存整个广告，也能从一个外部来源(例如是通过Internet)检索广告并以完整格式按顺序显示。
按照本发明的再一实施例，可以自动执行广告内容的高速缓存。按照本发明的一个实施例，用户可以向一个图形用户接口输入表示用户所感兴趣的信息类型的信息。可以将这种信息变换成编码，当广告增强数据17中出现相应的编码时，就能自动高速缓存与广告有关的数据。
参见图6，发射机12可以包括软件56，用于将广告增强数据17纳入传送给接收机16的A/V内容流。最初如框58所示由有关内容生成器接收视频内容。然后如框60所示将该内容与从广告商接收的广告数据17加以组合。组合的内容和连同广告增强数据17的辅助数据15可以如框62所示发送给多个接收机。
尽管本发明是参照数量有限的实施例来描述的，本领域的技术人员从中可以晤出许多修改和变更。权利要求书的用意是要覆盖属于本发明的原理和范围内的所有此类修改和变更。

Claims (5)

1.一种用于传递信息的方法，包括：
发送视频内容；
发送与上述内容有关广告的增强数据；
发送具有所述增强数据的软件，该增强数据的软件被接收机用来高速缓存关于所述广告的信息。
2.按照权利要求1的方法，其特征是包括发送有关广告的增强数据，数据中包括有关如何获取关于广告产品的附加信息的信息。
3.按照权利要求1的方法，其特征是发送有关广告的增强数据包括发送允许用户为广告产品打印折扣券的数据。
4.按照权利要求1的方法，其特征是发送有关广告的增强数据包括发送有助于用户获得产品说明的信息。
5.按照权利要求1的方法，其特征是发送增强数据包括发送信息，该信息用来创建用于在接收机上显示和用户选择的表示该广告的图标。
